Hells bells baby! Gonna release another special later this year in 2020, hope you continue to follow my stand up, social and especially my podcast, that's where I keep my fans the most informed.
This was a pretty good hour... ...but where we at on the budget? Edit: I totes forgot about this comment. I come back 4 years later, and it blew up!!!! Wow. Thanks to all y'all.
ryan williams Shut the fuck up you condescending asshat. Oh, what, because he's not quite Louis CK or something? Jay is fucking hysterical you joyless sack of turds
Hey man, I appreciate that. Grass roots you know what I mean? When you share, we all win. Thanks for watching and please continue to support my stand up and podcast! Hope to get on the road near you soon.
You know one of the benefits of making your own special is that you can decide what content you put in there. No way any network would have gone for that bit! Appreciate you supporting! Please share with friends.
@@JayLarsonComedy I loved your stand up, man ❤ Also the end really sucker punched me in the feels haha, I also grew up without my dad, and I appreciate that message 😁 Much Love from Austria
I rolled the dice watching this special because I'd never heard of Jay before an hour ago but I can't say I'm disappointed.. good call RU-vid recommendations
You rolled the dice you said? You are very passionate about anything arent you? hahaha........I just pick whatever video almost randomly just to watch something....but apparently you take the video choosing as a very important thing to do hahaha
@@Nayo68 an hour is a long time to invest when you have unlimited options for videos to click, and it's especially true with comedians because there is some terrible content on RU-vid... I'm curious, what makes you think of Jay like that? Saying he's a piece of shit is pretty extreme so it must come with reasoning
Maybe my favorite comment on here. I love that Wrong Number bit more than anything but it does Pidgeon hole you sometimes. If anything that joke embodies what I am about, taking the tiny little moments from life and really exploring them, not passing them over. I appreciate you seeing that and supporting! That's what my entire podcast is about, looking at the small things in life and absorbing them completely.
That dad bit hit me on all cylinders, guess mostly because I never dealt with my emotions when my dad passed away and it just opened up floodgates of tears. Thank you dude very good special!
Hey man, I hear you, I am constantly dealing with my dad issues. In all honesty I don't think men take their role as a dad serious enough. It is so important. I feel like Mom's are expected to be amazing and Dad's are expected to pick up golf when they have kids. I appreciate you watching and hope you continue to support.
@@JayLarsonComedy Yeah np dude I loved the balance of laughs and cries! Keep winning my dude, my hopes of you live performing in Sweden might be far fetched hope Ill make it to the states to see a liveshow there one day!
I like that! Where were you when I was working on a title? BTW, coming up with a title was the hardest thing for me to do. I am terrible at that. I made a web series called "Self Taught" it's on my youtube page. I was always a fan of that title. Thanks for watching.
@@JayLarsonComedy 10 to 1 I was in bed waiting for when I'd have to go to work or for death to take me. You're welcome to use the name for another special. I don't have the energy to claim ownership of a mental illness. I will check your other work out cause I can't be alone with my thoughts for more than five minutes.
I'm living up 40 miles from the Canadian border in Idaho, haven't seen the sun in 2 weeks, it's cold and dark and I'm totally alone, my family and my 12 year old labrador are in California and I haven't seen them in 6 months, home sick and depressed. I just gotta tell you man this helped me so much to laugh and just be happy for the first time in months, you're a master story teller and hope life opens more doors for you, you're a hilarious and humble guy, and a great dad! Cheers man cant wait to keep hearing about your future, you're a rare silver coin!
This made me laugh and it made me feel. Like you use comedy as a medium to tell a story and express yourself. You are very genuine and that makes your jokes relatable and fantastically funny. Keep it going!
Honestly- I listen to his pod cast , heard prior stand up & follow him on social media ... Seen him with his kids a lot lately and this explains why lol but seriously HIS BEST WORK !!!! I laughed till I cried... if u have kids you ll agree, also lost my mom recently and can sympathize. Best stand up in a very long time!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 keep doing you Jay
Thanks Shaun. This comedy game is a weird one and tricky to figure out at times. I am kind of old school which means sometimes I do things in an old school way. So it might take me longer to get to where I need to be. But as long as I have people listening I will keep making jokes and putting out my podcast the #thruline each week! Thanks for watching bud.
Had to read them to make sure I acknowledged everyone who took the time to show some love. And you are very welcome, I busted my ass to make it and am glad I was able to get it out there like this! More to come in 2020!
I've seen the replies you've given people on this video and it's so cool seeing a celebrity actually interact with fans and so politely and down to earth, a total 180 from telling a bit where you should cut your kids lol love your work Jay, people like you inspire me in my childhood dream of being a standup comedian
Ed please tell me you aren't driving! Thanks for watching. You know I podcast as well, the #Thruline, every Thursday so we can have lunch together every week if you want? Was that weird to say?
i seen his wrong number skit this morning and i immediately got scooped in, this guy is amazing. The ending was very sad but most importantly inspirational.
Great show with a memorable touching story at the end but beyond that I just noticed that like .... Wow Jay Larson I have never seen a comedian take that much effort into replying to comments .... I appreciate that
Still working on that budget! Thanks for watching and I hope you listen to my podcast the #thruline, you get a little bit of me every week. You can also listen to my channel on Pandora or Spotify. Thanks for listening!
Wow. That ending hit me hard. I needed to hear that. I’ve been struggling to understand my self worth. Rarely do you walk away from a standup with something you needed, other than a good laugh. Thank you, sir. You definitely made a fan out of me for life. I appreciate you very much.
