Well, they play spouses on RU-vid but they actually are just friends... Chase was a young adult when Millie arrived as a kitten, so he was either in a parental role or at least an uncle or friendly big brother, showing her the ropes of how to be a cat. Cats who really like each other and aren’t too hyper to cuddle will entwine themselves as Chase does with Millie, and genders don’t matter at all. Chase is a curious combination cat, since he protests vocally and physically if anything is taken from him or if anything in his immediate vicinity is changed, but at the same time he’s very cuddly with other cats and humans. He was born to be a RU-vid star, I guess.

Our Maxwell adores Gracie. She is old enough to be his grandmother, but he doesn't mind. She wants nothing to do with him. Real life kitty broken 💔. Bubby, RIP, adored the kittens when they arrived. He was especially fond of his little 'niece' Lizzy. Bubby would spend hours playing with the kittens.

Well usually if you want cats to get along, get then both when their kittens, so they have more bonding time. That’s the best way, but if they’re already adults, then the best way is to let them naturally warm up to each other it takes time, and I mean a while. - a owner of two cats

Even being littermates is no guarantee that they will like each other. One cat was truly awful to her genetic sister. She showed irritation with her sister even when they were little kittens. That was just the way she was. We survived. You just have to treat them as equally as possible so nobody can blame you... Make sure food especially is available readily because wars are fought over scarce resources. Likewise for toys they both like. Or room on the bed. Or cat beds, litter boxes, cat trees, other favorite spots. If one cat interferes with another cat eating (can especially be a problem if one is a kitten), find spots for the dishes that don’t make that easy. Since adult cats often defer to kittens and let them eat first, I have picked up a kitten and shown it to the other cat, saying I will hold onto the brat until the other cat has finished eating. I had to do that also with one kitten who would not leave her foster mom alone on the bed. I would hold the kitten until she fell asleep so mom could have some peace. Try to talk with one while playing with another and offering the toy to the non-playing one periodically to show you aren’t playing favorites. Mostly don’t interfere as they sort things out except for violations of litter box protocol (or serious rudeness at mealtime). If one cat bothers the other one trying to use the litter box, grab the offender and protect the other one’s rights. You don’t have to yell at the offender, just make it quietly clear that bothering the roommate in the litter box is totally unacceptable and make sure the other cat hears you. It is just plain rude to bother a cat in the litter box. I found that litter boxes with hoods are helpful in such situations, if the cat is ok with them, because if there is a rude roommate the cat can position herself either entirely in the box or with head and shoulders sticking out, ready to poke at the impolite one. I’ve had to tell a cat more than once that no, I’m not going to throw her roommate X out into the snow no matter how much she complains, so she has to learn to live with X... Just hold firm to the idea that you are all in this together, nobody will be bounced out, and you all have to be civil. But they can indeed live together in a civil manner even if they don’t like each other. So don’t worry about it . You can’t force anybody to get cuddly with someone else, regardless of species. And some cats are too hyper to cuddle anyway. If they are ok with their human and feline roommates, you can tell because they will happily sit or lie down near each other and don’t seem to be plotting the other one’s death. If two cats actually play wrestle or box or chase each other around in a game of tag, they are friends. If they don’t get seriously hostile when the other cat sniffs their butts, that’s a sign of at least civility. Don’t worry about some hissing and growling. That’s just cat language for “stay out of my face” or “get out of my spot”. Real hostility is very different and unmistakeable. Also be sure you are not interpreting normal play fighting for real fighting. No blood drawn or scratched noses is a good sign. If one cat has a hair trigger, though, minor disputes between roommates can look worse than they are.

@@scarlet-light119 my 2 yr old male cat just met his sister ( same parents diff litters)and after about 2 wks they are besties..dexter is 2..dixie is 8 wks and tiny...but they are inseperable..it just took alittle time..it will all work out😊good luck
