I have always thought it a blessing that the children were asleep and unhurt when Jayne's fatal accident occurred. Mickey Hargitay's wife apparently stepped right in as mom to them, and they raised them in a loving and stable home. I think Jayne was almost childlike herself, and would've been glad they were well taken care of. Jayne's grandchildren are a beautiful tableaux of ethnicities, both adopted and biological. I wish she'd have been able to know them, but am thankful that Mickey Hargitay lived long enough to know those grandchildren. ❤

I think people just see what they see on screen and think that small moment is all there is to know about a person but Jayne Mansfield's actions throughout her life were very questionable and done without a lot of solid judgement. But she was brilliant, and she did have a lot of talent. But that's not an excuse for cheating, and allowing one of her boyfriends (or was it one of her husbands?) to abuse her eldest daughter to the point custody was taken away. That said, I've also heard mixed things from various sources that makes it sound like when she was sober she was a good mom, but when she was drinking, she'd really derail her life and family (basically like an alcoholic, but that might just be me oversimplifying the reality since Im not sure anyone ever classified her as an alcoholic, iirc. Although that term might not have really been a thing yet back then either. I dk.)

I wonder what the boys grew up doing. I liked Jayne and always felt bad for her. She wanted to be a serious actor not as a blonde bimbo. Mariska wasn't much older when the accident happened. So glad the kids were not killed.

She spoke 7 languages, played violin, etc.

She may have said she hated the sex symbol tag but she continued to use it to get work. Unlike Marilyn Monroe who had dramatic parts and tried desperately to get those roles or starting her own production company Jayne became a cartoonish character and then went to Italy when parts in the USA dried up. I always thought she was beautiful and a great comedienne but knew she was limited. She chose to sing these 2 songs that were made famous by her number one rival.

Maybe and I'm just spit balling here, a cop show which shows that in the criminal justice system sexually based crimes are especially heinous and in New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate the vicious felonies and are members of an elite squad.

And 33 years later, she did.

@@stephaniewood1547 You're spot on with that. It's just terrible that her beloved mother died in such a horrific way---growing up without one is extremely difficult, but Mariska's one tough cookie, just like her character on L&O:SVU.

Yeah she was decapitated by running in back of a semi trailer and that's why they have a big bar on the back today.

@@blackisback74thats actually not true. The rumor/misinformation was due to a photograph of her wig at the tragic scene of the accident. The wig was thrown from the vehicle, not her head.

Yes it was. I remember my pregnant relatives blowing smoke everywhere. The men would let us have a sip of their beer, and the ladies drank cocktails. Luckily, we were all born without any problems.

The other post said it was 7 languages. How about 9? What about 12? Ridiculous that people want to try to make her seem so intelligent citing " facts" they heard. Jayne put game above almost everything. She may have had a high IQ but she lacked common sense. If she did she wouldn't have left hargitay and married Cimber whose son ( on her lap whose name she never mentions) wants nothing to do with his siblings.

@@Mister_Listener You can find pictures of her during this time period, in swim suits. She worked on and retained her stunning figure. Mariska's father Mickey was a body builder and a health buff. Both he and Jayne worked out, way before it was popular for women to do so. She obviously kept up with that after their divorce.

She had to.. It was her ticket to fame/ $. She was a sex symbol. If she didn't she would have been out of a job.

When he said something about "feeding him in front of us", I thought he was talking about the dog because that was right around the time she was giving the dog a drink of water out of the glass. I thought it was a joke because she was giving the dog water, so he was suggesting that she feed the dog too.

Sadly it’s a fact that she died in a horrible way only one year after this interview so for someone to say “god blessed them” is not in my opinion an accurate way to describe the situation and I highly doubt Mariska and her brothers would see that they were blessed But you (and others) may see it differently.
