@@GodLovesComics yes that is how narratives work… events change the narrative. You know like how a story works. People get proven wrong. Do you have to always be right all the time? I’m sure you’ve never picked a series wrong
Bro picks are picks, we get them right sometimes, we get them wrong sometimes. But don't be acting like making the right picks determines a person's knowledge base - picks and predictions at the end are just fun and filled with bias at end of day. Last time I checked, the casual Celtics fans (some of the most delusional when it comes to actual analytical basketball scheming conversations), always have said the same thing over and over again every year - this is the Celtics year, JB and JT are the best duo in the league. Was it wrong to say "Have them prove it" since we had never really seen them perform as the best duo before, let alone have Celts winning the championship? Since the JT and JB era started in 2018, they came close always, but never got the deal done until yesterday. But the same prideful takes Celtics fans had this year were the exact same thing being said over the last 6 years. This is my problem, a fan is usually talking hella lot when their picks are right. But only people with great knowledgebase will know when to jump ship and see the flaws ahead of time, and feel free to criticize their own.

In all seriousness though Celtics front office did what they had to do, hit on their draft picks with Tatum & Brown and put them in position to win and wasn't afraid to trade anybody for the sake of a championship.
You got that last part right on the nail. As a Celtics fan I was beyond PISSED when we traded smart (and still miss him) he was a fan favorite and a guy who wanted to be here his whole career I mean the guy dyed his hair green. It was tough not seeing him there last night but it’s worth it
This is a great case of a team with high expectations getting it done and delivering. The Celtics front office did an insane job, having 2 max players and still managing to have a deep talented roster. Tatum and Brown have been nothing but professionals and made their mark as an all-time duo

Tatum and Brown got caught up in hero ball a few times (dribbling the clock down, taking a static 3) and thankfully Jrue made the ball move by cutting, and distributing.Thankful for Jrue and Derrick White. They were so key to this team's success.
because they were up 20 with 10 minutes left. Mavs can't score even with a small team. so yes, i think it was coach's decision / the correct decision to slow the game down and dribble out the shot clock for every possession possible.
Dru and D.White proves why successful teams can’t get that success with 3 or 4 teammates standing around watching the star player or players. And star players eventually learn that they can’t do it all by themselves, you have to get everyone involved…

The media is the reason JT didn't win the FMVP, this finals was all about a mixed match, and the Celtics wouldn't have won if JT had not played the 5 to take the Dallas game away. We watched the game JT shot badly just like Luka but that was the main reason they did. Let that sink in he led his team in PPG, assist, and rebound. He draws more double-team. This narrative about the media needs to stop.
It's stupid how everyone is forgetting the fact that Tatum was the one being blitzed and doubled from the tip of the Finals and the whole playoffs. Kidd was saying that Brown is the Celtics' best player but was sending doubles and blitzing Tatum. Not sure Brown would have played this well if he was truly treated like the Celtics best player. Think Tatum deserved the MVP more overall.

Not to diminish Jalen Brown’s performance - also deserving of Finals MVP for several of Boston’s best individual moments of the Finals. But Tatum deserved MVP, and I am unhappy he didn’t win it. He anchored our team. He won us game 3. He was the best player on the court for either team in game 5. He averaged a triple double in Boston and was our leading scorer both games in Dallas.
@@yinkz15 Jalen had more high profile moments defensively, but he wasn’t better on defense. Jayson anchored the team defensively by forcing Dallas out of its lob game. This is what allowed Jalen’s defensive pressure to make a difference and lead to key turnovers. As for efficiency, yes Jalen was more efficient in the first 2 games especially. Jayson had a hand in that, too. But Brown was a no-show offensively for half of game 3. Had not Jayson carried the load to keep it close in the first half, we get blown out in game 3. In the dismal game 4, Tatum scored half our points in the first half. Nobody else did a thing. And Jayson was the best player on the court in game 5. Basically, the voters decided that Brown was MVP after game 2.
Co-MVPs would’ve been perfect because they basically split responsibilities. Jason Tatum took control the offense, taking the double teams and facilitating to his team, while Jalen Brown took control of the defense, guarding Luka Dončić the whole time.
Here's the criticism for Tatum. Win a chip without having the best supporting cast ever, from the entire starting 5, to your 7th best player in Hauser/Pritchard. Win finals MVP, outperform Brown, show that you are the best player on your own team. Period. Steph did it in 2022. Now it's his turn.

