This video follow's Jay along on his 2017 Archery Elk hunt in the Wenaha unit. We are beginners at filming so parts are rough but we just wanted to film this hunt to have the memories to look back on. This was an epic hunt

Had the pleasure of hunting the weneha this year with my buddy, had a blast, bulls screaming the whole time, tagged out on a 367 4/8 inch bull, I would definitely recommend applying for the tag lots of big bulls
Awesome hunt guys! Nice bull. Seems like you don't hit the cow call to much. You stay on the bugle almost right up to your shot. Not how I was taught but looks like it works! Heck I think it all works sometimes and sometimes nothing works. lol Thanks again for the upload.
We started off cow calling but it was actually scaring them off!!! They were responding more to the bugle!!! It was probably because it was more pre-rut is my guess!
Yeah we started out cow calling and with so many big Bulls in the unit they got fired up and responded well to Buggles. Other units in OR we usually hunt cow calling is what we use, almost seems like bugling scares some away sometimes
It wasn’t easy but that was the first morning of that 2nd trip. We had hiked in miles and had food for 7+ days. We weren’t in a big rush and that unit isn’t full of big bulls. It was worth the wait, the bull jay killed was quite a bit bigger than that one. 48” inside spread. Any other place he’s a shooter. I’d shoot a spike in a normal DIY public land hunt in Oregon
Congrats to Jay and you guys , nice job filming I had the premium tag there 2016, ended up passing on everything during my archery hunt the 1st month, very hard to do since I had never passed up on anything before. Best thing about drawing that tag was that it did not take away any of my points and added 1 so now I am sitting at 22 for the Wenaha Non Resident. I think as near as I can figure there are only a couple of other applicants that have that many points and they usually put in for rifle. I did want to ask you what camera equipment you used your filming was very sharp, I have used a Gopro before and it came out poor. Anyway great video cant wait to get there again!
Wow! drawing that tag in the first year of Premium tags is pretty sweet. You should be good to go with 22 points too. Good luck and feel free to let us know how it goes and what you get
You guys should be so proud of what you did. This was your first time and If you keep that in mind I think you hit a home run. I really liked it, but maybe adding some music and cutting out a few things would help. Overall for your first time I would rate it 6.5 out 10.
Thanks, it was a lot of fun and a learning experience! I’ve heard that adding music can cause videos to be removed unless you have permission so we decided to skip it
Eric Downes Interesting about the music. Maybe publish two version and see what happens? You guys got in the Elk a lot, and had some epic encounters. That's what every elk Hunter wants, and you showed it!

eardrums bleeding in 3. 2. 1............. caller shouldn't be cameraman. that was tough to listen to. Great hunt though. I was there during rifle season - tagged out. Beautiful country and some gorgeous bulls.
I guess none of you know what dont move means? Jesus does the guy hunting have restless leg syndrome or what? Jesus I couldn't hunt with you guys as much as you all move around as much as you do
Yeah Todd it was a long clip for sure. I put this video together mostly for my best friend's dad to be able to look back an remember the trip. I debated trimming it down but if was probably our best actual footage so I figured I'd leave the whole thing. This was my first time actually putting a video together so its a learning process but i'll keep it in mind, thanks
