"Pfaff has always been a great goalkeeper, an athlete physically, and technically at the highest levels, a perfectionist with a great spirit of sacrifice" (Johan Cruijff about Jean-Marie Pfaff) Music: OGRE - The Bench
Wouter Dehaut I think Courtois suffers a lot of long distance goals and I'm not much fan of tall goalies like Courtois I've always preferred goalies with short to medium stature but Jean Marie Pfaff is better than Courtois because Jean's saves were more difficult than Courtois
Sterk in penalties stoppen.
I remenber him. Was very good! In a time that only 3 strangers can play for a team, Bayern hire him, that shows how good he was... rarely a squad hire a foregneir keeper in that time
Pfaff was so good, that he was the only foreigner Goalkeeper for FC Bayern who was a first eleven Player. And he reached the CL Final with Bayern in 1987.
Even he didn t play for a great team of Belgium: No Anderletch, No Brugge, No Standard. ...Pfaff played for Beveren! A very small team....that could be champion of Belgian league twice during Jean Marie times....
At the euro 80, he was great. The firt time i saw him, it was for a game against Netherland (world cup 78 qualifer). He played very well only beaten by Rene Van der Kerkoff (le poète). He was good too, against Argentina in 82.
Unforgettable great goalkeeper of Belgium National team and Beyern Münih team. A great talent than left her mark on an era, l will always remember her with love respect. Turkey love from İstanbul Jean Marie Paff 🙏🤠
That area with Pfaff, Schumacher, Dassayev or Van Breukelen to name but a few. Great goalkeepers and also there was a personality in the goal, someone to look out for.
Jan Tomaszewski, Sepp Maier, Dino Zoff, Peter Shilton, Pat Jennings, Ray Clemence, Harald Schumacher, Pfaff, Renat Dassayev. I also mention Bruce Grobbelar who was eccentric; unfortunately he was from Zimbabwe, a country that couldn't compete in international level.
Having watched football for over 35 years now, thinking of the best GK's i had watch, Pfaff always comes to mind... I mean, after Schumacher, Buffon, Casillas, Neuer, Dasaev, Kahn, Schmeichel, i have to say Pfaff is my favorite. Second, who also happens to be belgian, is Michel Preud'Homme. These guys were amazing!
He read the game like the best and made saves by taking away the best options very quickly. Very smart, all instinct. On top of that he was able to come with the spectacular saves due to his athleticism. He commanded the goal and his team like a true captain.
He and Hans van Breukelen are quite similar, that I sometimes get confused when trying to distinguish between the two. Both were excellent penalty stopper.
The most amazing things about Pfaff is that he only become professional player at age 27. To participate to the Euro 80, were Belgium reach the final, he has to take hollydays from his job as bank teller
On 1'52" he is in the same situation of 86 WC semi final first gol against Argentina....here he does his job properly.... there, he messed up the lucky of Belgium on WC.
the best goalkeepers are the vintages goalkeepers in the past it was so much hard playing as goalkeeper also what fucking Bullshit that only tall goalkeeper's are good, look Jean Marie Pfaff, MICHEL PREUD'HOMME, Neville Southall, Victor valdes, CLAUDIO TAFFAREL, SEPP MAIER, JORGE CAMPOS, Oscar Perez, SHILTON, Gordon banks, IKER CASILLAS, FABIEN BARTHEZ, higuita, OSCAR Cordoba,Carlos Navarro Montoya, GILMAR DOS SANTOS NEVES and so many others but this soundtrack is amazing
