Incredible Sound System speaker pods enclosures for Jeep CJ & Wrangler. Subwoofers, midrange, everything audio. I do have some of the bass tuned down for this video in hopes that it will sound better over typical computer speakers. All of the pods you see and a couple others are at jeepsound.com

first of all NICE CJ7!!!!!!!! system looks and sounds great!!! A jeep owner never thinks they can have more fun with their CJ till they put a system in it!!! Enjoy and keep it looking like new!

Sure! I'm guessing you think the one on the windshield may get in the way? Not even close to a problem, plenty of clearance and really added to the frontal imaging, especialy with the top off.

Thanks! I turned the bass down for the video because it seemed from looking at other videos that the camera or perhaps my computer just couldn't pick it up and replicate it without hurting it. I did many dry runs on this video first and found a setting for the final shoot that seemed best for the cameras abilities. There are three 8" subs in this system and it's PLENTY of bass, even with the top down.

Thank you for your kind words. You can use the XJ-Pod in your Cherokee and there are kick panels for Cherokees from qlogic, but that's all I know of for custom fit pods regarding a Cherokee.

That's a clean Jeep! We just picked up a 76 CJ-7 (jeep #4 for us). Just tore it apart and am working on body work at the moment but was just trying to win that intra pod console on eBay for a decent price, but was outbid. Now that I see it in yours I wish I had bid higher and won it. Pretty clean design.

@09adge13 I'm glad to help. Hope the speakers for your computer are better than mine! I've always wondered how well the audio recording device in the digital camera was able to pick up the sound quality and how it sounds on someone's computer who has good speakers and a subwoofer hooked up.

@pending27 No, the Stealth-Pod won't interfere with the soft top when it's down. The pod sits low enough and the top can rest or 'sag' down to the pod with no trouble. I'd recommend keeping any additional weight off the top of the pod though. :)

Hi Michael, The brackets are just regular stock brackets fro the back seat. As for the seats, there's a guy on ebay that makes replacement seat covers for the Laredo striped style like mine. They're not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but he did extensive research and uses the exact same materials as were used back in the early 80's. If you type in Jeep CJ NOS and sort by price highest to lowest, you'll see them. Hope that helps! Stu
@stu3557
@stu3557 15 лет назад
There's space behind them and the soft top would just rest in the back over the subwoofer area(s) which is fine b/c bass goes through anything. They use the Jeep for promos, etc.
@stu3557
@stu3557 15 лет назад
I think you have a good shot with the Sky-Pod. You could probably find a place for the Mod Pods, maybe the Stealth-Pod (not in the Jeep). Only other one with a shot may be the Centra-Pod. Good luck!
@stu3557
@stu3557 13 лет назад
@HoBOpUrE They're affixed to the Jeep body with self-tapping hex head screws that have a rubber sealer washer. They've always stayed tight...never had a problem with them moving. The screws are inside the enclosures, so if you use some sort of tamper-proof screws to affix the speakers to the pods, it makes it difficult for someone to steal them...you'd have to get inside the pods to remove the screws that affix them to the Jeep body.

@flipbarracuda Good question. I 'daisy-chained' some of them. Everything runs off of four total amps in the back under the rear seat. Nothing is hooked directly to the back of the radio, they all get power from the amps.

Awesome video man, 5* right off the bat. You took amazing care of that jeep and put a lot of thought into your setup and it shows. I have a 96 Cherokee XJ so unfortunately I don't get to use the pods (bummer) but I'm slowly building my own system! I wish the first owner of my jeep had taken as good care of mine as you did to yours. Once again, totally awesome setup it sounds great.

It's actually a Jeep CJ7, though there are some similarities. One shifter is for the transmission and the other is for the transfer case (shifting in and out of 4WD).

@stu3557
@stu3557 13 лет назад
@mryabuddy1 No, I'm afraid most of it won't. You could probably get the Sky-Pod, Mod Pods and maybe the Centra-Pod to fit if you have enough space between the shifters and the firewall, but all the others wouldn't fit. Well, I guess if you don't have a back seat you might be able to get the Quad-Pods in the back to work for you.

Well, if you use speakers with a poly composite cone (not paper or paper treated) you'll be fine. The speakers that the company offers if you buy the pods loaded are poly composite. Thanks...I love this Jeep too! Always wanted an Olympic White or Sherwood Green Laredo!

The Mod Pods will. So will the Quad-Pods and the Sky-Pod. If you check out places like Quadratec or Jeepsound, you can see which of the other pods that aren't in my Jeep will also fit a TJ Wrangler like yours.
@stu3557
@stu3557 14 лет назад
@Brojangles33 The Stealth-Pod (which isn't in the Jeep b/c the Quad-Pods are in instead and ya can't have both) should work in a CJ5 if there's no back seat.
@stu3557
@stu3557 14 лет назад
Ya, and they don't take any space up except (arguably) the Quad-Pods in the back...but I don't ever store anything back there. But if I did, the grilles protect the subs and the bass would flow through anyway. It's 13 speakers total, including the dash speakers.

@stu3557 He means are they mono or stereo. If they are wired in series or parallel, that automatically means they are mono. They shouldn't be wired together at all if it is stereo.

