Jason from Maryland here. Great episode 👌. This is one of many things I did for my 86 XJ. I fly out to Montana next month to pickup another all original first year XJ, 1984 Chief 2-door.

Great to see you back posting, did you sell the 7.3?

I definitely did not sell 7.3! Frankly I've been fixing up the Jeep so I can do some more serious work on my Ford. That way I have a backup daily driver if needed.

How can I get the complete float and fuel pump kit? How can I get the part number? The fuel gauge on my Comanche doesn't work.

Great video! That helped me out immensely I've got my pump out now ready to be replaced. However, 69302 Bosch does not seem to exist anymore. Can't find it on any major parts vendors. (Rock,Parts geek,summit,jegs,Amazon all local parts houses advance etc..) Any idea on where to obtain? Thanks again for the great video, keep up the good work.

Hi, if you look up the part number for the pump its a Bosch 69302 you should get the same kit I got. I think it's designed somewhat to be retrofit into older model vehicles, so it comes with the hardware to adapt like I got in this kit.

Hey man, I hope your going good. Unfortunately, my 7.3 has another issue. For some reason when you keep it above 2,000 rpm for some time and let off to come up to a stop sign, the truck shakes and idles rough. It almost seems like it is down on a few cylinders. When you get back on the throttle, it runs good again. So its a intermittent rough idle condition. Whats weird about it is it does it at the same stop signs everyday. There are no codes that show up on my forscan app. It passes a buzz test fine. I replaced the gray cps with the motorcraft blue and purple one. Still no difference. When it idles rough the Icp is about 587 psi and the IPR is 12.50. When it idles smooth its the same readings. I unplugged the icp and ebp sensor and drove it like that. Still no difference. Today I replaced the Idm with a remanufactured 120 volt Alliant Idm from Riffraff Diesel. The extra 20 volts defiantly made the throttle response get better, but is still idles rough. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Alex

I'm sorry to hear you're having truck issues. It sounds like your issue may have something to do with the accelerator pedal. My guess would either be the pedal itself or the idle switch. If the idle switch is broken, then the truck won't know you just took your foot off the accelerator and it's supposed to just idle. Otherwise the pedal has a variable resistor in it (Potentiometer) that the ECM reads to determine pedal position. If that potentiometer is bad the engine wont know properly how much throttle you're giving it. It's hard to say for sure, but just some thoughts on what it could be.

Hey there. I think I got my issue fixed or close to fixed. I changed the oil with some motorcraft 15w40 and now it idles pretty good. The old oil must have been foaming up. I do have a question about the dipstick though. Before I changed the oil, the dipstick read half. When I drained it, I only got about 12 quarts out of the motor. When I filled it, I put 14 quarts (aiming for 15 quarts) but when I was checking the dipstick, it now reads about 3/16 of an inch above full from roughly 14 quarts in the motor. It is still high after driving it for about 50 miles. I was doing some research and I guess some of the OBS fords had wrong dipsticks in the early years. My dipstick part number is 1826628C1 in a 1997 model. Could you possibly look at your dipstick part number and see what you have? Thanks, Alex

Hi Alex, I just checked, my dipstick has the same part number and takes 14 quarts of oil. It sounds like you added about a quart of extra oil. Usually some oil is stuck up in the high pressure oil pump and the oil filter so I could believe it if you were a bit overfull after removing 12 quarts since some (around 2 quarts) might've been left in the engine. I'd definitely recommend draining a tad bit of oil out to get the level back down to the operating range to avoid foaming the oil.

Thanks for the reply. Huh 14 quarts, at least the superdutys say they use 15 quarts with filter. I checked it again when it was on level ground about 20 minutes after it was running and it’s now just on the max. By the way how’s life been treating you? I love your channel.

Looks like Parts Geek has one! The website doesn't look the most trustworthy, but I've had good luck using Parts Geek in the past. www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1988/jeep/comanche/fuel_delivery/fuel_pump.html

What was the brand of fuel pump assembly that you originally went with?
@Rnddiesel
@Rnddiesel 2 года назад
The original one that only lasted a few hundred miles was from NAPA. I don't know what the brand was though. It was the stock replacement pump for the truck

Hello Rnddiesel! This is Nove from AISKITS, I watched your channel it’s really exciting and impressive. This is a newly launched LED headlight! You can see this LED headlight, is not cool?it is our latest development of a product! In the United States, there are many classic cars, they are our closest partners! Now they may need some upgrades to accompany us better. Replacing and upgrading our headlights does more than making driving safer. They improve the look of your vehicle as well as its performance. LED bulbs have a lower power pull on your vehicle’s battery and system. They also give our vehicle a fresh and new feel with bright white light. I was wondering if you could do a share for it on your RU-vid: • Introduction • Overview of features • Actual driving footage with the bulbs • Amazon link on the description for viewers interested in buying the product." Please let me know if this is OK with you. Really looking forward to working with you. Best wish, Nove
