You make installing that kit look so easy !!!! Love it thanks and so glad I found a Mopar Kit ....You have a new Follower...all the way up in NS Canada !!!!
@@TylerPotter Followed your video... install was smooth and fast. One thing I am running into with 37s is that even though the tire is now out and up a bit more, the backup sensors are always triggered now. Any suggestions on a fix? Thanks!
There was supposed to be a software update for the park sensors through Mopar that was going to correct this issue with larger tires setting off the park sensors, but I have still yet to see it come out.
One of the ways to get the long tire bumper fully seated is to leave the interior trim piece off during installation. You can then use a pair of pliers to grab the threaded tip of the bumper and pull it until is literally pops in and becomes fully seated. Using a little glass cleaner on the threaded tip of the large bumper does also help a little.
This is a great tip! They actually just changed the design on the newest long bumpers and now have a push in clip style vs. the screw in. It is soooo much nicer to work with. Thanks for the view!
Thanks for sharing, very helpful. Any tips on putting the back up camera cover on with a 35” spare tire with -6mm offset? Currently using the stock lug nuts, and seems to block the cover, do I need some low profile lug nuts. Also is it possible to just purchase the extra long rubber isolator from Mopar? Thank you!
There are a lot of aftermarket wheels that don't allow the cover to fit back on. We normally just leave the cover off in those cases. Thanks for the view!
In addition to the reinforcement kit, Did you purchase the whole spare tire carrier or were you able to purchase the bracket assembly? Not just seeing just the bracket on the Mopar site. I think the carrier that came with my Rubicon should be able to be reused.
Just the tailgate reinforcement and the tire carrier lift brackets, both of the part numbers should be in the description, but yes you are correct you reuse the factory tire carrier and bolt it on with the two new Mopar parts. Mopar Tailgate Reinforcement P/N 82215356AB Mopar Tire Carrier Bracket P/N 82215355
Great vid! How thick are spacers in the relo kit? How much does the tire carrier rise from stock position? Trying to figure out how much the spare tire carrier will rise and how much it will be pushed out from tailgate due to spacers... Also, my JLUR came with Mopar Tailgate Reinforcement so i'm just wanting to raise my spare a bit after getting 35s. Do I need to install any additional spacers since my setup has spacers already to fit spare tire carrier with tailgate reinforcement offset?
There are 2 kits or parts installed in this video. Since you already have the reinforcement you would just need to tire carrier bracket parts. I think I raises the tire carrier around 1.5-2in to help clear the larger tires. No you normally would not need to add any more spacers but might need to adjust the tire rubber stops accordingly, the kit comes with new longer tire bumpers. Thanks for the view!
Great video but maybe you could explain how to disconnect the brake light wire. I tried to disconnect the wire for over an hour and had to give up. I’m sure it’s something incredibly simple but when you don’t know the trick you may as well be trying to climb Mt Everest.
There is just a small tab that you push down and then the connector should pull apart. Sometimes the tab will get stuck and you will need to use a small screw driver to pry up on the other end of the tab. Hopefully you got it and thanks for the view!
Question for you Tyler or anyone else.. I had the dealer install this on my 2021 JL and the backup sensors are going off, they say it's the tire causing it and claimed to not be their issue. I don't buy this expanation. I bought the jeep with added 35s and this tire rack into the deal. I think they messed up the installation somehow, maybe the tire is sticking out too much or something. Did this jeep have this issue? anyone else see this issue? Nice video.. looks fairly easy and maybe I can fix this myself.
It seems to be very hit-and-miss on which jeeps will get angry about the tire sticking out further, it seems like the ones with after market wheels with more backspacing or offset that stick out further will be more likely to have the issue. We have been told forever ago that there was going to be a software update to fix the park sensor issue but as of now I have yet to see the software update become available. Thanks for the view!
That is a really good question Mopar has never offered any other accessories that would add onto the bracket, but I would assume you could add a antenna to that location. Thanks for the view!
Great Video! How do you like it so far? Just started building my Jeep JL and uploaded part one of the build to my channel. I am considering this for when I get my new wheels.
