Yeah, Epic also stealth removed all the old Unreal and Unreal Tournament games from both Steam and GOG recently too. A major loss for game preservation.
It's always funny seeing a game company go from cartoon platformers to gritty shooter games. I like that Epic at least kind of remembers Jazz exists to some level, I remember seeing posters of him in some houses in earlier versions of the fortnite map but I don't know if they still do that. Great video man. Love the new model too!
Surprised Medievo music wasn't mentioned. That track was just as awesome as Tubelectric was. :) Awesome review. Had me howling about the bouncing level. XD
Man Jazz 2 is a personal favorite. Having gone back to play the first game it makes me happy to know it holds up. Interesting thing remember my dad having that gamepad, it also had a stick you could screw into the dpad to turn it into a joystick really weird when I think about it.
I think it looks great. Whoever did the 3d did a good job on it. The only downside is that 2d often beats 3d for facial expressions, which is why I think a lot of people prefer the old look. IMO I think a rotation of the two would keep things fresh.
100 percent agree with you on video game music. I play something like Mega Turrican or Midnight Resistance both for Sega Genesis and I'm like "Now THIS is video game music!"
" Surprised they got away with this" Wait til you see the original trailer for Ty The Tasmanian Tiger where he left Sonic, Crash, and spyro at a hospital after beating them up.
Shame Epic Games basically doesn't care about anything else lately that isn't Fortnite or Unreal Engine tech related. Epic's delisted the Unreal games from all digital sale sites, and I'm surprised that Jazz hasn't suffered the same fate.
Oh yeah, there's an officially endorsed patch on GOG that fixes the terribly tight platforming section in Orbitus. I believe it lets you collect all items as well. It's probably under betas. In the floppy version of JJ1, Orbitus wasn't like this, either. The CD version (which is what GOG sells too) introduced that from extending a few levels.
Damn cool to see your 3D avatar like that, did you do the poses yourself? I think I've told a few friends that when it comes to mascot characters, Jazz is one I always forget but is also happy to remember. They really need to do something with him, I swear. Hope you had fun making this video, buddy-bud. 🐰 9:10 all the way And did not expect a "Blink yand you'll miss it" O Brother, Where Art Thou reference!
A nice treat to come home to after a somewhat trying day of work (I swear the assholes and crazies are out in force today); never played the original, but the PCs at my old middle school had the demo of Jazz 2, which saw frequent use.
Great review as usual, and it's good to see you back to it, but damn if that 3D model isn't a plastic, dead eyed mess. There's just so much more character in your 2D self.
Listening to this review, I realized just how similar this game, from the pros to the cons, reminds me of a game that I was fortunate enough to play: Klonoa Door to Phantomile. From the mostly balanced level design and platforming (except for the final non-boss level which has a very similar problem to Episode 2 Stage 2 Level 2 here), the very mixed boss line up, the enjoyable soundtrack, the wonderful storytelling...oh yeah, and both games star anthro rabbits.
I owned the full-release copy of the original 1996 Jazz Jackrabbit release when I was an 8-year-old kid. I had to agree, even I couldn't have Sonic like others had I had jazz in my old 64-bit DOS PC, to play this particularly great game. If you want this game today, it's easily accessible in GOG, digital format.
2 of my tires have 0/32" tread left which I compensate for by having them at the front and having the other 2 at 1/32" on the rear. Deepest tread rearward is safest. Source: mechanic.
I grew up on a ton of shareware as a kid and Jazz Jackrabbit and Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure were my respective bread and butter. Glad to see your take on this classic.
When I was a kid (this was circa 1995-6ish) I was gifted a 486DX with a Gravis Ultrasound and it had Jazz Jackrabbit on it, the soundtrack has stuck with me to this day. What a fucking banging soundtrack.
I also had the Gravis gamepad (they were very easy to get in Canada) that controller was weird as fuck, had a little toggle on the bottom that switched the buttons and the d-pad orientation, really spongy buttons too. Still played through all of Jazz Jackrabbit, Tie-Fighter and like a dozen other games with it though.
Jazz was a little before my time, but I can recognize how good those games seem to be! Also…You’re covering one of those Bethesda Terminator Games from the Early 90’s next, aren’t you?
Hell yeah, now we're talking. While I never played the first Jazz Jackrabbit I was _very_ familiar with the sequel. I had a friend who'd burned a copy of the trial version for me and we both struggled to play together online. Using late 90s internet connections. Good times. 👌
Jaz Jackrabbit is one of my roomies favorite games. Got both of em on our pc rn. I never really played em, but they look neat. Also I love the 3D model! It's super cute and really expressive. Keep up the good work dude, don't let people knock ya down
Configure DOSBox to emulate Gravis Ultrasound. It sounds heavenly for Jazz Jackrabbit. I hear that you configured it for Sound Blaster, and it sounds good. But the Gravis Ultrasound quality is out of this world.
I remember finding out our XP PC couldn't plug classic PC controllers, cause the controller port didn't exist anymore, i'v heard the controller port was built into the sound card. Funfact, they patched the infamous level in a recent update a few year ago on GOG
An individual by the name of J.C. Thornton. Unfortunately he just stopped accepting commissions for O.C. designs and Stu was one of, if not the last order he fulfilled.
Mr Brandon! Good to see you! I’m glad you seemed to enjoy my video! Jazz means a lot to me and your music rocks so hard. I’m planning a review of Jazz 2 in the future so be on the lookout for that
jazz jackrabbit needs a new dev & publisher, though. epic has basically disowned both the jazz & unreal ip's. devolver would probably take good care of both of those ip's and we might even get a new jazz game out of the deal. a real jazz 3 instead of the unfinished beta.
Working Man Games: The Return of the King! In 3D! I do get free games from Epic. And I even pre-ordered Sonic Origins: Digital Deluxe Edition from Epic because it was a bit cheaper there.
I like Epic Games, especially when they give away good ones like every day. Jazz Jackrabbit came with a lot of the earlier Anbernic (RG300/RG350) handhelds, that's where I found it to play.
i get what you meant, but it was kind of funny to start out with "this is one of the best PC platformers, now here is everything wrong with it that makes it annoying to play."😆 is good video, me have missed the Stu video. hope you are feeling much better being back on the saddle.
I wonder if you going to continue the tiny toons game review because i wanna see you reviewing the cancelled ps2 game that was made by treasure since they also made the last tiny toons game on gba
So i am curious did anione of the ppl here trayed alpha demo version of Jazz Jackrabbit 3 that never got reliced? The game is not get reliced and ic done only 25% but it was good...isnt it?:)
