This Entegra launch is rugged and modern at the same time. I love it over the Revel. This was a great walk through. Thanks for showing it lived in, also.
Congrats and hope the delivery goes well. Would recommend a thorough checklist. If you don't have one, here's mine: docs.google.com/document/d/1q5iyTFDDnpGvR50_VZ00cnAApB_MPvHD3fOPysv-trQ/edit? I keep watching videos on the Jayco Terrain and the Entegra Launch but nobody has turned on the coach/house stereo system. I’ve been wanting to see if that sound system sounds decent or if it’s just a waste. I don’t know if you could do a short video showing that feature and giving your thoughts but it’d likely be the ONLY video on RU-vid showing or talking about the system. Please, if you have time could you do a video on that sometime soon in the future? Great video, your Terrain is awesome! Thanks!
Great vid. LOVE this van. Two things that would make this perfect. 1) put in an aftermarket comfy folding bench seat in the back facing the window. That gives a usable lounge area if you’d like when the bed is up. Can just swing it up to the side when you want to use the garage. 2) a TV that folds up to the roof up front. How much was your van out the door if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks! Agree on a seating solution for the garage area. Working on that now. Most likely will use 8020 aluminum. In terms of price, you should be able to negotiate down 20-30% off MSRP.
Very informative. We'll done. Thanks for your efforts. Watched a very large number of sprinter reviews and think you did a great job. Really like this version of the original. (The Revel) This unit is a more refined version for sure.
How is the overall build quality of living area, cabinets, shower and galley?? Have you encountered any issues that have caused you to have the dealership to repair or troubleshoot?
Hey Rob, Hope all is well with you guys. Wanting to know how your experience with the Jayco Terrain has been in terms of issues with any leaks (roof, shower, other), electrical system function and or failure, water pump and Air conditioning function issues or failure? Is the build construction holding up so far? (Cabinets, floor, ceiling, panels, vents, shades, windows, etc) Looking to purchase in the near future. Wanting to know what to look for prepurchase and expect during ownership. Possibly a good topic for a follow-up video? Thanks.
Hey Kim! My Terrain was built Nov 21. I had a small leak issue with the flares (easy fix with sealant) and had a leak in the heat exchanger (fixed with teflon). Everything else works great. I just took it on a trip in 110 degree weather and had zero issues. A/C ran for all night for two nights. Will be making a follow up video soon!
@@codytuma Yes you can. Depends on humidity and temperature and shade and day/night, but I can get 1-3 days of AC use generally. Then can easily recharge with alternator driving or shoreline.
Great review! I bought the Blue/Grey Launch in Febuary, but it looks like its gonna be an 8 month wait to receive it due to my color choice. I'm so glad I didn't go with the Revel (Winnebago buys the strip down chasis where as Jayco buys the fully loaded chasis to build on). Do you or any other owners reading the comment section know how long the A/C will run on battery power?
I like to know too! 4 to 6 hours minimum, I would hope! 8 to 10 hours on lowest fan setting would be terrific in getting a good overnight's sleep from the air-conditioning system.👍
A/C at full blast (fan and compressor on) uses about 15% of the battery per hour. I haven’t had to use the a/c for an extended period of time so unable to say what a realistic usage is since the a/c cycles. Happy to report back.
I’m looking into this model too. It’s either storyteller or Revel but I think the jayco is the best option. Can you do a quick Video on your 1-year review? How do you like it? Would you buy again. How long does the AC run without connections or having the engine running? Also, looks like the price is a lot lower now. I’m seeing new units going to 150k!!
All three vans have their pros and cons, and I had a similar short list as you. Generally, folks say the build quality of Storyteller is #1. Revel is the standard setter with a huge owner, vendor, and dealer network. I went with the Terrain because of the huge battery, enclosed bathroom, and passenger seats. No regrets on it and would buy again. It does have a few build issues that I fixed, but I think you'll get issues with any van. For the AC, it depends on your ambient temp/humidity as well as personal temperature preferences. If it's summer with a high of 100 and low of 80, I can run it 10 hours at night and be at about 50% battery. During the day, a good 6-8 hours, dependent on variables. When the AC is on high with fan and compressor running, it uses about 20-30 amps per hour, so theoretically, you can get 10 hours before depleting the battery, but real life is less than that. Either way, the performance is longer than the Revel.
