i don't get why media keeps saying only LeBron and the Lakers or the cowboys get ratings which is why they only have topics surrounding them when fans complain about how repetitive they are when these types of podcasts thrive so well without hardly ever mentioning those topics. Fewest turnovers as a guard isn’t as great of a stat as you’re thinking it is. Every championship team has had a playmaker running the offense and there’s ball movement, when there’s no ball movement you’re not getting past that championship game.

First off, I don't think he really likes talking to them for very obvious reasons like other players around the league. The media will take whatever you say and twist it into this ridiculous narrative to start drama. Thats a reach. The Raps were playoff ready with that starting lineup and a top 5 defense. Had smart players, playmakers with playoff Lowry, Kawhi and Siakam along with VanVleet's hot shooting picking up at the right time. Gasol may have been slow but dude was also key in playoff matchups vs Embiid and Lopez. Nick Nurse is also a very talented coach who knows how to adapt and fight small ball lineups. They were the real perfect storm in the EC.

The idea that it’s “everyone’s fault” just isn’t accurate when egos are involved bc it was and is obvious that Kyrie is was and always has been the biggest ego on every single team in his pro career. That’s why, even at nearly 30, he’s not a leader, nor will he ever be. Tatum admitting why it didn’t work shows a level of maturity that he has NOW-at AGE 24-which let’s you know he’s going to be a far better person and leader than Irving. I won’t be surprised if Boston wins the East tbh.

He got so egotistical after the 2018 run that he demanded to start over Kyrie before the regular season even began. He was also garbage during the season. Hayward really got affected by the broken leg injury, i think had he not gotten injured, celtics would've had a great chance at winning the 2018 championship if we also count that JB and JT progress similarly during the season. In 2019 like JT said in the podcast, the young guys wanted too big roles, in 2018 it would've been just right for everyone.

Part of being that guy is being a leader, especially at the point guard position. Kyrie went to that locker room and tried to prove he was the best 1v1 player instead of showing those guys a winning culture. It’s no wonder they were worse with him there.

Brad Stevens was supposed to define the roles, he never did. It took a new coach to get Jaylon and Jayson to understand playing as a team instead of solo. Kyrie’s first year he was playing like a legit PG and everything went smooth until he got hurt. Rozier, Smart, and Brown wanted the shine of Kyrie and Hayward. Hayward should’ve been traded after his injury tho, he clogged up the forward spot on the roster and he wasn’t better than the young guys wanting minutes. Brad Stevens was the problem.

The Celtics could barely win a road playoff game without Kyrie. 2019 east got way better. Sixers added butler and Tobias and Embiid and Simmons got experience. Raptors added kawhi green and gasol. Also added nurse and siakam was most improved plus other guy like OG and Powell were on the rise. Bucks improved. They added Lopez and mitotic and hired new coach Mike budenholzer. They went from a 44 win team to a 60 win team. The Celtics didn't face the bucks in 2020 playoffs. In the 2020 playoffs they beat Embiid and philly who didn't have Simmons or much other help. Kemba also played great that series. Than they barely got past the 2nd Rd in 7 vs a raptors team that no longer had kawhi and green. Also the Celtics were extremely young in 2018 so it's natural for Tatum and brown to get better each year with experience. Also in 2020 when Celtics were on that playoff run, Tatum was on the phone with Kyrie getting advice on leadership and so forth.

It was a combination of a lot of things Kyrie deserves a large part of the blame with the way he addressed the media and handled it but it went deeper beyond that when the young guys didn’t want to take a back seat

When Kyrie played with Bron and was like that Bron kept him under control, made sure he knew his role, and helped him succeed. That’s what great leaders do. Kyrie is a great player, but NOT great leader, and that was the issue. Also Brad Stevens is just as much if not more to blame here imo as Kyrie. He should’ve controlled his locker room and clearly didn’t, it’s on the coach just as much as on the veteran players to make sure everybody gels and Brad fucked up. They had the young talent but the coaching staff and vets failed to guide those young guns to greatness. Kyrie came to Boston to be the dude, but he wasn’t, and that’s why people blame him. He wanted to be Lebron but didn’t have the leadership to be Lebron, so he left the team to play second fiddle to KD

If everyone is healthy. I think the Celtics are the best team in the NBA. I hope injuries don’t derail them. They need Smart, and Tatum.

What a run they’ve had so far though. One of the toughest roads to the finals I’ve ever seen a team have and they are the 2 seed!
