She doesn't get a lot of credit for uncle Buck, she was very convincing. She had to act like she hated John Candy for almost the entire film which would seem impossible.
@@hayladesign86 Only because her character hated how she and her family had to move to Chicago from their original home of Indianapolis (since they weren't making enough money), and also dealing with how much her mother has to travel back there to reconnect with her dad, after having a heart attack.
You'd think she would be more appreciative, since she rags on her mother for serving Chinese take out. "What an wonderful dinner. How DO you find the time, mother?"
No-one could play Tia but Jean, such a convincing performance. This film is an '80s classic and will remain one. Great acting all round, particularly from the one and only John Candy. RIP, Mr Candy. Your films will be shown for generations to come
Jean Louisa Kelly was so perfect for Tia and no other actress could play her so perfectly. Uncle Buck had so many great actors for that movie. They attempted twice for a TV Series, but it failed and didn't go past the 1st Season. John Candy is Uncle Buck, and you could learn alot from Uncle Buck.
I just saw this movie for the first time and its strange that now at 50 year old she doesn't look like this at all. I mean she looks like completely different person.
1:09 The exact moment when Buck realizes who he's dealing with, and the battle of wills begins. Tia's treated him like crap and he pauses juuust a bit before cheerily asking: "Hungry?" XD And from hereon in it's war until they reconcile.
Jean Louisa Kelly how Hollywood missed this talented performer is beyond belief. Her performance as the Bratty, snoty, snoby, moody, rebellious teen Tia has never been matched in any comedy movies since by any actor
Her character kind of reminds me of my Grandniece. She can be like that too towards random people or the little sister, it just makes me laugh when she doesn’t realize her actions that she’s giving him a hard time with her snobby eyes lol.
Absolutely true,as brilliant as john candy was in that movie without jean louisa there's no way " uncle buck" would of become the iconic cult classic it became. The "Tia" caracter embodied the 80's teen, that's not something that can ever be replicated.
Sometimes. I looked horrible when I was a teenager lol. I had this weird reverse mullet haircut and people offten thought I was a dude or a butch lesbian. In my early 20s I wasn’t that good looking either. I started to look cute when I was 26 ish and now at 30 I look like I should have looked when I was a teenager lol. Aging in reverse
Generally men between the ages of 35-45 out perform men between the ages of 18-24. Though men are voted to look their best at 28 and 29. There's something about looking seasoned as a guy, you have to "kill the boy" in you, so to speak.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 I’m in my early 20s. Can confirm that people in their early 20s aren’t the easiest to talk to. I’m figuring it out though.😂
Jean Louis Kelly is super-gorgeous. Great film btw. Great chemistry between John Candy and Jean Kelly. Whole cast is good. Not the greatest fan of Macaulay Culkin, but he is good in this, as was a young Gabby Hoffmann.
"I'm a teenage girl, I'd rather be anywhere but here. I'm going to alternate between mean comments and long sullen silences. So which is it going to be: mean comments or long sullen silences?" - Deadpool 2016
I love how Buck is wearing bright colored clothes to resemble his warm, loving personality and Tia is wearing dark clothes to resemble her dark, bitter attitude. It’s small stuff like this that makes me really appreciate John Hughes’s movies
Ms. Kelly, I loved you in Uncle Buck, the Fantasticks (one of my favorite shows - and I loved your rendition of “Soon It’s Gonna Rain”), and Mr. Holland’s Opus. I saw you as Snow White at the Martin Beck in ITW. What a range in your life’s work. I always wondered what it was like to have worked with Mr. Candy.
I recognized her right away when I watched Top Gun: Maverick today. She played Ice Man's wife. Couldn't think of her name for anything though and had to look it up to be sure, but it was her!
She's 17 in real life at the time this movie was made. I remember being 16 - 17 in high school 52 years ago and thinking older girls were more attractive. I sure was stupid back then.
One of my favorite morals to any movie, the mom who doesn’t trust the brother in law who ends up giving her her estranged daughter back. Actions are better than words kind of thing.
He was a great character and a legend. She would make a great comedian for how ungrateful she is to such a cool uncle. 😆 Just a fact, I think she would with her attitude.
