He was top 5 although I’m sure the recent era dropped him out of the top 5 I can only imagine prime hawks and Dallas terry in the current era would absolutely kill it
Michael Jordan would’ve dropped 60 just to prove Jason Terry wasn’t on his level. MJ torched the Blazers and lit them up from 3 with 35 in the first half just because they were comparing him to Clyde Drexler who was rightfully compared as he was by all accounts the 2nd best SG in the league. And ppl have the nerve to compare this clown to MJ 😂😂😂
Terry is a good dude and probably will be an assistant coach in the league soon. He was always a clutch shooter when Dirk needed rest in those days seeing it on the big stage at times in the playoffs was nice. His career stats aren't bad.
Lebron just didn’t play well like when mj lost 6 rounds. Terry played off ball he ran away from Lebron the entire series. Which he gained momentum when get the ball whole running and Lebron went into a defense stance. Not Lebron fault terry ran away
James was walking and sulking after he got baited into jumping to block Terry, who made a pass to the open man with just 3 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. James was just 3-4 arm's length away from the open guy but instead of making one big stride to at least challenge the guy's shot, he decided to just walk towards the bench. He covered nearly 3 strides while walking before the ball actually left the shooter's hand, so what does this tell us? Guy is not determined at all. Just cherry picks good opportunities to get the important stats to add on to his resume. This year he was totally on point about cherry picking plays, maybe he already realize when he can't win the finals, he should just do his best to get as much stats as possible rather than just sulk and end up getting outscored by a bench player from the opposing team like in 2011. Can't say it's a bad choice because this is his limit, at least he has improved mentality in a sense.
Lebron wasn’t sulking. Terry played off ball the entire series making Lebron run around the whole court just to stop Lebron. Lebron has carried every finals team he’s been on. Terry only averaged one point above Lebron that’s not out scoring someone and it doesn’t matter what player he was. The thing is that Lebron was an elite defender at this point in time. He simply came out in the Finals and looked disinterested, unmotivated, and generally as though the pressure was too great for him and he wanted to coast and let other players do the work for him. Some of these plays Lebron is making are just flat out boneheaded and lazy. Jason Terry was still a very good player at this point, they called him The Jet for a reason. Aaron Rampersad - what's funny is you think it's about posting positive about LBJ - guys like you are so desperate to make excuses for his poor play in the big moments and give his great stats in losing performances. And say shit like his heroic performances when he has more help than anyone in history. It's about seeing his game both strengths and weaknesses as well as grading his performances on the biggest stage. You guys say he can defend the 1-5 because you heard a broadcaster make this idiotic generalization- anyone can guard the 1-5 but very few have the size and speed to do it well. LBJ cannot - the Jet here is an older player here already and burned him. MJ never had this kind of performance in the finals or playoffs period - ever. And his stats aren't cherry picked but incredible all around. LBJ might get the assists and even triple double is past finals but he did it extremely inefficiently eating up his team's possessions and insisting on holding the ball in isolation or just giving it to Kyrie. He recorded the most turnovers per game in the finals for the second time in history - 5.8 per game. That means he gave up a potential 16-17 puts per game on his turnover alone. More importantly, they lost convincingly. You could almost see in his face at times that he gave up and looked dejected - and decided well I better try to get my numbers like he did in his loss to the Spurs. I mean did you see that stat in this video - 11 points combined all games in the 4th quarter for LBJ. That's pathetic from the best player on that team and in the world. Of course they lost that way.
Hmmmm, This guy kinda seems afraid of seeing his "goat" fail. You can tell at this comment that he knows the truth that MJ is better than Lebron. LOL not everything with MJ's name is associated to hating on Lebron.
Pretty much all of it is bad defense. Dumb fouls, getting blown by easily, not getting back in transition. maybe that one pull-up on the baseline was OK defense.
A 6'8 Small Forward guarding a 6'3 Combo Guard on the perimeter, creating space for shots and blow bys are LITERALLY expected.. How is his defense overrated?
