Great video Nate I think the point about vehicles testing different in game maps vs test tracks is a great one. As they have multiple layers of stuff going in compared to 1 type or mud. I’m sure this took a long time so thanks for all your efforts and keep it up.

Thanks JJ. I probably should have mentioned the strip increases its texture as the tract goes on, but indeed the game is a much better representation of performance

Great job on testing all these new tires! I like how these new tires seems pretty balanced compared to the originals. The devs could easily have made them super good and made the old ones completly obsolete, but im glad they didnt.

Thank you Nate for this very useful tires-testing video, I'm sure it will help the community. At this point it's safe to say that except for scouts and superheavy trucks, the OG tires are still the go-to for most scenarios, but it's always nice to get improved stability and overall variety fromn these new tires.
@NProvince

I think that’s safe to say. Swapping the other tires in and out of your rotation will be a change of pace. I like this idea because you’re not losing significant performance by using a sidegrade
@baalrog666

Looks like the biggest upgrade is for the small scouts that don't have uod or their own special tires (like Yar87, Tatarin). From 1.6 mud for MS1 to Jat MS3's 2.5 is a huge upgrade. Otherwise, agreed, it's mostly a sidegrade and the old tires still perform well. Maybe we'll see some new things as we play and discover some more differences.
@NProvince

Agreed, Trucks that have special tires are still really good. For the smaller scouts I think these are a good upgrade. I found it crazy that the Yars tires still did that good in comparission, but its kinda cool as well

Scouts and heavy trucks got a traction buff. The highway, heavy duty and off road trucks don’t get much of a traction buff, but they have wider tires that help with stability. Also the dual mud tires on some small Russian trucks can be better than Tayga tires in some instances.

The best part of this dlc for me, as a returning player starting fresh, is that you can get mud tires/offroad tires early. Cuts a lot of the annoying crawling around you have to do on highway tires when ranking up.
@Sliphantom
@Sliphantom 8 месяцев назад
Overall, this is a great DLC. The new tires add a lot of flavor to the game and bring many of the older and less specialized trucks up to standard with the DLC trucks that have somewhat powercrept them, all without disrupting the balance too much or being outright pay-to-win. I'm going to take the results from the timed test with a pretty heavy pinch of salt though. Putting a ton weight over the rear axles without hitching a trailer and then sending it into the mud seems to bias the results in favor of thinner, more aggressive tires. In my experience, these kinds of tires really suffer when you hitch up a trailer and have to pull weight over a dead axle. Under these conditions, I find that more aggressive tires like the OHSs and UODs tend to quickly overwhelm soft ground, rip it up, and then get stuck in the mud they create (not to mention the damage they do to dirt roads you have to use for multiple trips). This is, in my opinion, the most overlooked positive of this DLC. Many trucks that were stuck with single narrow MHS1/DMHS/OHS tires (like the DAN and Derry 4520) and UODs (like many American trucks) as their best options seemed to have a much harder time pulling big trailer loads than options with wider, less aggressive tires; JAT MHS tires for the former and JAT OMD tires for the latter really seem to help bring them up to speed. As an aside, I'm just plain skeptical of the whole "cutting the mud" idea. For all the test results that everyone produces I've yet to make it work in practice. Every time I try to, I end up bogged down in mud that less aggressive tires would have ridden right over.
@NProvince
@NProvince 8 месяцев назад
Keep in mind that addon is heavier than some large loads on a semi in the game at 12 metric tons which is why I chose it. Pulling a hitch trailer is a good playstyle and all but concerning friction, you’re actually just hindering yourself. The reason I’ve used the fuel addon is it put significant amount of weight on the rear axle, kinda like a semi would. Every tire has a threshold and this test strip gets deeper with every marker point and still the tires did pretty well. My in game testing showed things that were a little different, but still every tire has a limit. You can be skeptical of the results and it’s odd.. I know, but it’s been tested for more than 2 years. In thick spots in game, ya the wider OHDs are just gonna go through things with weight on their back axles. However I did say that this is a good sidegrade with the increased width and did mention it would be a good option to folks for added buoyancy and balance. I think they are a good to have options in scenarios, but overall I like that there are width bonuses especially for the NA smaller trucks
@Sliphantom
@Sliphantom 8 месяцев назад
@@NProvince The issue I have isn't so much with the amount of weight as it is where the weight is distributed. Even if you're carrying 12t of the densest standard cargo in the game (concrete), there's no way to get all 12t of that over your drive wheels unless you're playing a TwinSteer or doing stuff like stacking it unpacked on top of your flatbed (which I know some people do, but that's an awfully risky way to play if you ask me). If you're running a 2x flatbed and 2x trailer, that's 6t over the rear wheels and 6t on dead axles. If you're running a semi trailer, the weight distribution is going to be better but even giving a generous estimate I can't imagine more than 9t of the weight actually being on the drive wheels most of the time. These are the conditions under which I do most bulk cargo hauling, and (unless I'm completely out of touch with this game) most others do as well. While it may not be optimal from a grip standpoint, I can't imagine using nothing but a 2x or 3x bed to do all the bulk cargo contracts on a level like Yukon without going stark-raving mad. It'd be interesting to see how the tires would stack up in a test with a loaded 5th wheel instead of the fuel. If I'm right, I suspect the results in a few categories would reverse themselves.
@NProvince
@NProvince 8 месяцев назад
@@Sliphantom Just ran tests on a strip that gets deeper as you drive with a loaded Semi trailer on a DAN96320 (4.4t semi trailer w/ 10t oil rig) with the OHS2 tires VS The new JAT MHS tires. The OHS2 did not have to downshift to Low from Low+ and did not succumb to sinking. The New JAT MHS tires had wheel spin issues on that last portion of the test strip forcing a downshift to no sink. They all finished, but at the meters per second, the OHS2 doubled their speed at the end. These things really depend upon things I mentioned in the video, ground clearance is a huge factor, but also tires are performing as I expected they would on real snowrunner maps where 95% of my testing has taken place over the past 3 years. I would use a double tire if I can, but if not I believe the OHS2 is the best option. Still I believe the JAT tires are a good side grade and well balanced for adequate grip and width for stability without going either all in on grip like the OHS2 or all in on Stability like the MHS2
@Sliphantom
@Sliphantom 8 месяцев назад
@@NProvince That really surprises me. The JAT MHS tires felt like a straight upgrade over the OHS2s on everything, especially in really soupy terrain. Maybe I'm more remembering encounters with submerged mud, or maybe its just my driving style.

