He had his 15 minutes of fame with Toto. He sung the new written songs pretty good but he couldn't match the earlier giant singers. And it's nothing to be ashamed of, not many do. But I don't like his headvoice.
Sometimes I wonder if Luke stuck in the island with Byron what would happen. Also if someone making "I survive listened to all Stock Aitken Waterman songs" maybe Luke should do "I survive listened to everything Byron sings in 6 hours" But actually I like Byron singing :)
He is milking the fact that he was in Toto. At one point the band wanted reunite with Bobby Kimball (original singer of Toto) but the record company insisted that they chose this man as the lead singer. What a mess that was, the band hated him and he was put as a background singer mid tour to finally be fired after the tour.
there are two sides to every story but yes aparently the whole band disliked him after they actually spent time with him. he is a talented singer, but apparently personally he was hard to be with, plus his style on stage (dancing, clothing and attitude) were not a good fit for toto.
I first got introduced to Toto watching the Paris concert on BBC2 in 1990 - I was 16 and at the time didn't know the dynamic or history with regards to him. That concert was fantastic. I do admit I hold Luke on a pedestal, and throughout the years he's always been open and candid so you have to take what he has said about it. However, sitting on the fence, you can't deny that the Toto Past to Present Album, when featuring Jean Michel Byron on vocals, the songs were actual good - many would disagree. But, if you think back to what seemed to happen, (we will never really know) - the record company forced him on Toto, but also consider he was young at the time, probably an ego, and so it goes, thought he could 'refresh' toto - now that is misplaced judgement as they are some of the best musicians on the planet. But if it were you, then yes maybe it's easy to get carried away. It would nice to hear his side. What is not good though, is that he is milking this even now. If you listen to Steve touring right now with Joseph Williams, they've refreshed the song and it is on point. It's a shame Jean Michel still insists on playing this stuff, Bobby Kimball did it, and it was awful. Maybe Jean Michel never really got a chance to shine. When you do look back though, he was out there. Not knocking him completely, but this video doesn't demonstrate that he has it. There are better singers all over You Tube and singing live overnight in Karaoke with a few drinks inside them. He should have taken the chance to put the Toto thing behind him, rather than revel in it, and still milk it to this day. A shame he didn't turn the exposure to an advantage.
@@JackTaylorsFoodReviews I have no problems with the songs he sang on for Toto, they were mostly really good. Just the way it went down, and then the aftermath. I agree with Jack Taylor here, Jean-Michel could have done something better with his exposure the time with Toto gave him.
oh you dirt clods, Sting........... come - on, He needs no introduction, he has all he needs. Is a musician at a different level. I tried to like Steve Lukather, but he just does not click for me.
Luis Feliciano He was sent to tame a lion in Africa and he failed so Toto didn't let him back in the band so he came to live with me and mother at our motel and he makes cheese sandwiches and milk for the guests😈😈😱😱😲😲😲😲😲
Yes. What else has he got? Did 4 songs with them. He was in the band for like 8 months almost 3 decades ago and he is just playing these tunes live. It's lame. Write something of your own.
@@jacepawlak well toto sings out of love still too. People requested toto songs on a private party. There so much cover bands playing toto so why shouldn t byron
He still has it! Always will! Don"t forget his not a young 20 something any longer. He was the best singer they ever had. He made those songs his.!!! That will never change.
Even today still totally crucifying outstanding Toto songs, totally criminal. Should be banned from even uttering the nameToto let alone sing their songs again. Just make sure you pay your PPR to the band.
