Jasprit Bumrah Bowling Action Analysis-
[A] RUN-UP:
[1] Bumrah's run-up consists of about 15 steps, significantly shorter than traditional fast bowlers. This compact run-up helps conserve energy and maintain a high level of control over his body movements.
[2] He starts with small, controlled steps and gradually increases his stride pattern as he approaches the crease, especially his last 3 steps.
[3] Bumrah runs in a straight line towards the target, ensuring minimal lateral movement and maintaining balance.
[B] JUMP & GATHER:
[1] Bumrah's jump is not overly pronounced but effective, providing the necessary height.
[2] He uses shin lead in his action to generate more pace.
[3] At the time of jump, he gather his bowling-arm far behind his back, and his non bowling-arm is at level with his shoulders.
[4] Bumrah holds his action during his jump to maintain stability.
[C] BFC:
[1] Jasprit Bumrah is a front-on, hip dominant bowler.
[2] He has a BFC of about 0.21 seconds.
[3] At BFC, his front-knee is at its highest position i.e. he uses high-knee angle in his bowling.
[4] At BFC, he slightly raises his non-bowling arm above his eye level.
[5] He maintains a stiff and quick BFC, preventing collapse and allowing efficient momentum transfer.
[D] FFC & DELIVERY STRIDE:
[1] He extends his front-foot completely before landing on the ground, aiding swing-leg retraction.
[2] He lands on his heel first at FFC, a technique that aids in stability and efficient energy transfer.
[3] He uses a wide-angle attack to release the ball.
[4] He has had his lower back injuries because most of his speed generated was dependent on his delivery stride, and not on his run-up and especially for a front-on bowler it's a heavy loaded task.
[5] He also shows upper-trunk flexion & also has a braced front-foot at the time of ball release.
[6] Bumrah completely twists his non-bowling arm wrist at delivery stride.
[7] His bowling arm passes near his ears.
[8] He shows hyper-extension of his bowling arm, resulting in an extra 34cm release ahead his front-foot.
[9] Bumrah has a late release, a quick arm-action and a steady head at the time of ball release.
[10] He releases the ball using magnus effect i.e. by completely back-spinning the ball via his wrist, resulting in less bounce and a flatter trajectory which troubles the batsman more.
[11] Not only his bowling-arm passes his knees, but also his non bowling-arm shows full rotation, similar to that of Umran Malik.