If LeBron was a consistently good defender, It's definitely not expected at all that a spot up shooter would beat him back in transition and blow past him, especially considering LeBron is lauded as supposedly being able to guard all 5 positions, something which he even brags about himself How is LeBron's defense overrated? In spite of being praised for supposedly guarding all 5 positions, and proclaiming it himself, he has played poor defense in 5 out of 6 NBA Finals 2007 Finals - Parker drops 24.5 ppg on 57% and outscored LeBron, and LeBron did try guarding him for long stretches. The Heat cut the lead from 15 to 9 without LeBron, after Wade subbed in for him, from the 5:00 to 1:00 mark of the 3rd quarter, but even with that help LeBron still lost. Game 4 - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dU09Gph3B_s.html Lebron had 9 points in first half and the Heat were blown out by 19 at halftime. He padded his stats from there, and he did not score on Leonard in the first half. Game 5 - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-APGlNxSvODw.html Lebron had 1 FG in 2nd quarter (2:30 mark) to bring the Heat within 5. Then he did not score again until the Heat were down 21 with 4:40 in the 3rd. LeBron shot 1-6 against Leonard this game. Leonard clearly outplayed Lebron over the final 3 games, even with Lebron padding his stats, and Lebron failed to score consistently until after his teams were getting blown out. LeBron did not play well in the 2014 Finals after Game 2, he only padded his stats. So any notion that LeBron had an "amazing" series, and still lost because of his teammates is false. 2015 Finals Bench player Andre Iguadola more than doubled his scoring average from 7.8 ppg on 47% in the season to 16.3 ppg on 52% in the Finals against LeBron. However this is the one time LeBron played great in the Finals and his team still lost, so I do have to admit his overall performance was still great even with his bad defense. So to recap, LeBron was outscored in the Finals by Tony Parker 2007, Jason Terry 2011, Kevin Durant 2012, all of whom increased their ppg and FG% and shot better than LeBron from the field. In his first 3 Finals appearances he got outscored by the guy he was guarding and let them shoot a higher FG% In 2014, he was outplayed by Kawhi Leonard over the final 3 games, and Leonard shot 65% on LeBron for the series a a whole. and in 2015 he allowed Andre Iguodala to double his scoring average on more efficient shooting, and allowed Barnes to shoot over 50% on LeBron despite shooting 37% for the overall series. 2013 was the only good defensive Finals he had in 6 appearances and this is only his bad defense in the Finals, not including the earlier rounds when he also got lit up.
Tony Montana Before this series LeBron locked down a prime MVP Derrick Rose for 2 quarters. If he can do that you should expect him to be able to lock down Terry and Berea
There was 5 plays in a 5 game series where he actually beat Lebron. 2 of them were good defense and Terry made a great shot. Lebron's mistakes are always overblown. This doesnt define Lebron's career especially at 26 yrs old lol
Lebron at 35 is still a top defender when needed. Never hear anyone else bringing up other player's career missteps when speaking on their greatness compared to others.
Brian DeJesus Kawhi literally shoots 75% against him this season, and KD last year shot over 60% when he was his primary defender. Not to mention Westbrook cooks him very easily.
Rigged...you cant possibly be that bad at defense. He was intentionally not guarding Jason Terry who was never this good of a player. As I mavs fan I could see this series was rigged.
Y'all stupid.. You actually think as bad as LBJ wanted his first title, he was involved in rigging series? Excuses excuses, LeBron just choked under pressure and let a small guard outplay him. You ain't a real Mavericks fan either if you think is rigged... Stop pretending...
Jason Terry played this well a lot of times in a Mavs uniform. You would know that if you were a Mavs fan from that time. A better argument would have been that Terry was rarely this aggressive. He usually didn't put the ball on the ground much, but that whole playoff Dallas was driving on everyone. Carlisle did a great job coaching that year of having them play real aggressive.
Yea it’s not just that lebron played bad it was Jason terry and deshawn Stevenson and Shawn Marion talkin shit the whole time. It just looked bad. Miami should’ve won this series even though Dirk did drop 48 on KD in the series before to get them to the finals. Dirk was on FIRE that whole playoff run.

If it wasn’t for terry we wouldn’t have won! Love dork but he chocked the last 2 games and terry stepped up not to mention Jason Kidd was nothing but a waste of space
Jason Kidd was one of the main defenders on Wade and LeBron. He hit a bunch of big threes during that run, and ran the offense. Dirk didn't have monster games, but he didn't choke.

The 2011 Mavs are very underrated, but it's how LeBron played in those finals that makes it look so bad on him. Dirk didn't dominate in this series like he did in the WCF. The Mavs just dominated LA. Everyone was on fire against them.
What no one mentions is every matchup the mavs had against heat in that season Lebron performed avg or poorly he had a 10 point game a 19 point game and 23 point game. Yes he choked and meltdown but it’s clear the defence also played in part to why Lebron had shit stats for the finals
@mj is goat Who said I’m making excuses..I’m saying that y’all don’t treat the same with other teams that fell to the mavs in the playoffs, they didn’t beat the defending champs they swept the lakers. Kobe played horribly, just like Jordan lost to penny and Shaq, etc
the biggest thing was JET called out lebron. I remember everyone in Dallas was like "JET stfu! don't wake the beast" but then lebron folded and Terry did indeed show lebron couldn't guard him for the entire series. big words from JET, and he backed them up.
