Hello Judy...thanks for taking the time to do another awesome video podcast...love everything you shared...from samplers to baby designs...hope you had a wonderful Fourth...best wishes and happy stitching ❤❤
Judy ~ another enjoyable and inspiring video. I loved the new samplers you shared ~ I must add owning an original sampler to my wish list . . . one day for sure. I purchased the Rose Motif Sampler this afternoon ~ I am in love with the letters. And ~ I must thank you sincerely for the lovely words you shared about the gifts I sent to you . . . I appreciate the words of kindness ~ and your quotation. Have a splendid holiday with your friends and family.
I love your baby designs. Also seaside cross stitch, patriotic ABC, Sweet land of Liberty, Angel, ABC of Christmas Trees. I just enjoy your cross stitch
Judy - thank you for showing some of your older designs which are still available. New stitchers will find them helpful to see, along with those of us who were away from stitching or who had no access to a LNS for many years!
I love seeing your work. You do amazing work. So far I've stitched a couple of your French Country designs. Those are amazing. Thank your for continuing to share your beautiful work.
Great flosstube. Your hydrangeas are beautiful. You always look lovely and elegant. Your blouse or dress look so nice. Sorry about deer menu at your house. Thanks for sharing your beautiful designs. 💙💙💙🌸🌸
Judy I had hydrangeas in my front yard years ago and we have woods all around us. I sprayed Deer Away on those bushes but the deer were not deterred and I gave up planting any more of them in my garden. I do hope they will not destroy your beautiful bushes this year. And what a great week of kindnesses you had! Thank you for sharing your releases from past year designs. The pull toy animals were delightful stitches.❤️ Happy 4th celebrations to you and your family🇺🇸
Hi Nancy, we use Deer stop too, but it doesn’t seem to help much! The funny thing is, there are hydrangeas on the side of the house and they leave them alone! I’m not ready to give up yet! Happy 4th!
Malta is a town in Saratoga County, N.Y. South of Saratoga Springs. I truly enjoy all of your designs and have several of them and enjoy all of your floss tubes. I always look forward to the next one
Enjoyed watching, Judy. Especially loved the Christmas wreath design you are reprinting. I also loved your 3 summer/ July 4th designs in the contest. Hope you have a Happy 4th of July. Happy Stitching! 🧵
Hi Judy! The new sampler you found is GORGEOUS. I live about 20 minutes away from Malta in Saratoga County NY! How interesting! Your designs are just beautiful. I just adore you! I wish we were neighbors.
Thank you so much for letting me know that Malta is part of Saratoga county. That’s part of the fun of antique samplers- learning about the young girl and where she lived! I wish we were neighbors too!
Good morning Judy. I am currently stitching Eliza's French Birds and I'm enjoying every single stitch! It is such a joy to stitch and I will be sad but excited at the same time when it is complete. I think I will take it to my LNS and have it framed in a very delicate frame.
Malta is a town in Saratoga County NY. I grew up near there. Saratoga NY is of course rich in American history. I didn’t read through the comments to see if anyone else might have given you this information. Love all your Christmas ornaments!
I am so glad you have reprinted so many of your classic patterns. Your favorite sampler of the 3 was also mine. I do hope you will chart that one day. And yes, I did notice that your striped cup, striped shirt and even the blue hydrangea all matched. Hope your 4th is fun and safe.
I love that you are reprinting some of your older designs. I did take a hiatus from stitching while my kids were growing up. I also love the Christmas ornaments collection books. I stitch an ornament every year for my children and granddaughter so all I have to do is pull out one of your collection books and choose an ornament. I still need to get books no. 2 & 5 yet, hopefully in the near future. Thank you for sharing all your designs! Happy stitching!
Good afternoon Judy! Another lovely Flosstube ❤️….seeing some of your older designs brought back a lot of memories. It also made me go stash diving and bringing out some of your patterns I have not stitched! And I love them, so why are they not stitched? I do know it is faster to purchase than it is to stitch ☺️….Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday! Also, I was so surprised to hear my name called for one of your beautiful patterns! Thank you so much ❤️
What beautiful antique samplers! Regarding Julia Ann Olmsted: Malta is a small town north of Albany, NY in Saratoga County. I sent you an email about it. I’m almost finished Stitching in the Round. Green Gables will be next. Thank you for your lovely designs and wonderful Flosstubes. I agree that the pandemic led to a growth in stitching, I am an example. It is also when I discovered stitching videos. The French Country Elephant is my favorite for a new baby.
Kathy, there must be a lot of stitchers in your area, as I have heard from 3 people, and I am so appreciative. So glad you are stitching and are inspired!
