This Jeep, is my Jeep’s twin. I ordered and bought a brand spanking new 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. It is my first ever Jeep after being a predominantly Toyota Tacoma guy for off roading, since 1997, when I bought my first one of those. I’ve been around off roading my entire life though. I was born and raised in the East County of San Diego and I grew up going to the desert or out in the East County mountains, as well as countless other areas throughout the State, Arizona, and Nevada. With my Jeep, I ordered it with the 3.6 liter V-6 and 8 speed automatic transmission. My heart wanted a manual but I knew that an automatic would be much better for going out off roading. On my Jeep, I just ordered a Warn Zeon 12-S winch and some Factor 55 winch accessories, including their Factor 55 Ultrahook. I also ordered a very similar bull bar for mine too. As far as off road light go, I’m still weighing my options of going with either Baja Designs or KC Hilites. The KC’s are a lot more affordable but the Baja Designs are much more powerful so I’m very conflicted as to which brand I should go with?

Well, good question. I'm of the opinion that lighting is a very personal choice. I personally used the inexpensive Amazon offerings just to make a point - how long will they really last. I've been very impressed! Good luck to you and happy wheeling!

@@4LowRocks, thank you for your response to me! I just placed my first order from KC Hilites. On my 97’ Tacoma, I had 4, PIAA 80 Racing Series off road lights. I then put them on my 07’ Tacoma and when I sold it a few years ago, the lights were still working just fine on it, so I definitely got my monies worth out of them. Those lights had both a high beam and a low beam and were some on the brightest off road lights made at the time. With technology now though, I’m totally blown away at how much better and more energy efficient off road lights are now days. With the lights that you bought, do a long term review of them sometime because I would love to see the video of you sharing your experiences with them be it good, bad or otherwise. Thanks again for the response back to me! Jay

Glad I checked out your video. I'm not a big Lights guy but I had some pods kicking around I got stupid cheap. Well seeing your simple spacer mount got me to thinking. Ran down and got some bolts from Home Depot (M6x1.0 70mm) and used some stuff around the house for the spacers. Also have the Aux Buttons so it was super simple, $3 out of pocket and got a cool mod 👍

Great Video and very easy to understand. Thank you! I was curious on how you were able to connect a pair of cube light wiring into one aux switch? Thank you in advance
@4LowRocks
@4LowRocks 4 года назад
Hi, thanks for watching! I simply connected the two leads from the two cubes together before connecting them to the switch pigtail. The two lights when combined are less than the maximum wattage for the switch, so it is safe to wire them together in that manner. BTW, the lights have held up very well - much better than expected for inexpensive items!

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering about the light bar. It's so cheap on Amazon and wanted to know what you think of it now that you've had them for a while. I have two rigid cube lights on my A-pillars that are amazing but want to maybe add a light bar to my bull bar over my winch as you have. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks and keep up the great channel.
@4LowRocks
@4LowRocks 5 лет назад
Thanks for the compliment! Yes, the Nilight units are quite inexpensive, but so far I've got no issues with them. They throw a lot of light down the trail, haven't fogged up, and seem to be very sturdy. I have been told that after some time as individual LEDS start to go bad, it can overload and pull lots of voltage. That said, for the price, you can buy new ones every year for many years. I will certainly follow-up on the video in the future.

@mahoneyp13
@mahoneyp13 5 лет назад
These videos are so great and detailed. Quick question...I also just my aux switches working and eager to hook up some lights. When you wired your two hood mounted lights did you slice those lines together and then hook to one of the AUX connections? I'm wondering the best and cleanest way to do that.
@4LowRocks
@4LowRocks 5 лет назад
Patrick, thanks for watching! Yes, I used some wire and in-line crimp and shrink connectors to splice the two cube lights together onto one cable, then connected that cable to the Aux 2 line left under the hood. The ground for the two lights was also spliced together in the same manner, then a crimp and shrink terminal lug was added and bolted to the grounds on the side of the engine compartment near the battery.

Nice job! How are these holding up now that you've had them for a few months? The price is hard to beat for the casual off-roader. With the pods that you mounted on the cowl, did you fabricate a spacer or did that come with the lights? Was the OEM bolt long enough? Subscribed!
@4LowRocks
@4LowRocks 5 лет назад
Thanks for watching Scott! They lights are doing quite well, but a few of the mounting bolts are starting to show some rust. I guess for the money, if I have to replace them annually, I'm ok with that! I purchased the spacers as I don't have access to any milling nor lathe machinery. That said, I do have new mounts that i want to try for the cowl to lift the lights up a bit; as they sit now, much of the light just lights up the white hood. The bolt to mount the lights and spacer came with the spacer kit. Be on the look out for a new video on the replacement of the spacers.
