I like the background noise, nice to hear some ambient things in your everyday life! Way better than some car repair videos that seem like they are recorded on a sound stage.
Funny thing is I worked in noisy places a lot and once you are used to the noise you hardly hear it. Now I'm retired and I found the shop awfully loud ha ha.
I also have studio gear and expertise. The audio is just fine, that's not a vocal booth, it's an auto repair shop. Sounds fine enough for me. When it's reverby, I turn on CC. I do declare, some people will complain even if hit with a golden hammer.
@@PJBonoVox What I notice on my Roku TV, the sound is turned way down when he had it at the 5.1 setting. Like he said, that 5 channel setting on the camera does funny things with the audio.
@@PJBonoVox It could be a combination of things. I have other friends who are RU-vidrs and have their camera on the 5.1 setting and to my end it sounds ok. It may be the software Eric may be using to edit the videos that it is turning down the volume on certain platforms of audio. On my playstation 4, I also see the muted volume on certain videos as well. I was originally thinking it may be how it is uploaded as a issue until he mentioned it.
Obviously you guys aren’t experiencing the problem. It’s not exactly a “Roku issue” as no other channels, regardless of audio settings” are having this problem. The ads during Eric’s videos are coming in exponentially louder than his audio. Not exactly a big deal, but if you are trying to not disturb sleeping children you have to be quick on the remote’s mute button.
You're a true presenter, giving the audience what you know they want. You unplugged the new injector and checked its resistance. before all of us keyboard warriors could ask about it. If this car is back for the oil filter housing upgrade, you can thank yourself that you used that Sil-Glyde on the fittings and the cover. And I like the owner's approach if another injector fails - replace all of the remaining 5. It looks to be in decent condition, so here's wishing the owner some more good years with this car.
I'm amazed that you and other RU-vid mechanics will work around open intake ports without stuffing a rag into them. Every time I've tried it in the past I'd lose every socket I owned, my rings, watch, billfold, kitchen sink, etc. 🙂
It amazes me too. I'm always nervous about open ports, especially since I'm known to drop things. I always have a roll of masking tape on hand, and it goes on as soon as a port is opened. I prefer it to stuffed rags because rags can be forgotten, green masking tape is hard to miss.
I put a smear of lube around the seals so that when i apply duct tape over it all it wont stick to the tape, comes off real easy without moving the seals.
I’m a shade tree mechanic with crappy hearing, I have no issue with your crappy audio, in fact it’s music to my crappy ears ! I appreciate you doing these videos, I hear you just fine and I take away something from every video Eric, so thank you!
The audio doesn't sound too bad to me. The camera probably has a condenser microphone so it picks up in a wide pattern. Maybe there is a setting to narrow that or limit the range. The camera may have a jack for a separate microphone if you want to go that route, you could choose the direction and range you want.
i think he's gonna have to buy another mic if he wants to change the audio pattern and a rig to hold the contraption if he doesn't have that. i don't mind the new setup it's fine, it's a garage lol.
I'm certainly not an audio buff, but would wearing a wireless lavalier mic help to reduce background noise and just record your voice? I don't think they'd be very expensive, either. Just a thought.
It's not too bad now, but I'm wearing ear buds and I can hear all kinds of room noise. It's going to be terrible come this winter when the heater is running off and on. If he doesn't mind more investment, I'd suggest a wireless microphone like the Rode. All they'd have to worry about is syncing the audio afterwards, but that's why you see a lot of RU-vidrs clap before they start talking.
You always said over the years Eric that just because it's new doesn't mean it's good. Good idea to check the injector before putting the car together.
Been watching you since day one , no problems with your audio, you cant please everyone all of the time, i look forward to your videos and i know how much work is involved and we all want you to keep them coming, have a great day
Good job sir! I had no idea you had to pay for service data but I've never been more than a shadetree mechanic. Your skills are admirable and I keep living and learning. Thanks Eric!
I think it's a Roku problem with the RU-vid app. Some channels I follow I have to turn the volume up full to barely hear it and others are blasting and distorted at low volume. I'll have to give SMAR a try on Roku. But I'm sure I've watched it on Roku before and don't remember any extreme problem.
Been a Chrysler tech for 7 years, this is the first time I've seen an injector fail in one of these, but certainly not the first one with oil in the valley lol Got a pretty good technique for pulling intakes now, but those back brackets are still a bit of a pain. Much easier job in a Wrangler with the engine in the other way.
Yep those sideways V6 engines are a pain to work on, maybe mention that to Chrysler, put the dang engines in the right way, and make the Cherokee RWD like it should be too LOL.
Your environment dictates the sound, not you or the camera. Your content is dictated by your fastidious attention to detail, your expertise, and the acute problem solving mind that you have, treating each vehicle without bias, or preconception in your methodology. As a mechanic turned medico, I can say I'd have no problem having you look after my family! The care you take in each vehicle is superb, unfailing, and absolutely so consistent. I'm sure you carry that through all aspects of your life, and I salute you from Australia.
