Kitchen countertop extension and backsplash to the right of the stove are needed. Agree with the comment that the bedside closets should extend full length, possibly with a drawer. I rather like the ones that have the rear cubby--standardizes the cabinet across several models while providing useful space. 👍 Existing design appears to accommodate a king mattress without additional modifications. Cost savings for the manufacturer; inefficient for the owner. Prefer 12V refrigerator--and we boondock (western US). But we have an older rig that we renovated and completely rewired with solar. It took us two years to do 90% of the renovations. We used it for six months to finalize the last few things, and still tweak the odd thing periodically. For the most part, we can stay out about three weeks before dumping/refilling and general restocking. We usually try to stay at a campground with hookups and laundry facilities for two or three nights each month. Laundry, deeper cleaning and general vehicle and rig maintenance. It's amazing what can shake loose when traveling! A little inspection and prevention goes a long way--particularly in an older home or rig. :-) We have standardized bed sizes--home and rig--to queen and twin. Tired of having four sizes of linens! ... Teale 🏜️
For road mode turn the free standing table sideways . queen bed, Franken table, theater seats, full solar/inverter.... Can they make the far cabinet/nightstand a floor to ceiling hanging closet with the nook nightstand in the back?
I have the same in '21 model and it's a great unit. I pull this rig with a GMC Sierra 1500 5.3, max tow package easily, but I agree it's a bit heavy on the pin.. I have 1960# payload on my truck and really on the limit ... I try to put more stuff in the pantry, and moved the spare tire pass the rear axle to take off a little weight from the pin . I think it helped, just need to go back on the scale to see the new results . Thanks Josh for another great video !!!
Hey Josh, Tell Jayco to make this floorplan in a full Eagle. It would be a little longer with the Eagle bath and bedroom but still shorter than all the other eagles. I'd buy that tomorrow!
I must be related to your wife, I always have a blanket on my lap. That pantry--be still my heart. I assume there is a light up top, if not a battery-powered light is an easy fix. For the dining, I'd like to see a hybrid with a bench on the outside wall and 2 chairs next to the theater seat. Bedroom, extend the bedside wardrobes all the way down and do the pockets. I'm assuming they do these this way for the queen\king easy swap. Slide for either a closet or bed, there's probably already several options like that.
Wow, I have been very surprised at the sudden deep discounts of the past few months when compared to the price gouging increases and virtually no discounts during Covid😮A small win for consumers👍
Appreciate all the info but especially on what's required to tow a particular model. And yeah, JD has lots of good info on what's required to safely tow your rig.
Love this unit, soon I will be retired and need exactly this 5th wheel style. Only thing I would change is adding a built in desk where the dinning table is for my two monitors and laptops to do video editing and photography. Btw love your videos very informative thankyou so much.
Nice floor plan. To bad they didn’t put an outside kitchen in it, and why couldn’t they put a feee standing folding table & chairs in the dinette area so you can access the entire kitchen when in travel mode. The front closet is a great idea too.
It’s so funny.. a bunch of people have said the same thing yet that’s exactly what this model USED to have when people asked for no camp kitchen lol See my videos on the previous 25.5REOK and you’ll see what I mean
You are 100% correct on your HT= Half Ton Towable comment. I think the auto manufacturers should share responsibility in misleading the public by giving outrageous vehicle weight ratings without the cargo capacity required to take advantage. Oh well. My .02. Also be aware if you go with the 16" wheel option the 3 step Solid Step will be out of MorRyde's height spec. Jayco should put the 4 step version when taking this option.
Hey Josh I think it's great the way it is if it can be towed by an F150 half ton safely. the one thing I would like is the 12v. fridge. Wouldn't a slide in the bedroom make it heavier on the tongue? They knocked it out of the park if it's true half ton towable.
Our previous camper we owned for 18 yrs with a gas/electric frig. We ordered the Flagstaff 22FBS with the 12 volt frig and have had it for a year and we absolutely love the 12 volt frig with the solar package!
My wife and I purchased a 2023 24RE that was built in December of 2022, We ordered it with the gas /electric 6gal water heater and it came in with the tankless water heater. We do a good bit of camping where there is no water hook up. My wife hates how long it takes to get hot water to the kitchen sink and the wasted water waiting for it. There was a few other items that disappeared from the show room to the delivery but I ordered them after market because they really mattered. Other than that we are happy. I pull this with a 2019 GMC 1500 max tow and have no issues at all towing in the mountains of Western Maryland and West Virginia.
