Isn’t it strange how I haven’t heard these since my primary school years but now 34 I still know the words! Made me smile looking back on the good olde stress free years in life. Lol 🤘🏻😊

I left primary school in 1988 and I remember all the words (like everyone else here in the comments). I’m not religious in any way, but this is great. Very uplifting and nostalgic.

Of the five songs I've genuinely never heard of two of them. Another two ("He's got the whole world in his hand" and "lord of the dance") I've heard of but never actually sang in assemblies at school. Which leaves only 'Sing Hosannah' as the only one I actually sang in assemblies, and even then only in infants, before overtly Christian songs were largely dropped from assemblies, and even then I don't remember there ever being anything about oil or burning, only 'give me joy in my heart'. The chorus of 'Sing Hossanah' always got messed up in our assemblies, as the 'of kings' isn't sung the second time through the chorus, but the infants in our school always tried to sing it anyway every flipping time. So yeah only really a half-match out of five for my primary school lol (and we didn't sing in assemblies at all at secondary school). I wonder how much variation there was between schools in terms of what was sung in assemblies? Did schools in the 70s to early 90s essentially have free rein with their song choices?

As a Christian who laments the loss of the old hymns from my schooldays of the 1950's, I take my hat off to Jason. In 2017 I started to get inspiration to write parodies and had lined up my grand-children's school choir to record 'He Came to Teach the World to Live' at Easter 2020. Sadly, Lockdown prevented it. I had it published anyway with Stoke-onTrent singer Nicky Whyman and we dedicated it to the Trussel Trust. It would still be great to do it now with the multi-ethnic London school. It's a parody of the most famous 'Coke' ad and New Seekers mega-hit 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Harmony' in my author name of Jude.