It sure is! I don't know why the 4WD hardware catalog got rid of that bird's eye photo of this Jeep and all the speaker pods...they sell them all! It was a good photo, it should still be in the catalog.
@stu3557
@stu3557 13 лет назад
@crackerjackoriginal I think so. It tends to lessen the creases that can form on the clear 'windows' when stored for a while. If you do fold/roll up the top for storage, best to insert old (but clean) blankets or towels so that the clear areas stay visibly clear, minimizes scuffing.
@stu3557
@stu3557 14 лет назад
@aiiDz The Jeep rarely leaves the garage so theft is not on the forefront of my mind. I'd suggest using tamper-proof specialty screws to affix any audio components in your Jeep. Most thieves won't be carrying the proper bits to remove those kinds of screws.
@AmeriCIA
@AmeriCIA 10 лет назад
You made a pretty accurate educated guess. ;) It sounded great. My jeep is a wj and most of this doesn't apply but I do have a 63 F-100 4x4 and I see some pod options that could go a long towards helping that old beast.
@stu3557
@stu3557 10 лет назад
Yeah, for example, I think the one on the transmission hump can work in a lot of other trucks. The curve may not be the same, but putting some padding under the carpet can help mimic the curve of the pod better and make it look good. You were the first to tell me I made a pretty good guess on listening levels/adjusting lows & highs... Does your computer setup have anything special speaker/subwoofer-wise? Just curious.
@AmeriCIA
@AmeriCIA 10 лет назад
stu3557 No, nothing special at all. I use a USB driven Rosewill headset. They are better than any headset I have used in the past and are pretty cheap pricewise. No soundcard or anything either. Just plug in the USB and the drivers and I have sound. No 3.5mm (1/8") plug or anything. They also give force feedback effect to help enhance the bass lines which is nice but the speakers themselves reproduce bass quite well.
@stu3557

I was thinking about putting a similar system in a 95 YJ. Same center console and center pods. But I'm thinking of replacing the dash speakers with quality 4x6's instead of the sky pod, putting in a sound bar with two 6", two 2", and two 1" instead of the mod pods, and a couple of 6x9 sound wedges instead of the rear speakers you have. Basically I won't have the two 8's you have in the rear. I know they make a huge difference, but how much do you think I'll miss them? I don't listen to a lot of bass type music, the jeep is really more of an acoustic vibe. Think you could live without them? Also, this vid is a few years old, still own the jeep? And thanks for the Big Head Todd & The Monster memories. Great tune.

What happens if the speakers get wet from rain? Will it ruin them for good? By the way awesome Jeep!
@stu3557
@stu3557 15 лет назад
Well, the Quad-Pods won't because there just isn't enough room behind the seat. If you don't have a back seat they'll fit. But the Sky-Pod will work, so will the Mod Pods and the Centra-Pod in 5's.

David Maslowski Head units, well, just get one that has the features you want while making sure it has plenty of pre-amp outputs in the back, including a sub output. And I'd make sure those pre-amps have a voltage of 4 volts or higher so you have a real clear signal going to your amp(s). The wiring is a little involved to write about here, but I can tell you that my buddy and I did it all in one weekend. One looooong weekend, but only one nonetheless. :)

Sure, check out jeepsound and look on their dealer page to find where to buy'em. You'd have to get your own amps, they don't come with any. As for how much they are, it depends on whether you're getting them empty or with speakers included. Hope that helps!
@stu3557
@stu3557 14 лет назад
@SuperDwang One way to make it more difficult for someone to steal any of them is to use specialty screws to install the speakers. Most thieves will have typical screwdrivers and so forth, but probably not a pin-in-head torx driver, etc. If they can't remove the speakers, they can't get to the mounting screws for the pods located inside.

I have a question for you. Are the pods water resistant? I am wondering because i would like to install them in my Jeep. I drive an all original 1978 Cj5 Golden Eagle only thing left to do on it is to put the eagle on the hood.(Kind of a big piece i guess since it really ties it all together) So if you could please just let me know if these pods are water resistant that would be great. Thanks. By the way I love your Cj that is the kind of originality i am shooting for on mine.

Sweet job!!! How is the quad pod with rain? Thanks is that factory carpet?
@stu3557
@stu3557 10 лет назад
The CJ never sees rain, so all I can tell you is that using poly or poly-composite speakers is the way to go if you're concerned about rain. Paper or paper-treated cones don't hold up in Jeeps. :) The carpet isn't factory. I think I got it from a place online called Metra auto carpet or upholstery or something like that? I remember they had a 'mold' for the floor of CJ's, and then they had a boatload of colors to choose from.

@stu3557
@stu3557 2 года назад
Years ago when I made this video, I had 5.25" speakers in the pod in front of the shifters (The Centra-Pod). But a few years ago I changed them out to 6.5" speakers and just cut the plastic a little more so the speaker holes were large enough to accept them.
@stu3557
@stu3557 13 лет назад
@flipbarracuda It's 13 total speakers including the dash speakers which are 5.25" coaxials.
@stu3557
@stu3557 13 лет назад
@crackerjackoriginal The pods are made of plastic composite so they're totally water resistant. It's the speakers you want to concern yourself with. Just stay away from paper speaker cones and you should be fine. You'd want to go with a poly-composite cone (which most speakers are made of these days). If the speakers have a bunch of water on them after a good rain, you can just wipe them off.

I don't really take the Jeep out of the garage very often and when I do, it's in very low-crime places. If you're worried about theft, try using some tamper-proof screws to mount them. Most thieves will have a flathead and a phillips screwdriver on them, but probably not a tri-span or a pin-in-head- torx or something like that.
