Thanks for the video, I'm about to install Mopar steel bumper on my Sahara JL, but I was wondering if that results in noticeable car height reduction on stock suspension? I offroad in the sand weekly and losing height is not the best option.
It looks good with that bumper especially with the red tow hooks against the blue background. I've been contemplating the same purchase or an aftermarket aluminum bumper. Thanks for s!haring
Great Job, nice Sahara color too. I have the 19 Blk Rubicon & I'm trying to decide which steel bumper I'll be upgrading to. You actually made the install look too easy.
Those riv nuts you got, looked far easier to install than the ones that I installed on my 2014 RAM, when I bought the factory wheel to wheel side steps that I installed after I bought it.
I like that bumber, can you tell me more about asking 20% off and did the bull bar come with the bumper or is it extra, and the skid plate .about how much did you spend total,,my son has a 2018 jeep wrangler and the front bumper plastic is dry and looks like it wants to crack.i like to do it for him. Thank angel baez
Does the Sahara have LED headlights and fog lights? Does the Rubicon bumper come with LED fog lights? Is the rubicon bumper and lights compatible with a Sport or Sport S with Halogen fog lights?
I’m a new Wrangler owner. Going to do the same to my 2021 Sport S. Quick question. I recently bought a Milwaukee m12 fuel ratchet, what size sockets and bits do you think I will need to do common modifications on my Jeep (ie Remove Top, replace bumper, maybe replace headlights)?
The Rubicon front steel bumper is excellent for the wranglers your install looks beautiful good choice. Do you know if JK revision fits on a JL or vice versa? They pretty much look very identical.
Looks great! I purchased an Ocean Blue Sahara three days ago and am looking to make a few mods. The red accents from the bumper and decals look great on the blue. Would you mind sharing where to find the decals?
Thanks for sharing the bumper and skid plate upgrade. Can you share the tire brand/model and size you are running please. Looking to upgrade my stock 2019 JL Sport. Thanks 🙏🏻
Awesome video ! any info or part number on skid plate bracket or threaded insert riv nut ? please help !! any help ,tried dealer and all diagrams , nothing shiows the bracket that bolts the skid plate to frame .. thank you and great vids..
Have you gotten your steering problem taken care of yet? Just learned that the JL’s are coming from the factory with the wrong programming, causing this problem. It’s programmed for a two door, not the unlimited. The dealer can update the pcm to correct the problem. Found this out by another person with a JL.
I know its been a while since you posted, but do you know the part numbers you used? Some vendors are telling me the part number for the bumper doesn't include the fogs but I disagree as you proved. thanks!
Great video! Do you happen to have the exact part number you had ordered from the dealer? Looks as though you bolted right on & plugged in LED fog lights. My dealer is trying to have me part for piece by piece of the bumper
Do you have the part numbers of the bags of nuts/bolts for the skid plate? I can't seem to find the instructions of the skid plate anywhere. Do you still have the skid plate instructions by chance?
I have a 2017 Sahara JKU that I want to replace the OEM plastic bumper with a steel bumper. Does anyone know if the 2018 steel bumper from a rubicon will fit onto my 2017 Sahara?
I had a couple questions, seeing if you have experienced these yet, 1. Alpine "Crackling" sound, notable on talk radio. 2. Whine from either the engine or transmission
No whine from the transmission. I will say you can here a slight droning noise from the rear exhaust when letting off the throttle when stopping or going around a corner. Its very minor and just due from what appears to be a larger muffler than the JK. The Audio Crackling issue I did have. I call it a moderate vibration. And mine was bad enough you could feel it through the steering wheel as if the speaker was directly mounted to the steering wheel. Many people have said the fix was putting foam and sealant around the drivers side front speaker connector and gray plastic piece. Oddly enough I brought this to my service manager when we first looked at the steering issue. While duplicating the issue he notice the plastic panel that you remove when taking the door off, was rattling really bad. He temporary put a piece of foam wedged between the plastic piece and the drivers door connector and my vibration is gone for the most part. If I crank my stereo up to the near max with some thumping music I can feel a minor music vibration out of the steering wheel which I feel is expected at that level.
Okay ill see If I can have that looked at with my service guy this week as it sounds more frontward then exhaust end. Ive seen it called multiple names but glad to hear its not just me, probably some bad batch of speakers from Alpine, I see what they can say other than that this jeep has been awesome these first 500 miles and cant wait to start seeing the mods roll, definitely looking forward to your mods for some possible ideas.
Holes line up either way, the base of the bar does not jut out into open space when it’s installed correctly. Also the directions clearly illustrate with a huge arrow which way to install it, just sayin’
Thanks for the vid, I'm doing this later in the week so this was very useful. Just an FYI, those compression nut are called RIVNUTs. If you get a Rubicon steel bumper, you may not get the rivnuts. They are cheap and you can order them here: parts.allmoparparts.com/chrysler-complete-mopar-rivnut-6511076aa
I owned my 12 JKU for 6 years tight as can be. The JL's built after a certain date have loose steering boxes. And some of us lucky ones had loose ball joints as well.
I didn't buy a Rubicon for the same reasons . Who the hell would spend 45k or more for a off road toy . I have a off road beast of a jeep . It sucks to drive everyday. I love my jl sahara . Would drive it any day over my 2016 explorer .
I have sold mine now but I had no problems with my steering it was very tight. I couldn't stand the electronic crap on it. I purchased a new jk and jl at same time decided to sell the jl.
NutterButter it’s a commuter vehicle like mine. There is no reason to pay the extra for an off-roader when you cruise pavement. He just liked some cosmetic elements.
