Yeah, that's how time zones work. Your vote was counted, and the news networks are PROJECTING the winner based on the polling and preliminary totals from precincts that closed 3 hours before you, but the FINAL certified results don't come until all the mail-in ballots and early ballots that weren't counted before election day are tallied. The news networks are making educated guesses, but those educated guesses aren't binding on anything.

The old protocol of absentee voting for those who qualify if they apply in advance is utterly different from by default mail-in voting that has come in since covid. Soldiers abroad voted under the old system. You're trying to equate two things that are different entirely.

We've been doing it for >20 years here. All of JD's complaints were dealt with: everyone likes the results. With mail-in more working people vote and more time is spent reading the ballot and making choices. I think people who oppose it want neither of those last two things to be true.

I personally think people should have paid better attention in health class and practice safe sex. This would solve a lot of issues. As far as medical complications and unwanted pregnancies that should be a personal matter. Do not force a woman to resent a child that she didn't want. It is not a good environment to grow up in.

It's also interesting you mention sex education. There is some interest, buy some elected Republicans, to limit access to contraception. Don’t trust mail-in ballots (although Republicans need to up their game on ballot chasing). Vote early if possible if you don’t want to stand in line on election day. The fewer hands on the ballot, the better
