Better late than never, I finally get my hands on the JDM SLX DC 70, which is probably the most asked about reel in the past year!

I’ve been covered in tattoos since I was 17-18 I’m 29 and god has been good in my life with continued prayer. I don’t believe god had anything to do with covid or the riots. Not sure if that’s what you meant tho. Love the channel buddy, I wanna get a dc Curado or chronarch. Something with a salmon steelhead sized Spool.

@@THEREELTEST well, I will say it is worth the little bit of extra money but honestly they are just the same, I would probably recommend the JDM version just because of how nice it looks but both are great reels👍

God I absolutely love this reel. I got the 7 ratio paired with a 7’1” Medium Fast action St Croix Bass X rod and wow what an amazing combo! Looks killer with the blue yozuri braid on it! Anything with a treble hook I throw on this combo. Excellent jerk bait combo. Even though it’s a fast action rod I enjoy throwing crank baits, lipless and lipped on it as well. Even little 1/4oz finesse jigs. I also have a Scorpion MGL that I absolutely LOVE. Paired with a 6’10” medium moderate fast action Doomsday 47 rod. Wow what an excellent top water setup.

I think it's a good think when the tension knob is a little hard to turn. It's less accidentally to turn on it's on in a rod locker or while using it

I've been using mine for a bit now and it's smoother than my 151. And I can't confirm but the DC seems to be better at controlling the spool. I should swap spools and test it.

Would love to see a cast comparison. Not even that I think one would out perform the other by any great margin, but just to hear the dc brakes working at the finest lol. You know what would be awesome, an American version of the scorpion dc!

the curado is much smaller and its spool is much lighter, I dont think they are made for the same techniques

If everything else being equal i think the 70 size theoretically should have a slight advantage, due to a narrower spool... Looking forward to casting comparison.

And although the castability and distance is better with the 70 its not huge like you would expect, except when it comes to skipping.

I love all my Shimano reels but that whole 70 size spool gimmick is a joke!! They use all the same parts of a previous year reel (except the spool which goes to a heavy ass 70 size!), change the paint, put some 10 cent bearings in the knobs and hype it up like it's something new.....geez..cmon guys. They just keep setting the hook on fools everyday. BAAAHHHHAAAAAAHHHAAAA!!!

I thought the jdm met was 100 size spool. You can use google translate on your phone to get an idea of what the manual says. It's mostly nonsensical, but you get the general idea.

@@MrUCL The us slx dc is 150, the jdm is 70. Like he says in the video it's not a big difference, the 70 size spool helps with pitching lighter lures.

First thing Mr. Reel Test Guy I believe you do a great service to your fellow fishing enthusiast I enjoy your reviews. As a newbie I have a JDM 70 DC. To be fair I have 2 months of bait casting experience. So please take my opinion in that frame. This reel is junk I would rather cast a Piscifun Phantom or my $60 Lew's entry level baitcaster. I don't have a smooth enough casting motion to get consistent cast with my DC. I've cut more line off this reel then any of my 2 Phantom reels. (those are nice reels easy to use cast a mile smooth as butter soon some ceramic upgrades a $80 reel that is just killing it.)

the Piscifun Phantom is a beast but Shimano doesnt put out uncastable junk. Ill see how mine performs and share with everybody

@@THEREELTEST I went in my back yard went to work I put in a couple of hours really working with a sidearm casts. The backlash issues became much more controllable smaller and the real casts better with less effort. Everytime I try to get a little more this reel will make you pay with an over run. Thanks for the help you need to pin the Japanese translation at the top of the comments.

Hello my friend, very long time im looking for a baitcaster reel. I'm fishing on a very light lures. Also i need to have a spool where i don't need to wind like 300m of line, bcz i use very tight line, max 0.05mm. You are probably the only one to recommend me something for that. A lot of reels i saw, they have a spool of like 0.23mm-150m, that means i need a lot more line to make my spool full. It's better if you have some contact, outside of yt. Cheers

Expensive fishing reels are so over rated. Have the black max,silver,blue maxes. Never had a single problem with any of them and they get used a lot. I'm 64 and fished all my life and have had and been around my share of reels. All that extra money for very minor details is so over rated. Not a pissing match...just truth. Still enjoy watching you hype it up over expensive reels.

Man I did the abu Garcia shred for a min but after going to the dark side of SLX DC's I'll never look back. Hope you join us on the dark side one day. Honestly if you hit me up on here I would gladly share a SLX dc reel from my arsenal just to show you. send me the specs of your typical fishing I would happily spool it up for you already set up just for you to see. I'm sure with using abu your deff a thumb master, this will be the most forgiving reel you ever tried. It gave me more time on the water. Silver max is a fixing work horse tho I'm not ever gonna lie on that.❤

this is a pretty shitty review.... You need to take them apart and see what the internal is like. Is it different bearings or same one in both? What is different side?