Ironically I dont come here for the audio quality and had u not told me I'd never know there was an issue. Great stuff u post w/excellent video and audio quality no matter what u been using.
It’s a blatantly obvious issue with the audio. If you don’t notice anything, then it doesn’t affect you. No one is bitching about static or chirping birds. We just want to hear what the wise man has to say and can’t without blowing the speakers out of the tv. Lol
Similar problem with circuit boards. Never trust the printing on the board for installing Transistors, diodes, capacitors. Always look at and remember or write down the way you removed a part from the circuit. Then install the new one the same way.
It is good have this video as a reference for owners of the Chrysler Pentastar 3.2 and 3.6 liter engines. Working with fuel injectors and the fuel rails appears easy enough to do.
I used the "turn backwards until you feel the threads drop in the groove" trick on vacuum cleaners with those coarse thread plastic body screws as well. As for "torquing to specs" on those screws, my rule was to use my fingertips to hold the screwdriver, and never my whole hand. If it was as tight as I could get with my fingertips, it would not rattle out of the plastic, but it also wouldn't break the screw bosses.
Boy Eric, are you lucky - I saw you check the resistance of the injectors and most were the same except for one, which was the bad one. Then you put the new one in your hand, fiddled with it, and installed it !!!! The bells and whistles started blaring in my brain and my mind said - "" Isn't he going to test the resistance of the new injector to be sure its the same as the good ones ??????? My hands were ready to write a full page reply with not so good admonishments !!!!! Then your brain kicked in and said exactly what mine was thinking !!!!! And you checked the resistance - I'll bet everyone was over joyed at that !!! I was !!!!! We think alike !!!!! Very good diagnosis and quality dis and re assembly !!!! All the while giving us your hints and tips as well as cautions and dangers to better us in our own endeavours !!! Spectacular teaching !!!! That's a lot of cash every month for that data you purchase from them companies - I hope you always get your moneys worth !!!!!! I say that about my internet cost per month - is this expense really worth it ??? And when I watch SMA, Rainman Rays, Pine Hollow, and many other QUALITY websites - I say - YES, it sure as hell is !!!! There is quality in Avoca, NY !!!!!!! 😃🤩🤓🤡😺
Yay somebody my age! WD-40 smells like diesel in a spray can. Liquid wrench #1 for bolts and 3 in 1 oil for Mama’s sewing machine and the oscillating fans.
The wisdom of Ohms Law ... great diagnostics, great catch on the bad cylinder order .... glad to see Mrs.O is keeping an eye on you ; ) ... she really does have wonderful smile, love bonus footage (kids, dogs, Josh and Phil also) .. I upgraded my old 1 port Cherokee injectors with 4 port Bosch injectors ... better response and a bit better millage ... got 22 years and 260K out of the old ones .... they fell apart in my hands as I removed them ... lol
When I watch in my living room with 5.1 surround sound the audio is coming out of the rear surround channels. Weird but totally usable. Does not prevent me from watching and enjoying. Thanks for the videos.
Eric I work for Chrysler the spec for resistance on the injectors is 12-18 ohms 3.6 and 3.2 usually if it’s ridiculous amount of resistance it will throw a injector code
Brother, I watch you on the Roku every day and I've got to say I've never once thought the audio was bad and made me suggest you spend money on my behalf for my entertainment and edification. Remember, if I can do it, you can do it! 😁
I truly enjoy watching you work, diagnosing & fixing the *actual* problem. I regret that my physical frailty means that I can no longer cheerfully twist a wrench and actually fix my own car issues, but que ser a ser a...
Just want to say that you exemplify the best out there. I spent 36 years diagnosing and repairing diagnostic imaging equipment (CT and PET Scanners). The process is the same, gather data (from the user, testing, wherever), compare the data available to the symptoms presented and confirm the details, if possible, with the manufacturer’s details, and then, and only then, decide what to do. Intermediate test results as you dig in to the issue are also essential in confirming a diagnosis. Nice!
Love that you are able to take the manifold apart without looking at instructions. That shows your experience. Even though its not rocket science, we still love to see the job done since we might have the same vehicle with the same problem. Thanks Eric! I have to say, I am now a brake R & R master now thanks to your videos. But I still LOVE to see brake videos. When the brake clean bottle is in for t of the camera and the sound effect you put on, makes me laugh every time. I guess I anticipate it, but never really know when its going to happen. Suspenseful! Keep up the good work!
Audio has always been fine and i mostly watch via Roku on my tv. Part of reality shows is the reality and lack of perfection.... It's fine don't worry about it.
I don't do Roku but I agree 100% with the second part of the comment. What we can learn from this channel is above and beyond any issues with audio that someone thought they were having.
00:39 Even if you think that the audio is complete dog poo poo, The amount of knowledge that we "The Internet" gain from you invaluable. Keep it up! And of course, I won't demand a refund. Because I didn't pay a thing to learn from you. Yet you have provided immeasurable experience in diagnosing and repairing vehicle problems. Thank you sir, We appreciate everything that you do.
Thanks for doing your best to address your audio issues. I don’t use RoKu but I’m also affected. It seems that switching to two channels has helped. The audio is much better in this video. It is at least not dropping out like before.
