I had the opportunity to see Pandit Nehru every year from 1952 to 1955 on the Dussehra day in Ram Lila Ground in Delhi. It was very shoking to hear his demise on 27 May 1964. If I correctly remember he was holidaying in Dehradun,. Yet to see a Statesman of his calibre and personality. Likewise I had personally seen Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mrs Indra Gandhi and President Dr Rajendra Prasad.
What a great statesman!! Pandit Nehru's legacy is the Modern India achievement in the field of Democracy, Science and Technology. He is the lighthouse which will always guide our nation to the shore whenever we will get lost in the sea of ambiguity, intolerance & communal hate. @@anands9194 there may be lots of aspects and perception of same thing. Nehru was the choice over Patel never justify the deteriorated India after independence. As we know, it was the unfortunate consequences of British rule for notable time period. Patel was too an apt choice, no doubt, but I think India would have been through the same fate after independence as we were facing multidimensional deficit.

Wonderful footage of his first TV interview. What was remarkable was that he spoke from his heart and his responses were spontaneous, and truthful. When one of the interviewers tried to corner him on international alliances, he replied candidly that geography matters and what is felt as important to Europe, may not be the most important issue for India/Asia. He was almost childlike enjoying the occasion; brilliant and charming at the same time.
