This is actually staple of the very beginnings of jazz that can be traced back to new Orleans, Louisiana. It's beautiful representation and gives justice to the the likes of Louis Armstrong
The real question is where did the brass instruments come from and how did they develop so quickly? If I remember correctly, the only brass instruments we see in ATLA are little horns used for signaling, similar to traditional Asian instruments. All other wind instruments we see are flutes and reed instruments. There isn't another continent with European inspired culture, so how did we go from small hunting horns to a fully fleshed out family of brass instruments in 70 years?
The original happens in the 1850s in our world in the later half of the 19th century Europe Europeanized Asia especially china and Korra happens in the 1920s when Europe did there thing also china had a civil war at this time just like in season 4
Does anyone know the name of the little melody that plays in the introduction to the chapter? Where does the pro control narrator summarize the previous chapter?
As fun as it is to hear jazz in the Avatar universe, I wish the in-universe cultural changes that led to it were fleshed out more. For example serious missed opportunity to include instruments like wooden fishes, tom-toms and china symbols frequently added to real-life early trap kits
Hey, thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, I can't find a clean version of the song. So, I guess we only have a few released jazz songs. I will try to extract more music from The Legend of Korra using AI though, cuz thanks to you I now know there's more jazz than I thought.
