For me, him winning back to back dunk contests was the most exciting thing as a Warriors fan until We Believe, and current times ofc. So I definitely feel what you're saying
As a suns fan thank you for the memories J rich ...we undervalue alot of players for the stars..guys like j rich Barbosa Joe Johnson diaw bell gave me great memories
Now this is my era. Peja in the 3 point , jason Richardson in the dunk contest….. the KG, tim , Kobe vs AI , TMac , and vince carter. Kids please appreciate what you have today before those days become a distant memory
I’m not mad at the free throw line attempt at 2:19. J Rich isn’t a one foot leaper so it’s out of his element, but at least he added some flair to it with the legs spread and the jelly mime hand motion.
I had to come see this dunk @9:11 after Kenny Smith said he’s never seen the first dunk Aaron Gordon had tonight... J-Rich did it off the bounce and with the left 🤷♂️
Dude Kenny is the worst. I lost resepct when he compared tonight's contest to an all time great. It was good but they have to stop with the overreactionary BS. Tonight's contest was good but I guess I'm too old now that ky expectations are a bit higher. Really youtubers have done dunks a lot of NBA players haven't done before. AG's side of the cylinder was a tremendous dunk though and that second dunk from AG was really good too. But for me something just has to get me like VC, Dwight, Lavine and J-RIch did fmo.
Ryan Beltran Yee he’s definitely over dramatic lol I’m guessing he was just enjoying himself so he was embellishing a bit. It definitely seemed like a fun all star Saturday night so I can’t blame him but idk if it was one of the best dunk contests ever to me either
I still remember watching the reverse between-the-legs live with a friend. It was so fast, we weren't quite sure what had happened, other than we knew it was awesome somehow. When they showed the replay, we went nuts! :)
JRich bounce thru the legs reverse power jam is the best dunk outside of Aaron Gordon’s chair in the sky one handed slam. I think those are two best dunks I have ever seen
I never understood why Jason Richardson is never mentioned with the greatest dunk contest dunkers of all time. He's top 3 in my opinion and I thought his dunks were better then Vince Carters dunks.
Had to come back and rewatch after Gilbert claimed he gave J Rich the dunk ideas 💡 😂. I remember watching these dunk contests but never even remembered seeing Gil in the back, got to love YT to pull up the receipts🤷♂️.
Great style to his dunks. Knew exactly how to move his legs in the air for the added flair. That's what a lot of dunkers are missing. It's not just about power, height or difficulty. You need style.
You're so right. It's one of the reasons I could never like a dunker like Blake Griffin in these contests (or in-game, for that matter ..). There really is an element of grace associated with a nice dunk.
9:46 & 11:24 are in top 20 all time dunks. Off the glass to yourself between the legs is ridiculously hard. Haven't seen that since, same is true for the reverse between the legs.
His last dunk in the 02 contest (180 reverse 2 handed windmill) is better than VC’s 2nd dunk (reverse 180 windmill). He also got the best Between-the-legs dunks
Its the little things that make J-Rich so good. I think its Magic from memory makes a comment about how he kicks his legs in the windmill dunk. Things like that, The 360, The way he kicks his legs out and the power make a 40 dunk be a 46-50 dunk
Anyone notice lil bow wow tryin to get dapped up and everyone ignores him and he just walks away? Hahaha cringy af just like the emmys or grammys he was a side host
@10:43 ............ JASON RICHARDSON invents the PASS OF THE BACK BOARD, BETWEEN THE LEGS DUNK" !!!!!! That's right, he was the FIRST MAN ever to do that DUNK, he's the 100% CREATOR
He would win his third SDC if players at that time were allowed to use more attempts or shot clock . Only couple of years after Nate Robinson used about 20 attempts and somehow won SDC
4:05 I know a lot of people like his game winners in his other contests, but this dunk is so much harder than it looks. The throw, the catch, the scoop/windmill, the reverse, AND 2 handed, WITH POWER...????? Come on now... I grew up on the tailend of Dr J, and watched MJ vs 'Nique live as it happened, so we were dunk crazy. I could juuuuuust dunk with a smaller ball, like the chick ball, in my heyday. And that wasn't always 100% But when those adjustable hoops came around for your backyard, id go to my buddy's house and we'd drop it to 9 feet and spend HOURS a day, damn near every day from May thru October, for a few years, just dunking and trying crazy dunks. And that dunk at 4:05 is damn hard, much harder than it looks, but yet, also doesn't look that hard. That's the beauty of it, and the beauty of most of the best dunks
