We finally go back out to West Virginia to bring the Jeep back to its future home in Maryland, but there are some things that need to be done before hitting the highway!

Don't you just hate it when someone overtightens your oil filter and sump plug ! I let a service centre change my oil .... never again ! They almost ruined my sump !

Great vid. I have a 91 and a 01. If you want to keep it looking the way it is wash it then undercoat it. As long as the oil is changed they will run forever. My 91 has 284k and the 01 has 194k. You have a jewel there my friend. Enjoy!

Good tip! It may well have worked, although that filter was REALLY stuck. Will have to keep that trick in mind!

I own a 96 Jeep and a good way to remove a stick filter is to hit a small flat tip screw driver into the gap between the oil filter and the mount for it just be gentle at first and if it don’t work use your purse

4.0 liter straight 6 never gets tired just sometimes groggy, like every entrance ramp. I own 2 a 2001 TJ with 18,352 miles (got a smoking deal...$6,700 2 months ago...lol) and a 1999 XJ Jeep Cherokee on full custom suspension and axles with 38” Nitto Mud Grapplers with beadlocks and lockers and a 5 speed (manual) with 295,729 miles, Love em!

Jeremy Smith My 1999 Xj has almost 330,000 miles and is just like new.These motors and transmission's last forever..

I just bought a 99 cherokee and love it. I'd highly recommend one to learn to wrench on. They're super easy to work on. Rn I have all the carpet and half the interior out atm cause it leaked and the floor started to rust. Super fun to drive too

Love it. My late grandad has a 98 grand Cherokee same motor inline 6 that sat for 7 years at 90k and went through everything to get it back going. Fuel pump, fuel injectors, tune up, and a few other little things. 3 years later running strong at 120k although i think it needs a cam sensor but still great Even motivated me to get one myself a 2000 grand cherooke 4.0. Hope to see more of the Jeep Content!

Easy way to twist off a filter: wrap some sandpaper around it! I managed to remove a filter slick with oil, no problem!

Alex Livingston its a Jeep she will run like a champ with a tune up and possibly fuel pump but it’ll be mint bud

funcolton Since I commented this I replaced the leaf springs on it and it drives well. The right front brake caliper is seized and it drags on the rotor a little but brakes are easy to replace. All it needs is that and an alignment and its perfect.

Alex Livingston ahh I wish mine was that easy, mine needs rear shocks but the upper mount snapped so gotta fabricobble it together and the person who owned mine previously cut the mounts for the leaf springs and now I have death wobble absolutely no fun at all especially being lifted 4.5”

funcolton that sounds rough Haha. The leaf spring replacement for mine was a pain in the ass. I'm just hoping nothing goes wrong with my calipers when I replace them

Dont use fram there cheaply made held together with paper can disintegrate, also they have surface rust on the inside out of the box unlike any other filter

I noticed that the little bubble on the cap for the brake master cylinder was sucked out, you might have a little bit of a leak in your brake system.

The Oil sending unit is right next to the oil filter. So caution should be taken when using a screw driver on the filter. I found that out the hard way.

There wasn't a lot of filter real estate left by that point, but fair enough. Most likely it'd just glance off the more solid surface but there is a chance the exposed threads could be damaged and make it even more difficult to remove.

Hey, I own a Cherokee and have owned a Tj before, the shaking around 60 is called death wobble and is usually do to steering rack issues.

Believe it or not, AcDelco actually has filters that fit other brands of automobile, just as Motorcraft (Ford) makes filters for Chevy engines! We think the incorrect filter was for a 4 cylinder Jeep Cherokee, but haven't looked into it to be sure that is what happened.

Yep! In Maryland for cars over seven years old all you need is the title and insurance!

You can get a 30-day temporary registration to get a vehicle on the road and have a bit of time before an inspection is required. For older vehicles, like this one, Historic tags are an option and don't require any inspection at all.