Always tricky when a customer's order crosses that cusp for the next model year. I wished MFGs would be more proactive in notifying dealers/clients when that happens
Absolutely awesome couple’s camper, and that bathroom fan is still 100 times better than a Dollar Store 4 inch fart fan! This might just be a side splash and some “standard” solar away from👍👍👍
Smart move going with the 3 step MoRyde steps. My 2021 Eagle HT 27R came with 4 step setup and they were too long. Lots of issues with getting step low enough to close door. I finally took it out and replaced it with Tork Lift scissor steps which have much more flexibility.
I live in a Salem, have the 12 volt fridge and love it. My next rig will have it also for sure. I love the floor in this fifth wheel, even love the slide and I usually hate slides. The fewer slides the better for me. Queen bed is perfect for me. Do they use frameless windows? All in all I like this trailer a lot.
I really like this 5er. I have a Shasta Phoenix 25MK which has almost exactly the same specs as this one. But I like the floorplan of this one much better. I wish it was around when I bought mine in 2019.
Beautiful. One thing I would change? A true half-ton fifth wheel with no slide. Saves weight, maybe could make even shorter. Excellent for single or couples traveling.
@@guardrail2897 I said something similar about this model in my update. There are F-150's that can handle the weights with room to spare. However with the larger walls and taller height of 5th wheels I would want the extra weight of a 250/2500 series truck or larger to handle wind sway and push.
Josh, I’m concerned over the dolor powered fridge 🤔! I’m hearing it gobbles power so unless you’re plugged in or it’s bright sunlight, I see dead batteries in a future over a propane/12v fridge! I think lots of us don’t understand the solar system stuff yet!
Half booth two chair is awesome. Flip up counter next to sink would be great. 1 extra foot length would make end tables possible and a little more counter space between fridge and stove would be fabulous. Which would make fold out bed option easier. I actually think that was a fabulous place for the fireplace for a few reasons. A slide for east west and front closet would be perfect. Pretty sure by then we’ve bumped into a whole new model. But this has such great features I hope to see in other models.
Josh, thanks for your videos. When looking for a couples 5th wheel The #1 item is storage and #2 is length. A full bed slide is obvious and stop with the '28'10"' stuff, just bump to 30 for the bed slide. Everyone has their preferences I know....
Cutie patotie of a li'l unit.. Everything you need, nothing ya don't... Yeah, a 12 v fridge would be a winner for me. And all that solar, wow, boondocker heaven
Keystone seems to be doing it like I would want an exclusive 12 volt fridge set up. Lithium battery, 200 watt solar minimum, and inverter to run it. I like the 2 way for now when we buy again probably will be 12 volt or even residential if the solar and batteries progress.
I'm just an L shaped sofa person, dog and I snuggle and rather a double wide chair instead of dinette. I love a tub instead of just a shower (prev. broken back n love to soak for a few). I LOVEEEE the hidden pantry, love it! Have alot of baking stuff & this is perfect. Wish it had bed slide out so there could be drawers. REGARDLESS.....I LOVE THIS TRAILER!!
1500 pin weight seems hefty for such a small rig… won’t be many half tons towing that one! (Which you pointed out at the end… lol Teaches me not to comment before the video finishes! 😂)
@@JoshtheRVNerd I think the east/west option allows for more room to dress/undress. Moving the washer/dryer to the front with a closet allows for a larger shower in the bathroom too.
You seem to be the only one who displays the rigs with slides in. This is important to many owners/ potential owners! Can the table easily be made to fold down from the wall...or as others have suggested, be turned 90deg and secured for road mode? Would make the unit completely accessible with slide in. Great review BTW!
I didn’t used to. Stuff like that (and most of what I do anymore r ally) is based on viewer input So keep letting me know what’s useful and what I could do better!!
I pretty much have the same options from last year really can't get much easier then this. short, one slide, light weight. This would be perfect for like a 3/4 ton diesel or a gas 3/4 up no half ton like ya said. I feel like a closet slide would make things seem to busy without reconstructing the entire front which isn't worth it. Was in one of these with the craftsmen decor definitely like it alot👍👍
I'm split on the closet slide idea. I feel like this is already pushing half tons (and really almost none are fit for it). The extra weight wouldn't change the vehicle. The storage could be super handy -- ESPECIALLY if someone wanted to install the W/D unit which would eat all the current closet space BUT.. more weight. More cost. More seals.
I really like this one with the option of a washer and dryer on a smaller unit. I don't think I have seen many in this size that can. The TV and recliner are at a perfect spot. I would go with the fridge off grid capable.
I do like your bedroom suggestions. I would like the bed slide. the wife likes front closets in a bed slide config. I prefer a dresser and front window with the bed slide.