it's so odd how people forget what a wet blanket marcus smart was on those series that Tatum and Brown get accused of blowing. smart is the most anemic offensive player perhaps in league history and his defense is overrated. He never should've started and we're seeing now that on any other team in the league he's, at best, a 3rd string pg. He'd play hero ball way too often, finishing with 12-17 fga, he'd try to dribble and pass way too fancy for his skill level, he couldn't run an offense, and he'd insert himself into pivotal moments in games that should've belonged to Tatum and Brown. Do people really not remember this or did they just not watch those games?
Should have been Tatum. He also had impact on both ends of the floor, including facilitating way more, and had overall more impact than JB. Some media are acting as if it was only JB that had impact on both ends. Jrue benefitted from Tatum being on the floor, actually the whole team did when they were on the floor with him.
Could have went either way. I'm not upset JB won. He was great on both sides of the ball. I would have went with JT though. He had just as much impact if not more. The games he didn't score as much, he was a great facilitator and had a lot of assists. I would have liked to see co-MVPs. Because they compliment each other very well. That's why JB gave a shout-out to JT during the acceptance speech. He knew it could have gone either way. And I think JT would have shouted out JB if he had won.
4:37 i know JB was the primary defender, but Luka called for a screen every time. He did have impact, but Jrue was there, White was there, Al Horford was there too.
Exactly. Why do they have to mention JT every time they mention JB? Cmon now. Let that man shine on his own. If JT would have gotten it, he probably wouldn’t even be giving JB his props…
Think it's because they are not far off statistics wise? Team Game? They are a true, 2 leader-led team? Not a bad thing when you talk Brown, you talk Tatum and Vice-Versa.
I'll put it this way.. if Brown was the number 1 option on that team, dealing with double teams constantly, Celtics lose. Browns passing vision is awful compared to Tatums.
It’s also fair to mention the great basketball savant, Magic Johnson passed on Tatum because of Alonzo Ball was a local talent coming from UCLA. Tell the whole entire story SAS! Magic Johnson was the GM of the Lakers at that time.
Nobody cares bro, the good euros still come to this league to get the top dollar deals, sponsorships, and visibility globally. Nobody cares about what back water league anyone else is playing in until FIBA. Kids in Asia are more worried about the NBA than their own local leagues.

You got it backwards. If Brown was the real number 1 guy, he would have gotten double teamed instead of Tatum. If Brown was the real number 1 guy, Celtics definitely don't win a championship.
Nope, the media that voted for Brown don't understand how to vote for MVP. They don't understand what an MVP is. Brown benefitted from Tatum being on the floor and not being the main focus of opposing teams' defense.
Just gotta congratulate them and stop bringing up the past let them enjoy this moment they really deserved this one man they been talked about for so many years and they stayed together and made it work now they raised the banner salute to them boys man they really beat the odds 🫡

Our finals mvp is actually Tatum. Brown benefitted from the double teams Tatum had to deal with, and he acknowledged that himself post-game. If Brown was the number 1 guy, Celtics don't win.
@@orgen666 Type English. Using idiotic slang terms doesn't make you look cool. If Tatum took the finals off, none of his playmaking would be in effect, and they would lose. Brown isn't a number 1 guy, as we saw game 7 last year.

I love how Shaq told Jaylen Brown to not let the critiques come between him and Jayson Tatum, because they could easily win another championship or two with the roster they have.