@@TylerPotter Thanks Tyler Looking for the DYI so I can do my self :))) when they come, I jumped into a Rubicon yesterday and I DEF need them for when mine shows up ....LOL Me short
Yes the tire carrier bracket will raise the tire carrier to help clear the bumper, the reinforcement by itself won't add anymore clearance without the addition of the tire bracket if that makes since. Thanks for the view!
Nice video, thanks for posting it. I have a new rubicon that I am upgrading to 37 inch tires. Looking at tire carrier options, as I have a backup camera, will this support the 37 inch tires you think? Also, will I only need the tailgate reinforcement part? Thanks!
Yes the Mopar tailgate reinforcement and the tire carrier brackets will support 37's. You will need both parts unless you ordered the Jeep with the factory installed tailgate reinforcement, then you would only need the tire carrier brackets. Thanks for the view!
@@KingFish747 yes there is a way you can move the 3rd brake light up 1 set of screw holes on the carrier to work with 37's. I don't have a video on doing that though
That is a really good question, I don't think Mopar has anything to go in those holes but I would think someone aftermarket is making something for them? Thanks for the view!
I think you can fit a 35" tire on with the stock carrier but it just adds a lot of weight to the hinges without the reinforcement, Thanks for the view!
@@TylerPotter how does this kit reinforce the hinges? Or, it’s not necessary and the hinges can handle the weight? Just the mount needs to be heavy duty?
I use the same kit and I have 35X12.5X18 on my JL but its rub on my bottom side of bumper its that normal and now I'm planing to change to 37X12.5X17 any suggestions will help. thank you in advance.
Yes with the added weight it would be nice to add this, and depending on the rear bumper (plastic vs. metal) the 35in tire will hit the bumper without the carrier, Thanks for the view!
The hinges aren't the issue, the reinforcement ties the tire carrier into the hinges to get the weight off of the aluminum tailgate. Thanks for the view!
Yes, Jeep was supposed to come out with a software update to fix the rear park sensors with the larger tire but it hasn't came out yet. Thanks for the view!
My wheel and tire setup is 110lbs , will this reinforcement be sufficient? Also running the TeraFlex HD tire carrier that brings the wheel closer to the tailgate
The hinges aren't the issue, there is nothing from the factory connecting the actual tire carrier bracket to the hinges so all of the tire and wheels weight is hanging off of the threaded holes in the tailgate, this ties the tire carrier into the hinges with the nice bracket so the actual tailgate isn't holding the weight anymore. Thanks for the view!
Would this help even with a stock sized wheel? Seems like the stronger the better? I don’t yet own a jeep and just looking at options. Overkill? Thanks.
They are Black Rhino Warlord wheels, they were 17's but I really don't remember if they were 17x8 or 17x9 so looking at the website I'm not sure what spec they were for sure, so I don't want to tell you wrong. Thanks for the view!
It should move it up slightly higher but depending on you wheel backspacing we have still had some of the park sensors beep at the tires, supposedly there will eventually be a software update to address this. Thanks for the view!
@@TylerPotter so I did some research and I did 2 things. I bought a spare tire relocation bracket that moved my spare tire up 2.25”. I also ensured that the tpms semsor on the spare was as close to the 12 o’clock position as possible. I read that the tpms can cause the sensors to beep if it’s mounted on the lower side of the tire. I do not have any back up sensor issues anymore. My offset is +12. You make great videos, thank you.
Just looked back and read your reply, I didn't know about the possible tire pressure sensor interference issue but that totally makes since! Thanks for the info!
@@TylerPotter Thank you for your great videos you do. Your 2" Mopar lift install videos were pivotal in my successful install. You saved me a bunch of $$ by showing me how to do it myself. You rock!
Awesome video install. Does anyone know if the spare tire carrier kit (82215355AC) is needed to install the XR OEM wheels which are 35 onto a Rubicon JL, or if just the tailgate reinforcement kit is enough (82215356AB)
No with 33's you should be fine without it, of course it wouldn't hurt to add but I wouldn't think it would be really needed until 35's. Thanks for the view!
That is a good question! The largest we have installed at the shop with the factory bumper still in place is a 37. You may need to search online to see if anyone else has had a 38 on it. Thanks for the view!