Hey Eric I think the videos have always been great I'm not sure why people have to complain but I love it I love the information please continue to keep it up man
Hi, Mr. Os, and Mrs. O. I guess it they could make the whole thing out of plastic they would. Good job on checking the resistance. Glad you didn't embarrass yourself on TV. That would have been a bummer, even if it would be a teachable moment. Thanks for sharing! Stay Healthy!
As someone who has worked inside small shops for most of my life, the sound quality sounded exactly like the inside of a small workshop. No gripe from me.
I was watching one the other day on my Roku tv and had to raise the volume to double what it normally is. Ads nearly killed what hearing I have left. How exactly is that user error on my part?
I don't recollect anyone but Ford/Mazda numbering cylinders like that, so I was surprised to see you going for the first injector on that bank. I never cared for Mitchell, always an Alldata guy.
WOW Mr. O, that was a lot of work to change these parts. Thank God I have a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LS 2.2l engine. Everything is easy-access. You're a master craftsman with high workmanship ethics. Thank you:)
As another person already commented I suspect that your new camera's built in microphone is omnidirectional (its pickup pattern is from all directions), an external cardiodial microphone would be more directional (the microphone would tend to be more sensitive to sounds originating in front of it and less sensitive to sounds behind and to the sides).
That’s exactly what it is and I used to design microphones…the wider pattern picks up more room reverberation and noises. I agree with the criticism that the background noises are distracting especially the doorbell.
Audio sounds fine to me. i use head phones and adjust the volume as necessary. Honestly, I watch some other channels where the volume is not the greatest, but yours is good. Thanks for posting and sharing everything you do.
That's the sound of a busy shop ! You won't hear crickets that's for sure noise is money and happy customers and bills paid! Also happy viewers 👍at least this one keep doing what you do .
I know you think the audio sucks but I've been at your channel so long it's reminiscent. I like hearing the sounds of you working and telling us what you're doing but at the same time I like hearing the sounds of cars going by and what is clearly wet road. It adds to the feeling of actually being there looking over your shoulder and learning.
The audio and the camera work is great to me. I don't understand how people can honestly be complaining about the free Content and knowledge you put out for us.
If you had the issue you would understand. We aren’t nitpicking the quality. We literally can’t hear what Eric has to say and don’t want to miss out on the wisdom.
I want to blame Mike at Wells Tch for working in a quiet shop, but somehow I don't think the people complaining about the background noise watch his videos. Love the channel, love your work!
How do you ever remember to reconnect all the jiggly bits? I do sparkalators in my wrangler with the big 3.6 and forgot to plug in the throttle body. She was NOT happy when I turned her back on!
Audio is fine, it's the content that we come here for and a good demo to check the injector before just assuming you have the correct one. My car repair days are over, but I enjoy seeing a skilled guy fixing stuff. Thanks
Big time stuff: unwind it until you feel it rise up and drop into the threads. I didn't realize that's my standard practice for almost every fastener. Huge advice & saved me so much heartbreak over the years. Been screwing (and screwing up) threads on motors since 1985. 🤣😵
Note to self red tabs in the garbage. I do a ton of camshafts rocker jobs on those motors timing chains too now the oil pumps are super fancy going bad all the time good stuff. Audio coming through loud and clear i love you dad
Direct injection injectors or standard injectors? Regular injectors, there are just way more cars now aging out would be my guess. What's the average age or mileage of the vehicle that loses an injector?
Depends on who made the injectors ... injectors either get clogged/corroded or the suffer heat degrading/failure on the electrical side ... I've had Bosch injectors last 20 years/260K
A good bit of it is that they’ve gotten very good at engineering things to be as cheap as possible and still make it out of warranty. Things like normal injectors have been around long enough to really get priced down to the minimum.
The audio sounds good to me, I can hear a lot more back ground sounds to as well. Like rubbing sounds, clicking sounds, snapping sounds. Are you say these sounds are bad?
Nah, it’s a volume issue. On Roku and a limited few other devices, you can barely hear the audio even with the volume maxed out. Then when an ad pops up during the video it rattles your teeth.
Thanks for another nice video Eric people don't understand the brain strain you guys go through to fix cars nowadays it's ridiculous what they charge the shops just to keep computer stuff up to date that you guys have to pay for nobody understands that they wonder why they have a 300 400 shot bill
That said, the enemy of intelligibility is reverb or echo. The farther away the microphone is to the source (you) the more reverb and or echo will be present. I would suggest a lapel mic if wirelessly possible.
Boosting your views by that thumbnail I see lol. As a non professional mechanic, the importance of checking that connector of that fuel injector cannot be downplayed. How many hours and unpaid no less, have been wasted by shooting the parts canon at the correct area, only to find out the connector is to blame. Cheers to the owner for taking your advice for also doing the tuneup.
This was a very good lesson to know cant always trust data and to double check with a meter.Ive been wrenching on cars 35 + years and always learning and enjoy watching your vids,Your the best auto tech on you tube in my opinion.
