Originally a novel and movie before the TV show. The novel and movie are much more scandalous and scathing of small town life than the watered down TV show
I remember my Aunt (my mom) that raised me used to sang this song with so much emotion..lol bc we came from a SMALL TEE NINNY LITTLE BITTY TOWN OF MAYBE 600.. AT THAT TIME.. it was JUST LIKE THIS . 😂😂
They created a Harper Valley PTA television show with Barbra Eden as Mrs Johnson. Before that she starred opposite Larry Hageman in I Dream of Jeannie.
song came out in late sixties, early seventies, there was tv series based on the song in the early eighties, starring barbara eden of i dream of genie., the steel guitar was just amazing...doesent get enough credit.
Just came across your channel and as soon as you mentioned Jesus Christ I subscribed ✋😀 . This is one of my Mama’s favorites we still listen to it together ❤❤ great reaction guys!!!
Someone just mentioned this to me and I looked it up. "Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye." Matthew 7:5 NLT Great Reaction 😊
Jeannie, pronounced like the "genie" in a bottle. Another country song, like "Ode To Billy Joe", "The Gambler", "The Night The Light Went Out In Georgia", who's storytelling inspired a movie.
Say her name: "Gee-Nee" C Riley. Widow Johnson asks about everybody's dirty laundry. It's a M.Y.O.B. message: Mind Your Own Business, people. "Peyton Place" was a fictional town examined in a "hot" novel for grown-ups back in 1956.
I remember this song well it made us all laugh at the hypocracy we as humans can espouse. Being a christian myself, it would have shown more humanity and care if one person had a talk with the mother in the song about the concern for her daughters upbringing, in a caring, un- judgemental, and (private) one on one way. Not a letter that she knew was gossip in the whole school district. We should never think to embarrass each other like this. It breeds resentment and doesn't solve anything. She might have been angry at first. But love being shown might have yielded better results in the long run.😊
OMG in 3 days no one corrected this as.... IT WAS - 1968. Her hair is patterned off of Elvis Wife who had that hair vs hippy straight in into the early 70s as we saw on the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family teens not puffed in front any longer and teased for younger women as the 60s saw drastic changes in clothes, hair, music into what is perceived as the more modern era that left the 50s behind. The mini-skirt as we knew it was not quite a thing in 78 as 60s into early 70s. Disco was in and harder rock and longer dresses/skirts and disco wear though basic wear was always in with jeans. Also this though Country was also POP. A Pop hit could be any type of music basically.... whether crooners like Tom Jones to Country artist with a super catchy hit as this one and Motown to early rock into pop. Genres were move fluid and radio played all that became hits and independent stations were across this nation seeking the next big discovery and did.... now just a couple huge ones owning all stations. Now you just choose a genre and basically that is what you get and someone in a high place choose whom to promote vs rising from small radio stations also to stardom and many who had true talent.
Are you two really struggling with "Jeannie"? Jee-nee? Jeenee. I'm starting to see how you guys came up with the moniker. I have no doubt you're excellent people, however.
Mini skirts were in back then your over thinking it. Judge NOT least ye be judged ..it was a different time and y'all both missed the point of this song 😂🤣😂
It's not the so-called woke school boards that are deciding morals for schools. It's the Moms for Liberty who want to decide what books schools can have, wanting no separation of church and state, hypocrites full bore.