@@robvanguy thanks for the response. I agree with you. The enclosed wet bath is better but it really comes down to preference. I’m surprise the revel is more popular than the jayco. Thanks for your explanation on the battery. The AC is really for my dog when I park somewhere for hours just in case.
Great question. Prices have finally dropped or stabilized. Combo of factors -- higher interest rates (which make financing the purchase of a van more expensive to buy), higher inventory (smoothing of supply chains), and lastly, post-pandemic budget reshuffling (away from camping and towards other options). Based on new 2023 Terrains being sold and the price I paid though, there is only a 5-10% difference. This just means that dealers are more willing to cut prices during negotiations. I really had to fight for my price!
Great video, thank you! I just picked one of these up last week. Quick question... Did you add magnets to the bathroom door, or is that how it came from the dealership? Mine rattles like crazy
The doors come with magnets to hold it to the frame. There is also a security knob to really secure the door in place too. Seems like you may be missing one or both!
Great video. I just got a Launch, which is the same vehicle. The tech who did my walkthrough didn't know anything. Do you know when you are supposed to turn off the inverter? do you turn it off when you plug into the main shoreline power? Also I turned everything off but the refrigerator, yet my RV didn't really charge in the day, and it was sunny. Do you know why that may be? The batteries charge when I drive
Thanks! It's a new model so many of the techs are not so familiar with the specifics yet. You'll want to turn on the inverter when: - Charging via shoreline - Using electric heat or hot water via Timberline - Using 110AC standard outlet plugs PV (solar) charge isn't enough to fully offset your 12V fridge consumption. 200W of solar isn't alot. I reco turning off your inverter if you don't use it to decrease battery consumption.
@@robvanguy Thank you very much. Sorry I am a little confused. Turning on the inverter itself will consume the battery? I can leave the inverter on when plugging in to the shoreline? If I turn off the inverter will the refrigerator still work? When should I turn the inverter off?
No worries! This was all confusing to me when I first got the van too. The inverter consumes about 50 watts when turned on with no load, so you’ll want to leave it off unless you are charging via shoreline or using the standard 110V house outlets. You will also need it on if you are using electric heat (which basically does nothing).
Hi Rob, a few questions, what kind of mileage do you get? Are there wind noises from the crossbars up top? So the solar panels do not charge the house lithium battery? And what is the cargo carrying capacity / payload? I assume they have a factory label somewhere to tell you that. If not, what is the curb weight? Thanks
Great video. Thanks. How would you compare this with Revel? In terms of design, options, Quality, price, reliability? I like Revel but this also looks awesome.
I chose the Terrain above the Revel because of the real rear passenger seats (sits two vs one) and they are adjustable. The other reason is the beefy battery (3x the capacity of a Revel), so it can run the A/C for days, for example vs the Revel's 3 hour A/C limit.
@@robvanguy thanks. Good point. I like the jayco design. I think price also better than revel. But need time to tell the reliability. Wish I can get one soon.
The doors have to be opened to fill the tank so you can’t have it connected at all times, similar to the Winnebago Revel and Solis that utilizes the same water system.
Hoping to make a follow up video! Generally, I love the layout and battery. Dislike -- some build quality issues but nothing major and just common RV issues.
Lithium Iron Phosphate -- it's similar to this one but bigger capacity: www.renogy.com/48v-50ah-smart-lithium-iron-phosphate-battery/ Drive experience -- drives like a van haha. Sprinters are generally heavy on the throttle. Some folks have mitigated this with a pedal controller, but I haven't found the need for it. I drive like a turtle anyways! Steering is responsive and better than expected -- the 360 camera etc are very helpful here.
I have a 2023 Entegra launch the lithium battery shut down and won’t come back on. I did the start up procedure. The lock button by the battery and the momentary switch in the cabinet, held it for 10 to 15 seconds multiple times and absolutely nothing happened. Any ideas thank you and
What was your battery voltage before you turned off the battery? After you press the reset button, did you press the lock button again to turn the battery on?
