Thank you so much for this wonderful insight into the great Allemande of the 6th Suite! I will perform this on viola this week and I look forward to exploring these ideas! Also, Maestro Minasi is totally right about the 4 note slurs in Bach's autograph manuscript (i.e. bars 4 and 5 of the Chaconne for violin and similar passages.) Whenever he writes a group of 4 notes such as this over a quarter or eighth note (double stop) his slurs are starting on the second sixteenth note because there is no room to reach the first sixteenth of the group, being blocked by the lower note. All urtext editions miss this point!
