Did the Jaybird Vista 2 earbuds deserve a second chance? Some commenters in my last review seemed to think so, so I gave these another go. Did they do better this time round, with the firmware update (and yes, I actually bought them AGAIN to try)
A solid pair of earphones is ESSENTIAL to listen to guided meditations, educational podcasts, music for sports and working out - plus one more thing I need them for that's probably not manufacturer-recommended. Will these end up in my everyday carry bag from now on? Keep watching!

I had 2 pairs of Jaybird Freedom 2, and the vista 1. I love this brand especially the vista 1.I’m using almost everyday for sports and at work. The sound is amazing, the look is great, the fit is perfect for my active workouts.It’s amazing but I still doesn’t feel safe riding my bike with them because the passive noise cancellation is way too good. I’m really interested by these new earbuds vista 2. Thanks for your honest post-review

Yeah! I’ve loved Jaybird since I had the X4, then the Tarah Pro! They’re a solid brand… but I guess there’s still some improvement that can be made on the Vista 2. You’re welcome!

I know right? They’re an IP68 waterproof rating which means they can handle rain/ mud/ outdoor splashes… and technically they can’t handle showers buuuuuut… mine have been fine so far in and out of the steam room and in and out from under cold showers in between. I don’t submerge them of course, but they definitely get a little drenched and have been fine! (One user’s experience only of course) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for the info and update. Ive always been a Jaybird fan for a long time, had my Vista's for 2+years now. Only problem with them is the batteries are getting old 😂. It kinda worried me when I saw the Vista and Vista 2's are now the same price. I saw the 2's don't have the same top notch reputation as the first. So it's good to see the problems most people have with them are things I could easily overlook. Definitely investing in these, thanks again.

You’re so welcome! As a long-time Jaybird fan (love the Tarah Pro!) these took a bit of adjusting to… as long as you know what the quirks/ faults are going into it, they’re still a solid pair of earbuds for sure! 👍

I’ve used several styles and brands and minus the Bluetooth signal drops all I did to make them perfect was cut the sound bud tip off the eargels multiple family members have bought and did the same thing including couple iOS product users … new eargel replacements range round $20 so risk well worth taking

I LOVE the ear hooks on these though, and that’s one of my requirements for any ear buds. Funny how you’re the opposite!

Left bud died on my Vista 2 set. Received as a gift, used them for 4 months then left bud completely died (kept them very clean). Tried everything, tech support couldn't help, wouldn't honor a replacement. NEVER GOING BACK TO JAYBIRDS AGAIN.

Oh dear! Well these were wet when I put them back in their case and I essentially killed them (my fault). But it was still under warranty and they replaced them with no questions… soooo… I guess everyone has a different experience! (They’re still by no means perfect and switching Bluetooth connections between iPhone and laptop/Zoom can be a pain often… but I haven’t found a better alternative at the moment for all the requirements I’ve got for Bluetooth buds!)

They are amazing headphones, I have a question since you have been using them for a long time now, how is the durability, I know my Tarah pro headphones stared having issues after a year, first the controls stopped working and them a few months later the left earphone stoped wotking

So far so good. I even bring these into the steam room so they get a little wet. As long as you don’t get the metal charging contact points wet they seem ok.

Hi Jaime.. I live in Rotterdam, therefore I know how windy Netherlands can be. Sometimes I prefer to turn off the sound management instead of use ANC or SurroundSense due winds. Try also this option, maybe fits to you. =)

Hi Rafael! And yes, these days I cycle with only one bud in my ear with all sound management turned off. The buds have such a good noise seal I can’t have both in when I’m in traffic, even with no sound management!

Have you tried the smaller gels with these? I have quite small ear holes, but also think I will need larger wingtips -- considering you can't mix and match, I'm wondering what your experience is of the different gels?

There’s not much to it really - it fits or it doesn’t! The size of the wing tips don’t matter as much coz the hook already helps keep it in place… I’ve not had any issues with the gels.

They r cool just the wind sound riding bike n the qirky diconect besides that they would of been near perfect n would of baught a new pair but they fail for me in those areas !

Hey Jaime thanks for your tipps. Very helpful. My Vista 2s do sound much better now. Since I also want to use them for calls, do you have any suggestions how to fix that "wind" problem? All my call partners said that they only hear wind when I call them from outside, even with low wind strength. Unfortunately, the wind blocker function does not help here. Thx in advance.

I have the same problem! I can’t talk while I’m cycling coz the person on the other line can’t hear with the wind (which never was a problem with the Tarah Pros). Haven’t figured out this one yet, but when I do I’ll let you know on this comment thread! 👍

How did you get both colors, black and white, and the white headphones don't get dirty easily? and if this happens, is it easy to clean them? Thank you for your attention. Hi Eduardo! I first bought the blue ones in Summer last year, but returned them after a couple weeks as I wasn't happy with them. I had a previous review on the reasons why (search my channel for it), and that's why I have some shots with the blue ones. A month or so later, I ended up buying them again reluctantly coz no other earbuds had all the features I wanted, but also learned about the firmware update which helps reduce the wind noise factor a lot! The second time I bought them, I chose the "nimbus grey" (that's the official colour of the 'white' ones - they're not really white, they're a very light grey, like an off-white). And it's been no problem with keeping them clean. I've even dropped the case on the pavement outside and it's still looking as good as new. I wouldn't worry about them getting dirty coz they've been OK!

But the updates and features these Jaybirds offer makes perfect sense. I confess that I am in doubt between these and the beats fit pro. But just knowing that they don't get dirty easily makes me feel more relaxed if my choice is really for the jaybirds. Thank you for your kind attention. Have a nice weekend.

Heya, I don’t know if it was the same before the firmware update, but the Bluetooth connection is definitely a little buggy. It sometimes takes a while to connect, or if I’m switching between laptop to iPhone, it takes a while to connect too.

@@ardlishahlinaardli9031 well I love the truly wireless experience now. I still find myself turning off all SurroundSense when I’m on my bike in traffic as the wind sounds can often get in the way. I haven’t really thought about the Tarah Pros in a while… so I guess I’ve adapted! (But it’s not like a “hell yes!” But a… “I guess so…?”)

I found the correct setting after the latest firmware update and it definitely helped the wind issue! I thought I also made it clear that while on the windiest of days in Amsterdam the wind issue is still there (and the hair brushing issue too), it’s a lot less terrible than it was before. It’s not the most ideal, but no other earphones have the level of waterproofing and ear-fin-hook that I need in my use cases… so yes, I changed my mind - not entirely, but after I learned about the update and settings I figured that I could work with this and live with it. And that’s why I thought it was important to also share the update and my shift in opinion too! It would have been wrong of me to keep only the first review up when I’d discovered something new about these and as a result shifted my opinion. No? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fair point! But there are earphones where you can still hear the environment around you without sealing off all the sound… so if we can have both, why not? 😬🤗

@@jaimetan I agree the ambient on these is really good. An ASMR dream, really. But I find myself really startled still because it amplifies loud noises. I don’t think it’s the equivalent of no earbuds or just listening to maybe a speaker on a bicycle. I get people are still going to do what they want but I don’t think it makes it as safe as no earbuds.