I just tested them wirh full semi trailers loaded with heavy cargo and the OHS2 still outperform them by a good bit. I believe the JAT MHS tire are an inbetween tire. @mrvwbug4423

I could see the JAT tires being good on certain stability challenged trucks like the Vorons or a lot of the NA trucks. On the Kolobs, I think being able to tractor through super mud a little faster with the OG MSH2s is still going to win out, the Kolobs are not exactly stability challenged. For Tayga and ANK, I still don't really see a compelling reason to not use the TMHS/AMHS tires due to their better stability, ESPECIALLY on the ANK. They definitely look like a very nice upgrade for scouts though, like good enough to consider using more than just the few OP scouts.
@NProvince
@NProvince 8 месяцев назад
Vorons aren’t really challenged with balance except maybe the Voron D53233, but OHDs already have taken care of that. For the NA trucks sure, I did mention that in the review. Balloon tires on the Tayga and ANK is gonna be drivers call. The OHD1 on the Tayga is great and OHS2 along with other JAT OHD options. For the ANK, I like the JAT MMDs which only a few trucks get. This is huge for lateral stability, but indeed the balloons do a good job as well
@Don_Mag
@Don_Mag 6 месяцев назад
I did some tests by modifying the game files. I finally think I understand it completely. If there is not too much mud and the truck's clearance (but probably also its weight) allows you to hit a hard surface under the mud, use thinner tires with a high BodyFriction value. If the mud is really deep, nothing will help except wide tires (to keep the truck afloat - so basically only Tayga tires) and a high SubstanceFriction factor may help. Dual tires at the rear only help a little because the front dives and generates a lot of friction. In general, a high SubstanceFriction factor for narrower tires (assuming the truck weighs a bit) is probably not useful at all. Again, a wide tire, in medium and small mud it will be worse because it will not hit a hard surface. Worse (it will be slower), but it won't get stuck in very deep mud. Everything in between is some kind of balance. Now it doesn't surprise me that narrow tires are usually better (better means faster), because really deep mud is very rare. But it will just get stuck in this very deep mud. So Tayga tires are the best. They are not the fastest, but they have the best chance of not getting stuck. Additionally, they provide the best stability.
@NProvince
@NProvince 6 месяцев назад
Keep in mind that mud strip in the video getts deeper with every marker and it was actually pretty deep. To be honest, the balloons are the slowest through anything other than super mud and in 2023, I dont find merit in them because they are the least occuring area Since Amur and why just drive through those conditions anyways ya know? I would rather take a faster way. I've looked at all of xt-fletchers info on this and leaning in on folks that understand this as well. I do think you're on the right with understanding these. I just dont think the TMHS or AMHS tires are the pick over other tires inho
@Don_Mag
@Don_Mag 6 месяцев назад
@@NProvince They are not the best, but they are definitely the most stable. Using thinner tires reduces stability. It's true that there is no deep mud anymore. Difficult choice with these tires. At first I thought that MHS II and UOD II were the best tires, then it became more complicated, and now that I understand it, it is so complicated that thinking about it worsens my enjoyment of the game. I believe that the stability of the tire (due to its width) is a very important factor. If you tip over, you will lose much more time.

