Rest in Peace, Ms. Jean, and thanks for all the grooves! In 1973 I was a white kid attending a majority minority middle school (Col. Josiah Belt Jr. High) in Glenwood Maryland and after the bell rang we'd all race over to someone's house to catch Soul Train on the box and we'd dance and laugh and have a grand old time. Some of the best lessons if my life were learned then and there, especially that while I wasn't anything special, many of my friends were, and that's where I developed my lifelong love of '60s and '70s soul music. The power of music to bring people together! 💕🙏

So sad she's gone! But she was great she was one of my disco ladies of the 70''s like Donna Summer, Sue Robinson, hot Chocolate, Shaka Khan, kc and the sunshine band and others, I' watched soultrain, solid Gold all the time😢😢😢

A terrific song recorded in 1970 at Malaco Studios in Jackson, Mississippi, arranged by New Orleans producer Wardell Quezergue (who plays organ on this track), joined by studio musicians Vernie Robbins on bass, James Stroud on drums and Jerry Puckett on guitar. The unnamed horn players and backing vocalists are also great, the whole thing is so tight and funky. If you like this, check out King Floyd's "Groove Me" which was recorded at the same session and was also a big hit.

That's great, but does that have to do with this song???? Does race have to be always rammed down everyones throat? Give it a rest....

I had aspirations as a teenager to go on "Soul Train and "The Price is Right...back in the 70s...as well as mimicking the dance moves from the Soul Train dancers.😊❤😂

I came from the generation in the 1970s when everyone watched Soul Train regardless of what race, color or background you came from. We also went to clubs in Midtown Manhattan and uptown, Harlem, Lower East Side that were Black owned and Salsa Clubs, we went to soul food restaurants, we went to gay clubs, underground clubs in NY Chinatown and everyone got along and had great times! Miss those days!

Rest in Power lived that song as tot. Those old folk would be turning up with those Christmas house parties. Every cookout had crabs, and every Friday fish. This song brought us so much joy and fun. Now I know who made the song, but never forgot the hook. Rest in power. Your contributions made joy , laughter for so many. 😂😂😂😂😂🦋🦋🦋🙏🙏🙏🙏💕🌹🌹🌹🌹

11, and a R & B lover, the songs goin' through my head: to the tune of Aretha (All the kings horses), Staple Singers (I'll take you there), Jean Knight (Mr. Bigstuff); at a time when I would sing on request; Loco motion, Little Eva; Donny & Marie, Puppy Love; Gladys, Midnight train to georgia; Jackson 5 (Rockin' robin); To all the ones we've lost so far,... you are forever ingrained in our hearts!

Can you believe that this was the biggest selling record on the STAX label? Bigger than shaft and that won an Oscar! Look it up.

Nasci muito depois dos anos 70, mas sou muito fã do R and B clássico. Por exemplo, Sam Cooke, The Temptation,Gladys Night and the Pips