Thanks for detailed review. It's very helpful. May I ask if the fixtures make rattling noise when you drive? I tested drive Thor synergy and Zion srt , but they all make a lot notice while driving which bothers me.
Now that it’s been about a year, are you still happy with getting the Terrain? What is the base that the passenger seats bolt to made of? Does it have a steel frame?
Nice vid. I'm shopping for a similar campervan. Did the lack of a microwave present issues? Are you able to bring along a small pluggable microwave unit? I have a 11 month old kid so need to warm up foods, etc.
Hi Ted -- I have a toddler so giving you a parent's POV. Yes, you can bring a microwave since there are lots of places in the Terrain with standard house plugs. I would store it in the garage area or in the foot well of the rear passenger seats. You can also plug in bottle heaters easily. The induction cook top that comes standard does heat things up pretty fast too. All these things can be powered by the house battery easily. Your kiddo will probably going to solid foods soon so those items may become less of a concern in the next year for you.
I have a Whirpool WMC20005YB in my current Promaster campervan right now. I will be buying the same unit for my Launch/Terrain when it comes in. Look into it, it's the perfect size microwave for these vans.
Congrats! I also bought a Entegra Launch a week ago ( same car ) , have you noticed that the led step light for the driver stays on always? Looks like its hooked up to the chassis battery, I was only able to turn it off by disconnecting the battery. You might want to check it too , I didnt notice that it just stays on till the first night.
I had the same issue! It is caused by the magnetic switch being stuck. Try putting a strong magnet on the switch - the rectangular thing on the frame where the door closes.
I was on the phone with my dealer and a tech from Jayco, neither of them knew about this problem and they are looking into it. I requested to join your facebook group, once I see the picture, Ill fix it and let Jayco tech know! Hopefully they will fix it for future models
@@JP-ui9tw Mine recurs from time to time so I carry a magnet in the Terrain. Not sure if it's a switch or magnet issue. I plan on fiddling around soon.
Does your rear seat belt have self locking mode? We are installing the car seat exactly like yours but the seat belt doesn’t ratchet lock. How do you secure your car seat?
Pinged you via the FB group. You will need to get a locking clip for the child seat since there is not a ratchet lock for the belt. Here is more info: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rspvGUUYo2o.html
It's built pretty solid with minimal rattles. The panel on the side door rattles a bit and could use some sound deadening. On big bumps I get some rattling from the bed. Overall, not too bad.
@John Seitz: care to share the price, dealership and location with us? Also, the model style and options would be terrific @ I'm wanting A LOT of Lithium reserve to!👍
How big a water tank? Do you have a gray tank? How big? You have one(1) 110 amp battery? To run everything? Fairly good review but it seems you glossed over many important items.
I have some loose screws in the van door paneling so that rattles and some wiring in the bed rattles too. Both are easy fixes and do not bother me too much now.
House battery. Hmmm. How many are there? I have a 12 volt ac which is hooked up to five 100 amp lithium batteries (directly) I’m guessing you can’t run that ac longer than an hour on one battery 210 amp battery, be it gel or lithium. Not enough amps. Try running ac during the day and see how long it lasts. I’m curious!
I don't know why they bother with a built in cassette toilet in such a tight space. A portable toilet would be better. The porta potti has the same tank capacity as this one and gets emptied the same way with the benefit of being able to remove it to have more room when you shower.
The cassette system has a benefit of being able to remove the waste cassette from the exterior of the van instead of interior - also water and electric are integrated. Comes with the cost of taking up a bunch of space in the wet bath though. But I use the toilet more than showering so it has been ok for me.
@@robvanguy I personally don't consider those benefits. The porta potti is an enclosed unit. Whether you take it out from inside or outside it doesn't affect anything. You fill the water tank of the porta potti right after dumping it, after that it's used just like the cassette. The porta potti does not require electricity but if it did you'd plug it from inside the van. And you'd be able to use your shower. But that's just me.
That’s msrp. The rv industry is not like the auto industry. 30% discounts or better are common on motorhomes. Big high end class A’s can be 40% off. These Terrains can be had for about 150k. Still a lot but not 201k.