Thanks for testing. Some things came as no surprise. Scouts JAT levels the playing field. Even the notoriously tipy Scout 800 becomes quite forgiving. UOD 2 and OHD 1 out performing JAT was also expected. However the real surprise where MHS 1 out competing MHS 2 and JAT. Though like you said it's not that indicative to in game scenarios. Nice video and effort, very helpful. Just one thing, sorry if I missed it in video. The video shows how tires performs in this particular strip, not the whole game at all. It seems very light mud layer followed by dirt ground. It's not that much surprising that narrower tires with good dirt rating which can sink into dirt layer under heavy weight of the fuel tank bests wider tires even with more mud rating. IMHO MHS II will always beat MHS I in harsher mud/snow conditions, every single time. To the topic, I think JAT MS III, JAT MHS IV and JAT MSH II are real upgrades over vanilla equivalents (for everything harsher than light mud).
@NProvince

I shoulda mentioned that the mud strip gets worse at every marker on that strip. Thats why you see at the end, trucks start to struggle. I have tested in game as well like I mentioned part of that testing was on stream which is on the channel as well. In deepest conditions, ya buoyancy is gonna win

Nice video. I'll stick with the Jat MHS 2, I like them. Went back to OHD 1 & UOD 2 for offroad dully trucks. Gonna keep the TMHS/AMHS 1 on most trucks that have those minus the Zikz and could couple trucks that downgrade the tire size, which I instead went for the Jat 1 dully muds. @mrvwbug4423

I agree on the super heavies. Faster tractoring through super mud/blue snow would be my preference given those are often the trucks where you're dragging something huge through a deep mud pit or long section of blue snow, and stability is usually not an issue with them. If the JAT MSH's found their way onto the Azovs, that would OP to the point of being unbalanced however.

Hello! Did you test the ZiKZ 612H with its own tires vs the JAT MSH II / III? I'm really curious about that one. Also the TMHS/AMHS vs the OG MHS and the JAT MHS.
@NProvince
@NProvince 8 месяцев назад
So for any Zikz whether it’s the 605 or the 612H. Their ZHMs are far better than the new tires. The TMHS/AMHS are essentially floatations that will get through mud as a slow pace. The JAT MHS are a little faster than the MHS2. For this one I would say it’s up to the driver. Some tires I didn’t think needed to be mention due to have 2 prior videos on them explaining them fully. Those other 2 videos are in a pinned commment. Pertaining to the Zikz612 tires, I have an update video showing its buff to those tires making them quite insane
@FirebonE_88
@FirebonE_88 8 месяцев назад
@@NProvince, i didn't touch the 605R's tires because I know how good they are. Theoretically, the 612H tires should be even better, as their mud rating is slightly higher. However, they look out of place on the 612H. With the new wide JAT MSH III, the 612H looks much more like a real MAZ-7310. I'd hoped the JATs wouldn't be far from the 612H tires in term of performance because I like how the trucks looks with them on.

Pleas add width to excel. From what I see, width is also important when choosing tires. Did I understand correctly that MHS I is better despite having worse statistics because it is narrower?
@NProvince
@NProvince 8 месяцев назад
In the beginning, I showed where to find the correct data spread sheet showing width. The OHS2 are the best performing tire so far above them. All the test strip gets deeper with each marker and yes the MHs1 did well, but I’d still choose another mud tire over those or choose the OHS2, but the wider double tires are my go to in the game

I think driving the trucks with a saddle rather then the heavy gas attachment would give a more accurate performance review as most players wont drive around with the gas attachment most times. just mo good video though.
@NProvince
@NProvince Месяц назад
This was done due to that attachment weighing 12t. A lot of folks dont use saddle at all. Alot of them use a 2 slot bed, so I tried to get an addon that was heavier than a 2 slot sideboard bed (loaded) and somewhat comparable average weight as a semi trailer load. Not all the time are players pulling a fully loaded trailer so with all those things in mind; I felt this was a good go between. Also the longitudinal weight was set mostly in the rear with this addon which is was the intent. I believe with a saddle you would see similar results in timing except it would be a little extended doe to more friction due to trailer wheels being drug through the surface. Another thing to consider is how much of the 5 slot saddle is actually pressing down on rear axles directly based on load distribution. I'd say perhaps 3 1/2 slots.
@FledRecords2023
@FledRecords2023 Месяц назад
@@NProvince good point. I just think reviews should be based solely on truck weight with tire performance. With weight factoring into grip, having a heavy attachment would give false performance results. That’s just my opinion but either way good job on your videos Nate there good 😊

@@allbriardup6451 Ahh i see. So the need to downshift can be subjective in a sense, but I use principle from my video on Mudrunnin Tips to determine when downshift is needed to prevent sinking and maintaining forward movement. If you could show the time stamp I could further explain to you why the downshift happened. During these tests Usually the angular velocity hitting a point that merits a downshift so that was applied to keep things consistent.
