Phenomenal video of a Legend. I was at Beaver Dam when we lost Jason. Many cried. And I still see the crash every day. I'll always miss Jason! Forever 41!
I got to give it to Bobbi, Jason's wife. Losing 2 significant others due to sprint car accidents and still being involved with sprint cars to this day. To me that takes a lot of courage and willpower. To go through that once would be extremely difficult. To go through it twice I can't even begin to fathom that. For the ones that didn't know she was dating Kevin Gobrecht, when he sadly passed away. According to the Kevin Gobrecht tribute site they were looking at engagement rings and planned on getting married that November.
Yeah but soon as Jason died she was already with that new dude. Sure that wasn't just a coincidence and 'just happened' he didnt know she was out backing it up into someone else.
@polarbeezy412 if you truly knew the Family. You wouldn't talk badly about Bobbi. She don't deserve to be ran in the mud. She did what she did for the Family. And Jax approved it all. Don't act like Bobbi is some ho.
He was the first driver that I got to call a favorite, had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and was always a nice guy to talk to. Every time he came to the track you knew he was either gonna win or wreck trying, one of the best for sure. RIP JJ
Saw Jason at Devils Bowl 2 months before his crash, blistered the track record. Right as he climbed in the car I told him good luck, he looked me right in the eye and said, "thank you" This one still hurts. The next year I told Gravel that whoever drives the 41 is my favorite Outlaws driver, so now it would be Macedo. #Forever41
Excellent video. Miss the Cajun. I watched his nationals win from the other side of the globe and when he crossed the chequers, i was dancin and jumpin around the room like a crazy guy. He has many many friends downunder. I say "has" instead of had because those friendships last forever. Thankyou WoO for doing this video, THANKS
I am now 11 years old and I’ve been dreaming to see Jason Johnson ever since I was three. My dream now is to race in the outlaws and join Jason Johnson Racing. May he Rest In Peace, FOREVER 41
I first saw Jason race in 2003 with the ASCoC at 81 Speedway in the Harrison Trucking #22. He went 4 wheels over the cushion and on a rail around 1 & 2 to start the feature and passed 3 cars. I remembered sensing that he was going to make a bold move and told those sitting around me to keep their eyes on him. From that day on I was a fan.
Jason was a great guy, very tragic circumstances with him, so glad his team has carried on without him, had to be extremely difficult to do!!? Hard not to root for JJR 🏁🏁 this video is awesome 👏
I know how everyone feels.... because my Dad was [Jan Opperman the Original Outlaw] just take a little look in the Sprint car Hall of Fame in Knoxville. My Uncle Jay Opperman died racing in Knoxville in 1970.Then my dad, JAN OPPERMAN won the Knoxville Nationals in 1971. And yes eventually my dad also died racing spring cars ......Jan Opperman.
Being from Australia, He taught my son how to play cornhole in the kids zone at the nationals, he had an enormous following in Australia. Shattered when I heard the news.
My uncle was friends with Jason. Jason was my idle when I was growing up. Jason even sent me a video of him telling me to eat all my vegetables and ill become a racer one day.

Jason is w/ the team every night they hit a track for racing. I truly believe this, look @ Carson's Macedo's horrible, fiery crash @ Knoxville Raceway! Being knocked out, & watching the fire suppression canister fly off the car as it flipped!
Back when i first got into sprint car racing i was close with jason and he basically helped me with everything including my car, he helped me get a builtwiser and all kinds of different setups. Helped me with tires and all.. idk what he ran towards the end of his career cuz we were doing are thing, i wouldn't have multiple track championships without him, i never made it big time but damn close. All cuz of Jason Johnson
Phillip Dietz best NEVER step in a racecar EVER again. If ya know, ya know. Poor Bobbi is cursed. I used to watch Jason Johnson run with the All Stars at Fremont & Attica around 2001 or so
