Another maintenance video of my Merry Fisher 805 . Don't forget to checkout my other video's #merryfisher #jeanneau #merryfisher805 #volvopenta #shaftseal
I use a cleaned put plastic toothpaste tube for greasing under the seal. Cut off the flat end and fill the tube with grease. Leave on the cap. The cut flat end will then wrap around the shaft and push up under the rubber seal. You can push as much grease as you like well up under the seal from the tube. As Valentio says, don't forget to burp the seal until seawater comes in. Those Volvo seals are the best thing Volvo make.
Just one question mate. At the end where you're pushing the Volvo grease in. Would it not have been easier just to grease the end of the shaft with it, then just slide the seal on?
The seal is a double lip seal so when pushing on , there would be no grease on the outer seal so I insert grease in the outer seal . Additionally it is recommend by Volvo. 👍
Hi I don't know if you can help. I have an 805 that needs the alternator removed and replaced. I can't quite reach the bolts from above. Have you ever done a video of this process. Any will be much appreciated
Sir, i have this in my Yacht hi can't Purge it because tge Rubber is to Strong, you would need a Grip like Tyson to squeeze it, and tips on getting this Done, Squeezing is not an option for me
The 2 lip seals are at the very tip of the shaft seal, squeeze no more than 20mm back other wise your trying to squeeze the reinforced part of the shaft seal.