Prefer a propane/electric fridge in every situation. I boondock every so often and I personally wouldn’t buy a R.V. without a fridge that had the option of running on propane. 🤷♂️ OR Each manufacturer that does not offer a propane option fridge they must include 1 extra 200w solar panel on the roof from the factory to offset the compressor fridge. Extra. Meaning 2 200w panels. These are the only two options. And I wouldn’t budge.
I don't see the need for the door in the bathroom to the storage area in the bedroom. Put in a regular max air fan in the bathroom. I'm single but Taco Tuesday still makes my eyes water. I would likea 12 volt electric refrigerator/freezer. I would want all four charirs for the kitchen table to be the folding type. I like them! One last thing. Jayco, could you make part of the rear storage with a hanging bar for coats and other items? Even with the good and bad this is a great fifth wheel RV. Thank you for the video Josh.
t's nice to know that there are so many possible options. I do like this unit. Great stunt, Josh, do they pay you extra for that? Or are you just throwing that in out of the goodness of your heart? I really like the colours in this unit.
There isn't much I would change about that, given the size, Jayco did a really good job with it. I suppose if I bought one and used it regularly I would find something I'd wish they done different. I'd probably leave the bedroom/bathroom closet, W/D prep area just as it is and use laundromats instead.
Whatever happened to the 3 way fridge?? My parents had an RV years ago and we replaced the fridge with a 3 way because the RV was in a flood and my dad got it for next to nothing and we stripped and rebuilt it from the framing in. Talk about options!!
Hey Josh, first of all thanks for the video. Help me out with this one. I have always had a gas/electric fridge I’m not sure how these 12 V work for instance, I pull into Boondock at night , Will a lead acid 12 V battery(s) Keep a refrigerator operating overnight while at the same time possibly running some lights and accessories etc.? Anyhow, thanks again JTRVN!!!!
with enough solar battery power, 12v fridge be fine for boondocking, one less expense and stop to make as well, all you need is food and water and beer. far as washing machine in the closet, no problem... just put a rod in the closet behind tv for your coats and work clothes if need be. plenty of room in there for whatever. most clothes are fine folded somewhere, just need to hang your formal out to dinner or work wear really, and coats for cold weather. if i am out camping, chances are i wont have my work suits with me...nor heading out to a 5 star steak house from the camp site... but if full timing and living in it, the closet behind tv is good place for those things if you have the washer installed. no need to add anything extra but a pole to hang things one in there. the everyday tshirts jeans and sweat pants can be folded and stuffed into any drawer or shelf. and nobody puts boxers and socks on a hanger. even if have guests over sleeping it would work well enough... so put on sweats and go get your suit from the living room behind tv.. so i dont really see a need to add any more furniture or storage space or change anything, just put a pole in closet behind tv. you could damn near put a bicycle in there standing front tire to ceiling as it is, it has room for hanging clothes... worst that happens you have to shove them out of the way to get to what on the shelf. like many other standard closets anyway, it just might be a box of cheerios instead of pair of shoes only difference.... i would use space behind tv almost like a safe.. to store things i do not need to get to everyday, and make a way to lock it. good place for ammo, ammo launchers, extra supplies, small toys of all sorts, the big 50lbs pound of dog food, extra clothes etc. so much room in there can put anything in that closet and lock it up safely (if it locked, which it would if i owned this)..... only problem being some of those things are quite heavy lol.... not sure you can put 1400 lbs in the rear right corner lol.... if you were to fill those shelves with freedom fries, you would probably have that entire corner just break off lol.... very cool trailer.... like it as it sits, no dislikes i can think of for the price and size, has all i would want. except i have to buy a pole for tv closet, and a lock mechanism... not hard diy things in the least... one thing about road mode.... what if.. the dining room table could turn sideways like many others of that shape can.. more like a lagoon table, or if free standing, just turn sideways. now you can scoot between it and kitchen counter.... hook it to the wall that way for transport if need be... a 2 dollar bungee cord could do that job.
