Jatayu Earth Center, is a park and the world's largest bird sculpture sculpted by Rajiv Anchal. It is situated at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala, which stands at an altitude of 1200ft above the mean sea level. The park which was named for Jatayu, was a demi-god in Ramayana (a Hindu epic) who had the form of a vulture. According to the epic, Ravana was attempting to abduct Sita to Lanka when Jatayu tried to rescue her. Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old Ravana soon defeated him, clipping his wings, and Jatayu fell onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam. Rama and Lakshmana while on the search for Sita, chanced upon the stricken and dying Jatayu, who informed them of the battle with Ravana. This sculpture is towered as a tribute to women’s safety and honour.And the place where Jatayu has attained Moksha on the lap of Lord Sri Ram, consists of Rama Paadam - the Holy Left Footprint of Lord Sri Ram, has now built a Lord Rama temple, which is also known as Kodandarama temple is stuated near to Jatayu Earth Center. Sri Jatayu Rama Kshetram is dedicated to the human race for the propagation and realisation of the legacy of Jatayu.
Nex we visited the Kappil Beach which is located in Edava Panchayat of Paravoor at the coast of Arabian Sea. It is 18 km (11 mi) north of Kollam city centre and Paravoor Railway station is major railway station near Kappil.Kappil Beach is a beautiful beach-backwater destination located near Varkala, the famous tourist spot. A drive through Kappil is as scenic as it can get; the road is flanked by the azure blue of the Arabian sea on one side while the serene waters of Edava Lake is on the other.