I recently found your Flosstube channel and I'm so enjoying it! I am a quilter who has picked up cross stitch again. While looking through my stash I realized that I have a few of your designs and can't wait to start stitching. We also have the same problem with deer in our yard. They eat everything! Happy 4th of July!
Hi Judy, Your sampler finds are just lovely. Eve’s sampler sounds delightful with the fun specialty stitches and the lovely colors. I am glad you are bringing back some of your previous designs. Your pieces are just timeless and so classic. Time to think Christmas in July stitching. I just ordered your new ornament book! An idea for your new grand baby: take all your African animals and string them along to look like a pull train. All one color or a different color for each to match the nursery. I actually have the elephant pattern kitted for my granddaughter’s room as a door hanger. ❤ I am so sorry about the challenges to social media. There are such benefits and downsides to it. Hope you have a lovely week. Hugs, Teresa
Thank you Teresa for your baby sampler idea! I can’t wait to talk to my grandson and wife to see what they would like. And of course I love the pins that you and Anna make!
Hello Judy! Someone has probably already said this, but the two dots above the ‘o’ in Dörl is an umlaut and, in German, this changes the sound from ‘o’ to something like ‘ur’. On a keyboard without umlauts the name would be written Doerl. (I used to have a married name with this ö in, so it’s very familiar to me.) It’s a beautiful red sampler, still stunning after nearly 200 years. ❤
Wow! The Malta sampler was stitched about 20 minutes from my home! Saratoga County is at the base of the Adirondack Mountains and is widely know for the race track and lakes there. How amazing to find a New York sampler!!!
Oh Judy I understand your dilemma. Our home is located in a wooded community and I love to garden. We have lived her for many years but for whatever reason last year the 🦌 have discovered our yard. Last year within a matter of days they ate every leaf off my hostas and almost everything else. This year I am spraying the plants and so far it's working...the smell is a little overwhelming the first night but is better the next day.
Many thanks, Judy, for such an interesting flosstube. The samplers in particular caught my interest. The one that has the name Emma Dorl is possibly of German origin as the two dashes over the letter "o" in the name Dorl would be an umlaut which is used for pronunciation of vowels in the German language. Enjoy your Fourth of July weekend.
We don't have deer but I do have several rabbits that keep eating my Zinnias and squirrels that eat my Zucchini and Squash. It is a challenge to plant a garden! Hope you have a wonderful July 4th.
Judy, I love your antique samplers, I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this -- but no reason you should (or even could) remember, but I'm taking the EGA course on how to research samplers and I'm emphasizing my research on Irish samplers, I'm even planning to visit some museums in Ireland when we visit in August! I'm SO excited -- everyone there is so kind and has responded to my emails and questions! And I love your reprints! I'll run over to In Stitches (I found out the correct name is In Stitches Needlework, but we never use the full name around here in the DC area) and pick some up! And Happy Fourth!!
Hi Judy! Enjoyed seeing all of the charts that you are reprinting, and all of the baby designs! The samplers were very interesting! The gift you received of the project portfolio bag was just beautiful! The kindness of the stitching community is amazing! Have a wonderful weekend and 4th! We will be celebrating my husband’s birthday on Sunday 7/2, and then attending a family picnic on Tuesday the 4th!
I love all the baby designs. I also think the patriotic piece you showed at the very end that was finished on the wool background is so cute. Have a great 4th of July!
Judy, your Flosstube today was spectacular, not that they aren’t all fabulous, but so much amazing content was shared! You talked about a past chart that was too expensive to reprint and it made me wonder if you have looked into releasing patterns through your website on PDF? That may be a way to continue sharing some of your designs, and it’s very satisfying to purchase a PDF and download it right away. Just a thought. Also, I mentioned in my last Flosstube comment that living in MD I really needed to stitch your crab design, and guess what…I found the pattern on my last trip to the Stitching Post! I also stitched Christmas in the Round this past week as I found out about a finishing class nearby on round designs, and immediately thought of this one. And, I have Alphabet Hearts all kitted up and waiting for me to start! Your toy animals are just darling and I wondered if anyone has stitched them together, like an animal train…I may think about doing that a future baby gift! Happy 4th!
Thank you for your suggestions Karen. I actually do offer some of my patterns in a pdf format since reprinting is so expensive. But some of the charts are no longer available thru my printer due to their age!
Julia Ann Olmstead was born in 1816 and died 30 Mar 1889, probably in Ionia County, Michigan but is buried in the Dunning Street Cemetery in Malta, Saratoga County, New York. Her first husband Joshua Seaman is also buried in the Dunning Street Cemetery. They had one daughter Mary (Seaman) Bull. Her first husband died in 1863.
