Jason Ladanye Performs Expert Sleight of Hand

I highly recommend you watch (not just listen) to this episode, particularly the back half. I came into contact with Jason on TikTok where he claps back at trolls for claiming he's using editing to make it look like his tricks are real. We talked about how he got into this trade, life before TikTok, and the dedication it takes to perform sleight of hand in high-stakes poker games. There are probably fewer than 10 people in the world that can do what Jason does.

We were priveleged to have Jason give us a 1-trick show after he purchased something from our shop, when I asked hey how about a card trick? I love magic and to be able to see it up close- I mean we were 2 feet from each other- was amazing, and so cool for Jason to do it. And just like here, he blew our minds- with an even more impossible result. 10 stars!

What surprised me is that you stayed with it from the age of 7 on. I worked in a magic shop for over 30 years and the one thing I saw over and over was that boys lost their interest at 15 years old. Whether it was girls, cars or sports they were gone. Then, almost without exception, 4 to 6 years later they were back. You are definitely one of a kind.

Jason is right. I learned this years ago that haters are great for generating content by responding to them. Even though I have told them thousands of times that the effect of them knocking me online is more exposure of my brand to more people they don't stop. I get compliments on my stuff and get 10 views. A knocker shows up and gves me a platform to rebutt their claims and I get hundreds of viewers. And the best part is that what I post in rebuttal is factual and provable so it gives my fans the information they need to rebut the knockers adequately when I haven't seen the knock. I love watching Jason do these truly mindbending feats. He is arguably a Master Shaolin Monk of card tricks.

That last trick was insane. He really did have all the choices. He was tracking the whole time and making sure you would never choose the Aces. That is what is amazing since the shuffles look really good but nope.
@GlennD007
@GlennD007 3 месяца назад
😂😂 I think I figured out that last trick. He controlled the aces, so no matter which cards he let you choose from, they were always the junk cards. If you didn't take both cards to end the game, for your last choice, the last choice you would have had would have been between a junk card and that 2 of hearts that was left in Jason's hand. You never had a chance to get an ace because they were always controlled to the bottom of the deck! 🤣 Great job, Jason. I love watching your videos and scratching my head! You're the best!

I don't know if I've said this before, but Jason's statement at 57:56 "It's also weight" is pretty true. When you've dealt with objects of a specific weight for very long periods of time, you can feel if something is off. At my job, I can tell if there's an issue with an item just by picking it up and going "this weight feels off". And then it turns out it is, because it's missing fluids or it's missing a container inside of the package. That's if I don't hear the crinkle of a punctured aluminum container when I pick it up, or see moisture inside of the pallet wrap, first.

Nice. The first effect can be done on the square with corner shorts and some simple riffle shuffles. Cut to either card (AD) bringing it to the top. Do three riffles placing it 10th from the top and then deal down 10 cards revealing the AD. With estimation you can go much further. If off by three or less, you can say the player would play 3 hands and get the ace in one of those hands. If a BJ pays 3 to 2 (like the old days), then each hand has a 17% starting advantage. Starting your hand with an Ace in BJ, yields a 52% starting advantage.

Everyone wants compliments, “Well done” “you’re amazing!” Magicians want to be told they’re not liked by people because it means we’re putting you at unease, which means you KNOW what you’re seeing shouldn’t be possible but we’re doing it to you any way. Also: what magicians REALLY want is to be insulted by other magicians... Jason, I really love to hate you and hate to love you. You beautiful brain bending bastard x

1:01:51 that slick cut is where he made sure the right ten cards were on top. He let you think you were controlling the game, but he snuck that cut in without mentioning it. Then the overhand shuffles, as he showed earlier, are super easy to control, so he always made sure the two cards you had to choose from were the cards you were ultimately gonna get. He's still the GOAT, but that hand was easier to see how he manipulated you. You probably didn't even notice that extra cut, or never even considered how important it was to the outcome.
