Forget all his accomplishments, he was a success to have someone like Jeanne speak so poignantly about him. Very touching.

Her last words about orson welles about being king is something very true to his life and it gets me every time he was the greatest artist of 20th century without any doubt.

Jeanne Moreau was a fine actress and a classy, elegant woman. What a pleasure to hear her speak fondly of Orson Welles. He cast her in “The Trial,” “The Immortal Story,” and the unfinished “The Deep.” But their crowning achievement was “Chimes At Midnight,” which she discusses here. It was Welles’s favourite among his own work; he felt it was his peak as director and actor. I agree totally!

Goddess. Legend. Woman. For Jeanne Moreau to speak so of Orson Welles was itself worth a kingdom.

it's so true for some people the problem is not their talent but that the world is not good enough for their talent

What a woman! Orson Welles proclaimed her the best actress in the world. And he was never wrong about anything!

I'm eternally in love with Jeanne! For me she is alive in my heart, mind, and soul. I've seen her in so many films and am always captivated by her performances. I have a large painting behind me on the wall I did of her that's a tribute to 3 of her films; Elevator to the Gallows, The Immortal Story, and Mademoiselle. Yes, what a woman indeed!

@@littleghostfilms3012 Thank you, you inspire me to seek out and watch more of her movies. She was totally captivating on screen - beauty, intelligence and natural charisma are a powerful combination. Which of her movies would you say really showcases her talent to the max? There's a wonderful, lesser known British movie called THE SUMMER HOUSE (also sometimes called THE CLOTHES IN THE WARDROBE), set in the 'fifties, in which she stars as a magnetic, eccentric older woman. I believe it can be found on RU-vid - I highly recommend it. It also stars a teenage Lene Headey of 'GAME OF THRONES' fame. It is very funny, with the best surprise ending - if you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat!

@@glamdolly30 I'd be happy to share some of my favorite films of her's! I don't know what other films of Jeanne's you've seen but I'd say you must see the 3 films I mentioned. They are all very different from each other and show her ability to play very romantic, very disturbed, and very soulful roles. Mademoiselle is a dark, tragic and creepy movie in which she plays a school teacher in a French village who goes around in secret setting fires and vandalizing while appearing to be very proper to everyone. Luckily I keep lists of all the films I see and lists of films my favorite actors are in so I have a Jeanne Moreau list to refer to. I'll try to be concise and give you a few others I think are must sees. Jules and Jim, The Lovers, The Diary of a Chambermaid, La Notte. Also The Bay of Angels in which she plays an elegant gambling addict, Touchez Pas Grisbi(Hands off the Loot) a crime picture and one of her earliest roles, Going Places where she has a minor role later in the film but is one of the most heartbreaking characters she ever played. I could easily recommend others but I don't want to overwhelm you with more of my opinions about her. I just get such a thrill talking about her as I do anything to do with films and art in general. Thanks for the response and hope you can see Jeanne Moreau in some of those films or others. Ciao!

@@littleghostfilms3012 What a treat to hear those recommendations from a real fan of this great star. You are obviously a highly intelligent and insightful person. Thanks so much - I will hunt these down! Mademoiselle sounds very intriguing, I'd love to see her play a dark and intriguing character like that. Bless you for the gift of your time and informed opinions, I appreciate it. Wishing you the best of everything in 2021! XXX

@@littleghostfilms3012 Amazing. It's good to see another Moreau enthusiast. I love and adore her, too. I was beginning to think that I was the only one to remember, Going Places. A '70s film, very provacative and an early one for Gerard D. Yes, Jeanne's performance was heartbreaking in that one. I was really young when I saw it, and need to see it again. She is such an instinctive actress, one of the most compelling I've ever seen. I also thought she was fantastic in La Notte, by Antonioni. She and Mastroianni made such an impressive acting team. I've yet to see Eva, but plan to. Jeanne is a rare beauty, and never fails to edify my appreciation for her.

I can't help but recall the Alex the Great related quote, '...ask for thyself another kingdom, for that which I leave (by inheritance) is too small for thee.' A unique figure(head) indeed.
