Jean-Baptiste Monnot demonstrates his 'L’Orgue du Voyage' portable pipe organ, here established in its home in St Ouen Abbey, in Rouen, France. Here is my video I made recently of Jean-Baptiste Monnot performing on his wonderful portable organ system, located at the back of Saint Ouen, Rouen, France. "The Travel Organ is a modular instrument designed and produced by Jean-Baptiste Monnot.
Pipe organ “outside the walls”, transportable like a concert piano, it allows Jean-Baptiste Monnot to meet audiences, making the organ and its repertoire accessible, in renewed environments and for innovative artistic projects.
Each element being modular, the organ can be recomposed and adapted according to the place and the concert. The musicality and plasticity of his timbres make it possible to explore a very large repertoire, as a soloist or with ensemble."

Interesting question how about the recit box expression?

So i bought thr CD and am slightly disappointed that the booklet provides no information about the specification of this organ. Why the secrecy??

Wonderful. Reminds me of the Rodgers touring organ that Virgil Fox used to tour with. Except this one has pipes all over the stage rather than speaker horns. Sounds much better, too. Is the connectivity done with midi?

I believe its something similar - I was told but I didn't recognise the name. But its digital control of course.

Is it all real pipes? Or are there electronic voices in there too? Doesnt look like enough pipework to support all that sound!
@theprof291166
@theprof291166 3 года назад
Its all pipes! The only thing that is electronic is the action from the keyboard. But its all pipes I can assure you.

@JakePurches-Base2music
@JakePurches-Base2music 4 года назад
There is a blower unit in the centre - and it sends wind to all the modules.

I wonder if the arrival of this instrument in St. Ouen is in preparation for the Cavaillé-Coll to be taken out of service for a full restoration?

No he moves it about, thats the whole point. Although the building is getting fully restored at the moment the organ isn’t. It doesn’t need it!
@richardharrold9736

@@julianmatthews5785 from what I have seen, heard and read, the C-C at S. Ouen is well overdue for restoration, the console looks very tired, the action appears to be in a poor state of regulation, with the rest position of the very yellowed keys (those that have any ivory left at all!) being visibly inconsistent, and the interior of the organ is indescribably filthy, choked with dust, with visibly collapsing pipes. Aside from an overhaul post WW2 (followed by 50 years of water, dust and glass shard ingress from the window above, prior to its rebuilding in the 1990s), it has never had a full restoration, and it is time that they started at least planning and fundraising for a complete renovation, comprising comprehensive cleaning, pipe repairs, releathering, mechanical overhaul and regulation, and potentially installation of fine mesh above the unenclosed divisions to ensure it never gets so filthy ever again. It cannot be in good tonal shape, revealing its glories in full, with so much dirt and damage. A careful restoration would improve it so much over the rather sad state it's in now.

it has some 32' reed? what is that... a dulzian?
@quentinduverdier2941
@quentinduverdier2941 3 года назад
no, it's a "Théorbe", just some harmonics, and the result is incredible!
@davidecymba
@davidecymba 3 года назад
@@quentinduverdier2941 wow! heard about that but on much larger organs. it actually sounds like a 32' regal or dulzian! anyway the fundamental tone is quite missing (at least here on youtube) but i think is normal if there is no real 32' stop like subbass or montre.
