I take my 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk to Endeavor Adventure Park in Bridgeport, TX along with Seth in his 2007 FJ Cruiser and we found the perfect spot to do some plein air painting along the way.
U STOLE THE TOYOTE PART RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH. If this was a Toyota or Honda baby you wouldn’t hear the end of it. It goes for the renegade Cherokee and grand Cherokee as well! Though the grand does get the credit it deserves SURPRISINGLY
The best crossover imo. Not everyone wants a big heavy body on frame SUV or a rock crawler since most of the time people drive on highways and would just need 4x4 for driving on lighter trails where a 2wd faced a harder time. It has good traction control and a center diff lock. Perfect for people who do light offroading and want the nimbleness of a normal road car. Regards a compass owner from India
Awesome content. Amazing artist, fun guy, smoothing voice in an awesome Jeep Compass Trailhawk, documenting his adventures with great editing and nice music. Keep up the great work, this car and format. Without a doubt this channel will grow.
I'm impressed as hell with the Compass now. I haven't seen any reviewers put it to the test like that. Love the painting, too! It was prettier than the inspiration for it.
I took a Compass facelift, your videos keep showing up in my timeline and they are worth my time. I could never imagine taking my compass in there. Keep up the work mate.
Ya know, you're actually a little better than 20:1 crawl because it's an automatic. With automatics it's a little bit better than rated because of the slip you get from the torque converter - it adds some slip and winds up upping the ratio.
@@KAREKINFPV If you have the traction control on it will lose power quick when any of the wheels can't grab. That can be turned off though. And the articulation isn't great but that is to be expected.
@@NorthTexasDirt thanks for the reply. This seems like so much of a better option to be able to get out there and explore than something like a subaru crosstrek.
Yes I wouldn’t do that in a normal compass, or Cherokee for that matter…. But the TH is lifted with 4WD and basically just a smaller Cherokee, and that one appears possibly extra lift? Anyhow, nice art work…
enjoyed this video, very nice to see the car go trough the terrain, showcasing the abilities and at the same thing a very relaxed explanation. Will watch more of this. Especially since in looking to buy a used cherokee or compass trailhawk...stil not sure which one. Both seem good (one is just a bit bigger it seems)
I run some 245/65 r17 Predator New Mutants currently. I think the ones in this video are BF Goodrich ATs of the same size. I had to put 1" wheel spacers on so they could fit.
@@NorthTexasDirt @Overland Artist Hey thanks. I dont want to mess around with the spacing etc so I was thinking of 225/65 R17. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time.
The Trailhawk has 1 inch more clearance than the standard compass. But sometimes 1 inch more is all that a man needs. But it does seem that yours has even more than 1 inch. Perhaps it has been modified from factory specs.
This is a surprisingly great video. I would say that vehicle has no business following a built FJ through that type of terrain (and I would be mostly correct) but good for you for sending it. That little jeep is impressive!
Hey do you know what the max tire size without a lift on these compass trailhawks is? I have a compass trailhawk that currently has 215/65/17s and thats what every tire site recommends but my wife's compass latitude came with 225/65/17s. Seems kinda weird the trailhawk comes with smaller tires didn't know if there was a reason.
It's always in 4WD... BUT it's automatic 4WD. The 4 wheel lock just tells it to STAY in 4wd without switching in and out automatically. And with the compass the 4 wheel low is actually just a little bit lower 1st gear. The car starts in second gear otherwise. Still , it's a very good and very capable car. My wife has the 2018 compass trailhawk and I have the 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. The Cherokee has the "real" 4 low and a rear locker but, they're both very good. The compass gets WAY better gas mileage than the Cherokee even though mine and my wife's Jeep have the 2.4 and the 9 speed. Basically the same engine and transmission . Compass is faster and gets way better MPG. Yeah - if I had the V6 Cherokee the Cherokee would be faster but as it is, it's not.
