Power is not my concern, more of reliability for a B46 4 cylinder daily driver long term with occasional agressive driving. Which do you recommend for a 2018 230i B46 F23? (Downpipe + Intake + Aluminum Charge Pipe + Custom Axel Back Exhaust)
very informative and well explained, thanks for sharing. I have been using JB4 for the past 2 years but I didn't know that you can control linearity of the power , nor the boost vs timing .. do you refer to that as map 6 ? can you elaborate more on how to do that ? Many thanks
Either one can cater for your requirements and both are proven 👌to work exceptionally well. I would go for mhd just because of its ease to use and is consistently updated..I have not yet flashed a 330i as they scarce in South africa but f series platform is the same across the board
Nice technical video ! I’m running currently on MHD stage2 my question is if adding the jb4 with the back n flash .. how does it exactly make more power ? In other words why is this combination more effective ?
The combination is no more lethal than any other way, making more power would require the following assessment, wastegate duty cycle in relation to the boost as well as your average ignition, raising the boost with some high octane is the only way to give your current setup more power, unless you change hardware ie turbos Inlets would result in changes to your flash to make more power
great video super detailed and great explanation, You did answer my question I been asking for like couple of days. been so stress trying to choose the right one Is a lot of money we talking here and if picked the wrong one it wont be a very good time driving anymore lol. Thank you seriously
A have F25 35i n55 and g30 530i b46 whitch one will be best for me to tune both? If i buy bm3 a need 2 licences around 600$? If i buy next n55 or b46 can i use again without paying third and fourth licences? Mhd dont have this both Motors...
Unfortunately that's how these applications work, they vin locked and can only be used on one vehicle at a time unless you have a tuner license but that would be more costly than both the tunes added togeter
If I do a JB4 _ MHD Backend Flash then am I able to still switch maps on the JB4? Also, is it true that the MHD burbles will hurt the turbos? If so, does the car backfire after you get an exhaust and catless dp? for an N54. Thank you
I don't know which platform on the jb4 you are on ie e series f series however yes you will be able to switch maps Mhd burbles initially where known to cause issues as per user feedback however I don't know if anyone has ever proven a solid case. Those burbles are actually excess fuel dumped in the cylinder. From what I gathered in researching this, it was actually used or still in use at events like Lemans where they use the fuel to cool down the cylinder like when cornering. To answer your question yes it would cause a flame ie backfire 😂
Is the backend flash a specific flash made for running the jb4? I have the eurocharged tune on an s55, it's great but I would like to add the BMS meth injection. Would the MHD and bootmod3 allow me to remove the eurocharged tune loaded now?
Most tuners are capable of doing a bef for the jb4... It's actually alot easier as only certain parameters are changed.. However the bef by bms is always my go to as the support is great... To remove an existing file you would merely reload your original bin if not Mhd does have a repository of the latest bins
Nice, thanks for the reply. Great video, this was exactly what I've been trying to figure out. Would I be able to save the tune I have now using the MHD or bootmod3?
I don't think other plug and plays offer as much as the jb4... Antilag, port injection add on, monitoring all sensors not just map sensor... Race chip is like a jb1 or peddle booster does not have the processing speed as a jb4.. However let's not confuse plug and play with a standalone ecu
Because they are the most sophisticated and have the most experience no other plug and play box has the same kind of options they have , not even close.
Very good video... I tend to lean toward on the bootmod as I don’t want to mess w wires etc. sucks because I want anti lag to which like you said I think only comes on the jb4 bah! Mine application is n55 though.
Very broad question however it's all dependant what fuel you running plus your timming and boost.. A combination of those coupled together will give you your safety you require. Start with just a jb4 and stack it at a later stage.. F90 m5 make so much of torque and power my suggestion is how much of power the street or road can actually handle and leave it at that, don't over power the road doesn't make sense...
