I know a couple came here for Pope but these players seem like they’re actually playing for Kentucky after Pope let them actually experience the State of Kentucky. I didn’t even hear a full handful of players from Cals 10+ years here actually talk about Kentucky basketball history, winning banners and just love for the State (especially rural Kentucky).
This was refreshing. It was great to hear these articulate vets speaking to the media. Don't get me wrong, we had a lot of wonderful, intelligent kids under Cal, but even for the most well-spoken, media day was often a bit of a struggle. This was very different. It was older guys who were comfortable with the press and quick with their answers.
Hopefully, the game Jaxson has circled on the calendar is Texas AM. Obviously, no extra motivation is needed for the Arkansas game, but losing to TXam twice last year was embarrassing.
