Jean Michel Jarre on BBC 1 Chat show - Wogan on Wednesday 21st September 1988. Sue Lawley who regularly stood in for Terry Wogan interviews Jean Michel about the Destination Docklands concert
I was there on the first night - the weather was a bit chilly and there was the odd bit of drizzle, but it was far from 'shit' - that was the second night.
As an Englishman, I'd just like to say that I think the French people in general are just like any other. Good and bad in everyone everywhere. Although if you have a poor grasp at speaking French whilst in Paris, you will be sneered at; "Do not ruin my beautiful language, English merde!" they would probably say to you!
Jean Michel Jarre is a great man of ideas, visionary, still relevant, very brave! Go on Jean! But some English people were strange indeed in that time. I remember some of the old folks in Weston super Mare behaved quite xenophobic - angry about the foreigners and chanted against them on the bus with the local skinheads. Were they today's Brexiteers?
god what some shit questions he had to deal with, like are English women better then french, oh come on duck, you can think of funnier questions than that! maybe like what is Charlotte's cooking like, does she cook roast beef or snails? or whos weather do you like more?