@@NorthTexasDirt sure. I don't have any subscribers or videos but sure. Also , remember that the Wrangler sport has the same setup. So , I don't think it's a bad thing to just have front and back brake locking differentials if they work well. You can find videos of Wrangler sports doing absolutely insane things with these "simulated" front and rear lockers. In the past , you'd have to have mechanical front and rear lockers or front and rear limited slip differentials. I actually prefer the brake locking differentials because you are going to keep the brakes changed anyway , they're easier to inspect and probably much cheaper to replace than a limited slip differential clutch. One more thing , one of the fastest cars in the world , the McLaren , uses an open diff with brake locking... So... If someone doesn't think it's any good or thinks that it's not high performance... Think again... Other things to note : the compass and Cherokee Trailhawk vehicles , as well as the renegade are considered all wheel drive AND four wheel drive. The Wrangler sport is not... The features that the Trailhawk jeeps have they are just now introducing into the more modern Jeep Sahara's (I think that's right) and vehicles like the Ford raptor. These Trailhawk Jeeps we're ahead... Others are just now catching up - even other Jeeps !
yeah, perfect description about the system in the Compass/Renegade One thing to note yet: When stationary the 4WD system ALWAYS engages the drive shaft, so you'll have 4WD when coming out of a stop. Furthermore, when cruising in a good tarmarc the driveshaft that was engaged when coming out of stop will desengage at about 25mph
I like the way you interact with the camera it’s very funny. Not taking yourself too seriously and just having fun making videos of the things you love to do
That's my favorite thing.....when you know you probably shouldn't be there but that's how bad ass you are...they have to stop and go wait what????? Is that a compass? 🤣🤣🤣 I have a 2020 trailhawk and 2018 latitude
I also have a Jeep CompassTrailhawk, and I love the stance of your Compass. What size wheel spacers and tires do you have on yourTrailhawk? Also the name and lift of your lift kit? Love your channel, and thanks for your time.
@@ruggv6217 european TH is built in an italian plant (the same of Renegade). Engines are a 1.3 petrol 180hp+electric one 60 hp. Total amount output 240 hp. Only a plug-in version is on sale. Full electric drive range is more ore less 50 km.
We bought a 2017 jeep compass trailhawk in late November and I like it. The 4x4 dial seems hard to turn but it does go into 4x4 mode. I may not do the same test you took yours through.
I got the exact same ride w/ the Rough Country 2” lift. Stock did great off-road and it’s even better w/ a lift. Great little suv people tend to underestimate 🙌🏼
so glad I found your channel! Im an artist and admittedly a novice to the off roading world, and have been thinking of similar adventures up here in Canada. Cheers :)
@@NorthTexasDirt yes, I got the Badlands version which would be comparable to your Compass. Picked it up a year ago December 30 . I love the styling as well, and it's my first off road capable vehicle so learning all the tricks has dominated my free time lol. As the vehicle goes I have zero complaints, other than I wish the bumper fascia wasn't plastic haha I already broke that 😏Otherwise, a fantastic vehicle so far.
Yes indeed. Right now I have 1" wheel spacers to accommodate the 245/65 r17 BF Goodrich ATs. I also have a 2" ATP lift kit on it and a couple roof cross bars to hold my Hi-Lift jack. Lastly I put a K&N air intake in it which of course makes it sound a bit beefier and adds a couple more horse power.
@@NorthTexasDirt I wish lol would make up for the under power issue. Although I still havnt ran into a situation where I really needed more power except if I'm loaded down with gear. I looked at a 2022 today and no turbo 😭😭
right now I have some Nitto Grappler 235/75 r17s on it but I'm about to replace them with 245/65 r17 mud terrains because the Nittos are just a little too big.
pretty cool vid, i too have a compass trailhawk, they sometimes get a lot of funny looks, but they are pretty fun and capable vehicles unique in their class. i enjoy it, i never try and do anything too crazy anyway
