It’s so refreshing to watch and talk about music rather than another hidden infomercial trying to sell the magic pedal. You, Buk, Guthrie and a few others are creating a nice music community. I appreciate you mate!

Thanks for saying that mate. I’d rather this all be a conversation and not a sales pitch ya know.

Man, your touch is magical, one of the first things I noticed that drew me to your playing. Acoustic or electric, it doesn’t matter, it’s like as soon as you put your hands on a guitar it starts breathing and comes to life, like a living, flowing thing under your touch. Energy, as you say. Thanks for breaking down just a couple crucial bits of it for us.

Beautiful! Really appreciate the lesson. Looking forward to trying it out. Not that you’re asking for it but I couldn’t help but notice a similarity between you and uncle larry’s old videos. It took him a long time to feel comfortable just letting his advice rip. And that even what feels like a tiny tip or just something personal he does is actually super helpful for us viewers. I rewatch his corona lesson videos a ton and always laugh at how different they are. We’re here bc we love you guys and your playing. Whatever you wanna talk about, fire away!

I never really believed in the "prodigy" thing till Billy Strings came around! He even changed his name to "Strings"! LOL Brazilian rosewood also helps with that beautiful clear tone. 8) Jedd also push's the string close to the fret, not so much in the middle or higher fret. That's something I struggled with. There is less/no sympathetic tone/sound fretting close to the fret like that. That big dreadnought w/Brazilian Rosewood sounds awesome!! So does the player playing it!! 8) I've never been to Australia. A friend of mine flies for a major airline, triple 7 freighter from LA to Sydney 5 times/month. There is a jump seat 8). Peace --gary

The culture of anything is in the details. No need to be apologetic. I think feeling the sweet spot on a string length is also part of it.

Hey Jedd thanks for all the great tips on playing acoustic! Gave me a lot to work on there! Really appreciate it! Love your playing and song writing ❤💕can’t get enough of it on UTube! Hope I can find a few CD’s to purchase. Maybe on your web site? If not there’s always Band Camp. I did find your digital down loads there! And yes that bonus footage of the tune Big Blue Sky was absolutely fantastic! Sounded simply brilliant, stripped down to just you and Tom it was pure magic!👍🎸👏🙌💕🙏✌️👋

Love billy he puts a lot of rock n roll into his bluegrass! Dude kicks ass! You ever surf when you lived back home jedd?
@JamesDailydis
@JamesDailydis 23 дня назад
Dead on! Solo acoustic is about self-producing/self-mixing, i.e., creating dynamics (in the moment); handing the sound guy something inspiring to work with (of course, it helps if you've got Colin behind the mixing console). Anyway, a million ways to do this? Absolutely! Pick attack? Sure! Amount of flesh covering the string? Makes perfect sense! Ultimately, the lesson here is to put in the time, experiment, and trust your ear (you'll know when it's right.) And yes, definitely more acoustic shows. You've already got the makings of a strong set, e.g., "Weather and Water", and that song about "Genevieve"? Also, those last two songs. But what about closing with an acoustic version of "High Lonesome"? Everybody loves a hit. Now I'm dating myself here, but if I had a penny for every time that video played on CMT (back in the day), I could've easily covered that Martin's BBQ bill. LOL. jimmy

Thanks so much Jedd. That left hand tip is gold. It's a constant battle for me to get a richer sound out an acoustic particularly fingerstyle. I've been doing Bryan Sutton's bluegrass course and that's making a big difference to the right-hand flat-picking. Thought this interview with him by Tom was great: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oH5jICnyPus.html
