The 'turnaround' progression is ubiquitous with Jazz music. Whether you pass one every chorus, or you play one every two bars, learning how to walk the turnaround more creatively will make you a better bassist. Here are 10 strategies for playing over turnarounds (with music for each example) and 3 tips to maximize your lines in the 1-6-2-5 concept. Ahhh...Mr. P.C. His music will last forever. His inspiration is still felt long after his passing. The world is a much better place because of what he brought to it. He was definitely one of a kind. For this fledgling bass player back in the 70s, his influence was spell binding.

I don't "officially" play bass but I do have a phantasy of playing it, because it's just a perfect instrument, I love deeply Paul Chambers and Mingus, and Ray Brown, and so on

Great video Paul! My wife bought me an upright bass in 1998 for our 14th wedding anniversary. Nearly 25 years later, I still haven't scratched the surface in learning this beautiful instrument. I can walk fairly well, but your 10 types of turnarounds was an eye opener. I definitely know what I'm going to practice all month! Thanks again!