Shout out to FTCF love!! Jay is now, and always has been a comedy beast! Love seeing him doing it in his own way. Guest 100 on “The Honeydew w/ Sickler” pod put me back on this special! Let’s pay back all they have given us and push this over a Million hits before November is done! Show the love!! Thank you Jay!
I enjoyed this so much I didn’t even realize it had been an hour! The ending though...my dad left when I was 6 and I didn’t hear from him for 11 years. He actually did keep tabs on me and my sister as we grew up, but it offended and hurt me more than anything to find out. A distant relative I didn’t even know existed had been filling my dad in on my life through the years; I couldn’t understand how he could talk about me, but never to me. The ending got me.
FUDDLEYP JONES My dad and I have talked at great lengths about the past and his actions. I do understand why he left and I am beyond grateful for the way life happened. My mom handled his leaving beautifully; she never spoke ill of my dad and knew he would contact us again one day, so she left our house phone in service with the same number (he called that same number after all those years). My dad speaks highly of my mother and still loves her. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have both parents, and I see so many great fathers who are being kept from their kids. It breaks my heart for those men. I agree, all you can do is love your daughter from afar and be there when she comes around, and she will. I don’t know if you like to write, but I would suggest keeping an open letter to your daughter and writing in it as often as you think about her. Then one day you can give/send it to her so she knows how much you think about her and wish she was in your life.
First special I've watched the whole way through in a while. Great material and perfect delivery. I love conversational style storytelling and this was a masterclass.
I appreciate that. Was a big jump to do that story but that is a perk of producing your own special, you can decide on the material yourself. Thanks for watching and following.
I found a short with half the wrong number skit. I then found the entire skit on Conan. After I performed self resuscitation because I nearly laughed myself into a negative pressure pneumathoric coma I hunted down every single bit I could find. Jay, you are a scholar and a gentlemen. Your acts are pure gold, and I absolutely adored every one of them. Here's to much, much more!
Appreciate that. A special at Netflix, HBO, Showtime would be great. But in the meantime I will keep making content for everyone that wants to see it! Follow my podcast and you can keep up on all I am up to. #Thruline
2 years later, this dude is still fucking fearless. I loved this special. He's just on the right side of the line we all draw between what we'll tell people and what's actually true about ourselves.
Supposedly plagiarised but that's why I'm here, the viral vid on fb, and I'm running out of comedians to watch, my faves are dead 🤨 no new George Carlin or Mitch Hedberg specials
Thanks man, my favorite too! Appreciate the hell out of you for taking this in. And hope you tune into my podcast The #Thruline each week, gives you a little bit more of me!
I appreciate that. I think our outlook is all we got right? Not that easy to keep it focused on the positive though that's for sure. But we keep trying! Thanks for watching!
@@JayLarsonComedy Jay, I loved it so much as well, as you've maybe seen from my multiple comments. Sometimes in the bit you even had that Ricky Gervais look and feel, but with the Larson touch. What I also love about this special is the kind of (this is not a bad thing) culturally centrist POV of it - it felt like you related to the whole world with your words, you didn't overdrown it in Murican or Anglocentric culture, and you acknowledged other cultures apart from the anglocentric (including UK, AUS, US, and even Europe for good measure), what I'm trying to say is: you put your special (if it were a Salad) into a 'Global Dressing' of sorts, and managed to get on the 'relate' instead of the 'generic' path (the latter of which is where most comedians land if the try this route). But with you it comes so naturally, as you try to relate to stuff that everyone no matter where they live can relate to, without you being boring or carbon-copy-feeling in your lines and deliveries for even a single moment. Great job man, you're up there with the greats as far as comedy is concerned. I know you're a very humble guy so don't even feel forced to reply, just take the compliment man - you deserve it :) Would love to see you on Rogan one day, who knows, it coule happen and the two of you would get along great 😁
Jay Larson First of all, holy crap, thank you for replying to me! And also, thank you for being a badass role model and inspiration to me. I’m finishing college just so I don’t hate myself but the goal is to do comedy! Wish me luck and good luck to you!
So many great comics out of Boston, super proud to be a guy from boston who does comedy. I started in Los Angeles but love going back to perform in Boston. I appreciate the love. Obviously you know Burr and Dane but also check out Josh Gondleman, Don Gavin and Gary Gullman, his new special is great and his joke about the abbreviations of the states is amazing!
Donnie! You're sweet. In all honesty they were amazing. The room was big and when you produce your own special budget is definitely a limit. And one of those limits was crowd miss. When a giant network produces a special the y mic the hell out of the audience. Hoping next time we can go the extra mile for that. I also think the next special will be in a much more intimate environment! Appreciate you watching and continue to support.
I Guess you didn’t watch to the end, because they loved him. And I usually notice that kind of thing, but it didn’t occur to me because he was so great!
@@1chrismj I did. As he said, crowd mic wasn't the best. So for alot of parts you don't hear that big of a reaction from the crowd. He cleared it up though 👍
Actually I loved the crowd. They were genuine, friendly, funny and the stand ovations at the end are real ones, so they loved it as much as we couch watchers did, I'm sure 😁❤
Such a great stand-up routine. Honest, hilarious, and emotionally dynamic. I was born and raised in metro Boston, like Jay was, so for me Jay's routines feel so familiar, like a hilarious stranger just telling it like it is.