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. You know you can take a day off once in a while right? 😉 I like this floorplan. We would definitely go for a dinette for the grandkids sleeping area and once they are too big for it they can move to a tent outside. I am not surprised you were disappointed with the bathroom fan. While it is much better that the non-shrouded small fart fans it is really only big enough to exhaust the bathroom. It really needs to be the larger sizer to work as a whole RV exhaust fan. I've liked the walk-in pantry since you previewed one earlier this year when talking with a Jayco rep. In the bedroom we would go with the queen. I still don't like the cubbies in the night stands. I would like to see drawers as opposed to holes. I think they need to add over bed cabinets as well. With this being looked at as a reasonable unit for full timing there needs to be more clothing storage than the two drawers under the wardrobe/laundry cabinet. With a long trip for us being 3 weeks or so we would stick with the wardrobe but we would need more easy to access folded clothing space. Adding a small wardrobe to a slide would be nice but with under 2K for cargo I think it would be a big hit to the available cargo capacity. We would likely go with the dual fuel fridge since we like to visit state parks and forest service campgrounds that do not have hookups. We would do the minimal solar to maintain the battery as I see no reason at this point to add more since I need to take a generator either way. My opinion will change in the future as solar and 12V compressor refrigerators get more efficient but it is not that hard to swap to a compressor fridge and beef up the solar down the road when this occurs. It is good to know about the larger tires. There are some unicorn F-150's with heavy duty payload and max towing packages that could handle the fully loaded 2K lb pin weight. Properly ordered I've seen some with 2800 to a little over 3000 lb payload capacities. I'm still not sure I would want to tow this with one. A travel trailer I'd be ok with but the extra height of a 5th wheel and the larger sail it presents I think needs the heavier weight of 250 or 2500 class truck. One question do these come with a preinstalled shock absorbing equalizers?
What is this day off thing? And as it turns out there is no factory shock absorber feature or option. BUT.. I think they might be prepped for them. At one point they were…
@@JoshtheRVNerd I was talking about the Morryde CRE3000/SRE4000 or Road Armor equalizers that have the rubber shock absorbing bumpers in them. Some 5th wheel manufacturers are including these from the factory and I am curious if this model had them or the standard rigid equalizer. My wife has brought up that maybe we should get a larger truck (I blame you and your adult entertainment RV videos for this 😁). We still want to stay under 30 ft but that opens up small 5th wheels like this one.
Like the floor plan, I would opt for theater seat, booth dinette, 12v fridge, and in the bedroom I would leave it the way it is. Question, I think Jayco is starting to switch to Azdel on there trailers and was wondering if the Eagle ht fifth wheels are now Azdel or not. Also like the solar option and dry camping options.
Hey Josh. First of all, Happy Thanksgiving yah big goofball. Quick question. We are looking at a 2018 cougar bunkhouse 31sqbwe with minimal use but am worried about the construction quality. Are they stapled cabinets or screwed and glued. What should I be looking out for when I go to look at it?
@@JoshtheRVNerd If you had your pick of either a 2018 Cougar 31sqbwe or a 2018 Jayco White Hawk 31bh in barely used condition for either at the same price, which would you take?
As it is,a the hitch weight puts in reach of some max towing half tons…….adding a bedroom slide would add considerably to the hitch weight tipping over to 3/4 ton truck range…..and if I had a 3/4 ton, there are roomier trailers available…….slippery slope, there! Nice layout, though……..
Hey Josh, I’ve already watched this a couple times and really like it. I am a Jayco owner myself! I am currently falling in love with the Brinkley models and was wondering if they will be coming out with a HT model as well?
Logically if you’re out of 12V power you’re not going to have lights or water so you’re not going to be doing much with a gas fridge if you’re camping with no 12V. For all intensive purposes you should never run out of 12V power so a 12V fridge just makes sense plus they are way better at cooling and you don’t have the other issues that come along with propane cooling.
The corner pantry seems a "waste of space"? Is there a model that has more counter space in the Kitchen, and wall cabinets? Same storage space with then more Living space.
I bought a 24er and the problem was the cladding was missing screws and front door dod not lock on furst time on long trip the pantry fell apart 2 shelf and one Draw underneath the stove came a part and the shelf over the fridge fell apart too the out side slam latch stop work also so in short don't by one
I really like this layout, but I would love a bigger oven, and a full wall closet - and of course, no carpeting in the bedroom. It's very similar to the Dutchmen Astoria 1500, but the Dutchmen has the slightly bigger oven, and the full closet, but I don't think it has the option for a 12V fridge. I love both, but the Dutchmen slightly edges out the Jayco because of the full wall closet.
Those carpeted ledges around the bedroom--what are they for? Are they using them to run electrical cabling? They really don't have a purpose and always seem to get in the way or stub your toe. Would be nice if they just got rid of them.
@JoshtheRVNerd What type of Pin Box is this equipped with and can it be replaced with a Reese Goosebox? My wife and I love this layout, but I don't want a 5th wheel hitch in the bed. Nice job as always!!
Factory doesn’t offer swaptions. it’s a pivoting variety. I’m not sure if they can be outfitted with a GN setup unfortunately. Apologies - I don’t want to guess wrong and send you down a rabbit hole
@@JoshtheRVNerd ahh; so its a pivoting pin box from factory; I believe I've read somewhere you can't swap out a pivoting Pinbox for the GN because of how the pivot is connected to the frame; thats to bad; thank you!!! And Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and your family!!
