A Vance Trump ticket will definitely scare away moderate republicans and independents. The big thing to realise is that Trump's VP pick wasn't one to attract votes, it was one to ensure the republican party remains Maga long after Trump is gone. Vance is literally a mini Trump. I'm quite convinced this will cost Trump the election, they're now too extreme. The question is who will control the Senate and the House.
If Trump wins which is seriously likely, the Vance pick will ensure a very conservative inward focused America for many years to come. The Democrats are helping with that.

You might be correct with your assumption of Vance but the position of VP has always been a minor one compared to other positions in a president's administration.Trump being a narcissist is unlikely to allow Vance to have much power.
Trump has given up on the suburban women vote. He is trying to appeal to young black and latino men, as recent polls have been showing consistently that these groups are falling for the tough guy act of both of these men.

The best way for Kamala to debate Vance not just constantly attacking him on Abortion but also lay out plan to codify Roe, Biden's housing plan, Minimum Wage etc because people are tired of constant attack , they need to hear plans that improve their lives. The best way to grab voters attention is not Fearmongering (though sometimes it works) , but better ideas on your side. The thing is Kamala, as tough a prosecutor as she is, not really a great politician both stage wise and policy wise. A 2021 Gallup poll found that 32% of men and 29% of women said abortion should be legal under any circumstances, while 21% of men and 22% of women said it should be illegal in all circumstances.

On any rational basis the abortion issue is irrelevant because it is decided by individual states, a possible vice-president's views will hardly affect the matter one way or the other.

I'm personally prochoice but surely there must be women on the US who vote on other issues other than the right to access an abortion. Especially when there's am easy availability of condoms, hormonal birth control, and morning after / abortion pills, or am I wrong? Genuine question.
