@@mr.hammerschlag970020 hours is a joke. I don't see nobody reaching that hour. It can play at least 8/6 hours with 50/70% of volume. In 100% it lasts 3/4 hours. 🥲
Just got mine today. I think it was a definite worthy upgrade from the 3 simply because it doesn't lose bass or any sound loss at maximum volume. I love this speaker.
I use the Charge 5 at work playing at moderate level and the battery has yet to run down playing eight continuous hours or more. I was going to purchase the Extreme but when I read it was only slightly louder decided against it. Besides that I don't like big bulky speakers. The Charge 5 is the sweet spot that checks all the boxes for value. The Charge 5 is a total 5 star speaker.
The xtreme 4 is my toilet/shower speaker and it does a good job, as he said its not a Hi-Fi speaker but the sound is great and nothing to complaine about.
Man listening to your review talking about JBL durability while also listening with my Xtreme 1, yeah still alive just need a batterie replacement and really like new!
If you’re looking for an outdoors only speaker then yes, the EXTREME 4 would be better for 2 reasons. It produces more upper bass & more power going to the tweeters. In battery or portable mode, it also provides more power at 70 watts. This is one of the most important features for an outdoor speaker, loudness. If you’re looking for an inside speaker, the EXTREME 3 makes more sense because it produces better low bass.
cannot find the xtreme 4 on the amazon market place yet. probably upgrade from the flip 5. seems to be able to rule a weekend camping site in the hours of need.
I purchased the xtreme 4, was very happy with the sound until i heard it at around 40-50%. The loudness is very low even lower than the volume of my charge 5 at 50%. Don’t know if thats the case with all the xtreme 4s or just mine is faulty:(
Xtreme 4 is the worst of Xtreme speakers lineup, compared with even Xtreme 2 is day and night, sound in this old speaker is just waaaaay better . Conclusion: the best imho of those 3 is pair of Charge 5's 😅
Agreed, Charge 5 is fairly well balanced sounding unlike the others. Only in deeper bass it cannot compete. I’d disagree with the first reply though, Boombox 3 is far from sounding balanced.
I'll get the 3 because here in Brazil it's half the price of the new 4 model (usd 240 vs usd 480). Xtreme 4 is at the very dame price of Boombox 3 here. No way!!!
I have a xtreme 1st gen. The battery life was garbage so i replaced the 5000mah bat with a 10k one and im still happy with it. Simple $35 upgrade to extend the life of my speaker.
Picked up an Xtreme 3 a couple of weeks ago for £175 via Amazon. The Xtreme 4 is a brilliant upgrade, but I bring my Boombox 2 with me if I'm ever out in the summer so...Kinda doesn't matter considering I can use the Xtreme 3 to fill in some of the highs at a lower volume. You basically can't go wrong with any JBL speaker beyond the Charge series tbf.
I have the Xtreme 1 and 2 & both have served me well , the power they produce is very impressive ! however now with the Xtreme 4 its in a very competitive market especially at this price point - I did have a brief demo & as you say in this video it sounds really good , I think people would go for this as much for its durability as for its signature sound , its ideal for camping & out door adventure obviously hence the name , I take mine to the Royal Welsh show ever year & with the music pounding out at our show stand it attracts potential customers in to see our range of Excavators & plant equipment & often get asked what speaker are we using ? - I place it somewhere on 1 of the diggers lol , just to keep them guessing where its coming from . Great review again . thank you , Stu.
I have the JBL Go 1 and Go 3 and I upgraded to charge 5 and it’s soo good sound and bass but now i think maybe it’s time to get the new big boy Xtrame 4 for some more hours play time and some better sound and bass
I use an equalizer app, that tunes my JBL Xtreme 3 even while using party boost with another speaker. (tunes both) Then as it becoming stand alone, i really dont need AI to assist my personal EQ presets for different music. Then a 5 watt difference i dont think will be noticeable SUB wise, because i already boost the bass to the max and optomize the tweeters, and youl hear and feel the bass no-matter what.
I have it and it’s loud but I want to be immersed in the sound when I wear it so I need something louder which is gonna be the xtreme 3 for this summer bc the xtreme 4 goes on sale in June I ain’t waiting lol.
My cousin got me a flip 5 for Christmas and I have loved it but if I ever find a deal for a stronger speaker such as the extreme 3 or 4 I will probably make the upgrade. Love the content keep it up!
Right now you can purchase the WKING X20 which is a 200 watt speaker for $224.99. It’s basically a poor man’s BB3. At louder volumes it doesn’t distort, & it provides an ultra clean & wide stereo separation.
Would like your opinion . I have one Extreme 3 and three flip sixes. I actually ordered another extreme three through Amazon renewed for $200. That's quite a lot less than the Extreme four. Do you think that the tech of the Extreme 4 justifies going with that instead of what I currently have? The whole reason I bought all of these is to use them in party mode.
I have charge 4, 5 and Flip 6. Flip 6 i take to work with me almost everyday. I switch it up sometimes. I love bass, and all 3 has great bass albeit Charge 5 has the best from the 3 i have. I want Xtreme 3 or 4.
@@randamuweeaboo5776 Lol thanks. I know some people don’t care about the aux but I originally got the extreme 3 for the aux and multiple ports since I make beats.
@@pasonveronica2370 That is true. It’s just not convenient. Cause with my set up I keep it on the charger as it’s plugged up via the aux. But the Extreme 4 I’d probably have to get an adapter of some kind to do the same thing.
Im confused as to which speaker I should be getting, my options are Bose soundlink/ jbl charge 5/ ue boom 3/ harmankardon onyx 7 (getting it at a steal) My needs are the sound quality, bass and loudness.. Please help me figure it out
JBL xtreme is not made for the best possible sound! If you want the best possible sound and the flattest frequency, JBL is not for you. JBL offers no manually adjustable eq. AND JBL 2 and 3 and 4 have too similar sound to each other. If you have xtreme 2, it makes no sense to upgrade to xtreme 3 or 4 if you ask me.
How could you review a speaker and not tell us what the frequency response is? Has everyone gone completely and utterly insane? And I can't even get you out of my search results so every time I go try to find a video on any speaker or musical thing like this you're going to be there clouding up the search results and preventing me from knowing what I need to know to purchase this product.
