jay z never really didn't lose as much as ended the beef cause that babyseat line is more fucked up than anything nas said in either AND could actually be true, not fiction. but he was told he took it too far, and respected how his mother felt about his actions and with Nas mom dying their whole beef was based off a mutual respect still. this song is underrated. and he used a Nas beat. and after this beef ended. jay dropped a double album & collabed the next year
The problem was, the people actually voted. The people chose Ether. So even though Jay dropped this and it was definitely more brutal the people would have had to go with it and say this was it. When I heard this I thought it was cold, but with the beats... I though the aint take it seriously enough. And while Take Over was dope, this wasn't really a dope song... so he wasted his silver bullet playing. If this beat had been cold and he had taken it seriously it might have been different.

Things Jay had told her in bed that she knew would really hurt him to the soul. That's why Nas kept taking shots at his fat lips and his looks multiple times. People didn't know the damage those lines did, cos they were simple, but Nas knew exactly what he was doing.

As a huge Nas and Jay-Z fan equally, even though Nas "won the beef", this clapback from Ether wasn't a soft ass clapback. The only reason why Jay Z decided to end the beef was because his own mom called him and said he took it too far with this song, and that affected him deeply so he decided to "be the bigger person" and apologize to his mom, Nas, and to everyone that could've been involved with the beef. So if you consider that a win from Nas, then that's totally fair, but you can't say Jay didn't go down without a fight, a super ugly one at that.

Ether was so hard I don't recall if it was played on the radio or not but still was a major hit song even if you don't listen to Nas you still knew about it some how. Nas is my 2nd favorite rapper im from Cali and I will be real I dont never really hear nobody listen Nas out here but that Ether was definitely getting played by us Californians.
Takeover is better than Ether .... But hey the best things about this is that it didn't end being like BIG and Pac and both HOV and Nas are still here with us. They kept the beef lyrical and physical. ✊🏾

As far as just straight up dissin' goes this goes way harder than 'Ether'. Jay fucked up by not going full on at Nas in the 'Takeover'. People didn't wanna hear more after 'Ether', despite Jay not havin' a full song going at Nas. He just had the 'Takeover' verse and some other subliminals at that point.
