This is a video from our 2020 visit to Hidden Falls where we just happened to capture the moment a fellow off-roader rolled his Jeep over. Hey, sometimes we make mistakes. Fortunately everyone was ok and I was able to help them tip it back over with my newly installed 12k lbs winch.

You cannot turn up slope when both front and rear tires are on the up-side of off camber ledge. You must gain center of gravity by turning down slope. Rookie move but nice soft landing. Even the most innocent looking of terrain can jump up and bite your butt. Keep your shit wired tight at all times. Happy Wheeling out there.

I know that spot. It can be sketchy. I normally go to the end of the hole to climb out.

That probably would have been a better move. I think they didn't like the approach angle. Thanks for watching.

Lol. Stopping once your rolling is insuring it will continue to roll. If he had accelerated, turning into the roll, most likely, it would have been a close call. He basically did the opposite.

@@phantomwalker8251 yes. However, these basic awareness of surroundings can be unreachable. Some people just don’t get it, like any occupation. Still, if he had continued forward, understanding that roll, and most, are slow, he could have raise the front and it would have mitigated the roll. It’s ultimately a very simple geometry thing.

The reason I think he was on the bank was that he saw his friend that went ahead of him have trouble going straight through. The straight through path had a large ledge, very high departure angle and with the water and mud it made it difficult to get out of it straight on. This is what he explained to me, thinking that he should not try and get out by going straight, but instead going to the left. Ideally a better approach angle on the left would have worked and perhaps a different angle on the the straight forward path also could have worked. Fortunately no one was hurt.
