I liked because you're the first guy i see in 3 hours of reading comments about this soundbar who warns people that the sound they'll hear is not 1=1 to reality, even tho it should be obvious, but i bet some people don't realise that
Just got this through a Prime Day deal and it should be delivered today. I know I'm way late to the party on this bar, but if seems like it'll fit our needs.
I chose this soundbar as its now quite inexpensive and feature-packed (especially Alexa MRM). Im so bad at and so scared of the setup and this soothed my already frazzled nerves. And Ive only taken it out of the box! LOL *THANK YOU*. Hope youre around in the coming days and still checking this older thread . I have a feeling Ill need you, buddy! :)
Mate, you covered basically everything there. Great knowledge. The only thing that you didn't really do is give your own opinion on how the overall sound was to your ears, considering that we wouldn't hear what you do. Also, how would this bar stack up against other similarly priced devices such as the Sonos, Yamaha Yas series, LG, Bose, etc... And what was the difference in sound between wall mounting and it laying flat on the TV unit? (guessing the bass wasn't as pronounced on the wall as the bass ports had nothing solid for it to bounce off of) Also, I didn't realise that this was available in a silver colour. I've only seen it in black. But other than that, this was great content and a nice in depth run down. Cheers pal 👍
Thanks buddy, glad you liked the detail. In terms of wall mounting, I'm not sure, but yes technically the bass will sound 'louder' if it's on a cabinet, due to the way the radiators would resonate. As for the sound quality assessment, as this is a paid overview, I don't comment on sound quality in the video; I don't feel it's right to give an opinion on a product I've been paid to 'promote'. It's a rule I've set for myself, where there's no such thing as a paid review - others do it, I flat-out don't lol. I will say that I was really impressed by the overall sound quality; ended up using it as my daily driver without feeling like I was missing too much from my daily driver (Samsung N850).
Optical input is perfect for me because I only have 3 HDMI inputs on my TV and they're all in use. But I use the HDMI in port on the soundbar which I connect to my 4K Blu-ray Player's HDMI audio port which means I can still get Dolby Atmos and DTS watching Blu-ray discs. I still get Dolby Digital through the optical cable for my set top box.
@@TotallydubbedHD I have an issue with the soundbar display saying incorrect password frequently after I disconnect the WiFi. Also when connected to WiFi it keeps disconnecting and saying Chromecast and Airplay ready when it reconnects. Surely it's not supposed to do that. I hope it's not a fault. Does yours do that?
Hi! This is a great video - thank you very much! 🙂 I have 2 questions, would appreciate help: 1) once this soundbar is set up, can i use my "normal" TV remote to adjust the volume while watching TV or a movie? Or do I always have to use the JBL remote? 2) There were lights (i.e. words) blinking in the speaker near the end of the video when you were switching the modes during the song and movie....is this always illuminated? Or does it only appear when you change a mode and then go away fairly quickly again?
Anyone knows what is ADB? I was pressing and holding the Atmos button from the remote then press volume down and there's ADB on/off? What feature is this?
I saw your rather unflattering review of Sony HT-G700 (which I almost bought!) and now I'm curious - how would you say they compare? They are both the same price in the UK now.
Hi, just wondering if you know how to turn Dolby Atmos on without the remote? Is there an app or is there a way to do it with the buttons on the sound bar itself?
Great review thank you. Quick question, do you know the type of HDMI cable that is included and if you think it is worth upgrading the HDMI cable? Thanks!
Once again, spot on, Chris! I was wondering if this soundbar would be OK for clarity with my TV... and for use with my macBook? Thanks for letting me know!
I'm having a problem with the bass adjustment. The TV and - button combinations don't work and I can't get the levels menu to show up no matter what. I'm unsure on what to do now.
It's hard over RU-vid and here it wasn't compared to real Atmos - indeed there is a difference between a soundbar that has full Atmos (and proper implementation, ie not a budget one) vs this one with virtual. Still, it's impressive for what price you're paying and its compact form factor!
Please help. My soundbar go to standby mode when watching tv. conected to my lg c1 tv via HDMI ARC. Watching footbal from sky box sound come from soundbar then after 10minutes soundbar go to standby mode and sound start come out from tv.
Doesn't sound right, I certainly didn't have that issue, maybe it's to do with the sky box or your TV processing/handling audio? Can you not plug in the soundbar directly into the TV rather than the sky box?
I have a problem on connecting this soundbar to wifi both chromecast and JBL app setup, only ethernet works. Do you have any suggestions or workaround?
I have 5.1 JBL sound bar. Sounds amazing. But one con... The god damn remote!!! It's very confusing to set up . No voice adjustment. No EQ adjustment. Very difficult to use that remote. Can you please make one video to show how to use or set up sounds for that remote. ???? Please
What does the MS setting stand for? I can’t find any information on it. It is adjustable and can go up to level 250? Press tv button for 5 seconds then press volume up
Hi I have an older soundbar (12 years old Yamaha Yas 101) that is connected to my tv via optical. Will there be a big difference with this soundbar instead...I have arc but no Earc connection on my tv.
On a standalone basis is the beam 2 worth nearly double the price? I'm tempted between the sheer value of this versus the beam 2. What I really want is to get the beam 2 and then 1 SLs as surround speakers, but I'm just not convinced it's worth the addition 500-600 quid, or even more once stands are added in. Edit: adding in the surround speakers is a plan for many months or even a year or two down the line.
Not tried the Beam 2, so can't comment - presume you mean Sonos, if so, it's a brand I've not been overly impressed with, especially given they only work with people 'they know' ie, can control the reviews that go live ;)
@@TotallydubbedHD great video. I've been trying to choose between the multi beam And sonos beam 2nd gen. Which would you say is better? And is Sonos considered a better brand?
I have this soundbar but when watching Blu Ray's the dialogue is too low while the sound effects are then too loud. Do you know of any way to edit the speaker settings to help this issue? TIA
Would the JBL Bar 5.1 be obviously better than this or no it just has the edge because of the Subwoofer. I'm very curious because I just bought the Bar 5.1 for $299 all in but haven't gotten to unbox it as of yet.
@@TotallydubbedHD Ok maybe somethig isint wright. I'VE got it hooked up & it sounds good enough & nice base but at Max Vol it's not very loud at all really. I have a polk signa S2 that's louder. Is their somethig I'm not aware of.
@mederosalexis1 I was able to convince the store to take back the JBL 5.1 & I bought the Polk max XR & way better experience & I'm also still impressed with the Polk signa S2 epically for the money I paid for it. The JBL Sucked compared to both of these sound bars. The Jbl had good base but that's where it stops cause the bar itself sounded like shit.
I bought one of these. I can cast sound to the bar from my phone. But I can't get the TV sound to come out of the bar. I have a LG TV. What should I do?
This soundbar sounds better with standard smart mode and without calibration with dolby atmos off, with smart mode on the EQ is awful! It would take a smartphone app for the general settings, jbl we are in 2022 come on !! 😤
Hi I have a Samsung F751 right now... I'm planning on getting either the 5.0 multibeam, Samsung S60a or the Bose smart soundbar 300... Which you recommend? Or don't change and stick to what I've got...
Wtf, you didn't said anything about the sound, what happened ? Your reviews are usually excellent and very detailed, specially when you talk about sound quality
This is an overview, not a review for that very reason. It's been paid by JBL, as mentioned and thus I don't give my opinion in performance when it comes to paid content :)
soundbars are so digusting, they cant even win from a 40 dollar pair of DM110i speakers from 40 years ago. and i dont mean by a small margin, i mean like a different world kind of difference.
